"Why are you here?" I ask James when we break away from the hug.

He points at the sitting room, "let's go sit and discuss." 

Drawing in a sharp breath, I nod and Caden moves out of the way just so we can pass. Not before throwing James a warning glare In case he tries to do anything I wouldn't like.

"Days have been rough without you, and I won't ask about yourself and the baby because I know you both aren't fine," James says with nothing but genuine concern in his eyes.

"Yeah, your dick of an elder brother put her through hell," Caden speaks up, glaring so hard at James as if he's Cahill himself.

"I am only here for Mathilda because I care about her. It pains me to see that she's hurt." It's unbelievable how James of all people manages to keep his cool while talking to Caden.
