Magnus

In a small dilapidated hut, a frail body was laying on a straw mat, his breathing was ragged, his face red and he was clenching his fist with full force.

Veins popped up on his neck and his head, and one could tell that he was in extreme pain.

"Ahh..." The guy grunted as he rolled around on the mat.

His hairs were black his eyes closed and he looked around eighteen years old.

There was no one except him in the hut.

"Ahh... This pain! Please Stop!" The boy shouted in a pleading tone, trying to subside the pain by clenching his Jaw.

And as if the pain heard him it soon started subsiding, his face turned normal again while sweat beads dripped down from his body.

His rolling stopped and he also opened his hand.

The veins in his neck and his head calmed down and finally, he opened his deep black eyes, a gentle smile formed on his face as a small teardrop moved from the corner of his eyes.

"Finally it stopped." His body moved and he sat down on the straw mat.

He recollected the events that has happened to him till now.

His name was Jack and he was a college student on earth and yesterday he hit a truck while crossing the road.

And to his surprise, he wasn't injured or dead but got transported to this new world where magic existed.

He got transmigrated into the body of an orphan boy named Magnus, he lived in the Raw Fish Village on Golden Crown continent.

He was the lowest of the lowest slum boys that survived by doing menial chores like picking up trash.

Magnus also died because he contracted a deadly disease and didn't have enough money to pay the apothecary to get medicine.

And Jack crossed this body at that moment.

At first, he was sad that he crossed in such a weak body, however soon enough a piercing pain moved through his body that got him in this condition.

"What is this new memory." As Magnus was contemplating the previous events, suddenly he found a strange memory in his brain.

"Don't tell me that the pain I just experienced was because of this information."

Magnus focused on the new information.

"Subliminal Mind Control Technique, one can implant subliminal thoughts onto others by just speaking it in existence. The more powerful the other person is, the harder it is to plant subliminal messages. The more complex the message is, the harder it is to implant the thought." Magnus blurted out as he read through the information.

He read some more and found out that with his new body, he also got a new power.

Power to control others by implanting thoughts in their mind by speaking.

He also came to know that the stronger the opponent, the more repetitions he would need to implant any thoughts.

"It can work on any being that is conscious?!" Magnus read the remaining information in his mind and his mouth opened in surprise.

According to it any being that has consciousness could be affected by this technique.

"So, I can even implant thoughts into animals!" An excited smile appeared on his face.

Suddenly the future that was looking dark for him in this strange new world brightened with amazing colors.

His legs shot and he sprung up straight.

"I have to test this power!" An evil smile crept up on his face.

One could even see a wicked glimmer in them.

In his previous life, he was a normal guy that longed for excitement in his life, however, he was suffering from Anhedonia, which made him lose interest in everything.

He even lost interest in video games and movies he used to love. However, in this new body, he has got no such conditions and he felt excited after a long time.

Pacing around his house, he looked for something specific, and soon he found it.

"Here you are..." His thin hands moved and he finally caught a black beetle in his hand.

From his memories, he remembered that this beetle was called the Emerald Beetle because of the emerald-colored spot on its back.

They were generally harmless and were found in abundance at this time of the year.

Magnus folded his legs and sat down on the straw mat again, the Emerald Beetle was in his palm as he looked at the insect with a shimmer in his eyes.

He remembered the technique and suddenly felt an itching in his throat.

He could tell that this itch meant he has activated the technique.

'I just have to say the thing that I want to implant in its consciousness.'

Magnus gulped his saliva as a glimmer of hope flashed in his eyes, his future depended on this, if this didn't work then he might as well die again.

"You are obedient to me." He said and looked at the beetle in anticipation.

'Should I give it orders to test if it worked?' He thought and turned his technique off.

"Roll around." He ordered, however, the beetle did nothing but stayed in the same place on his palm.

Magnus suddenly remembered that the more complex the thought is the more repetitions he would need to make it work.

"Let's try it a few more times."

He activated the technique again.

"You are my obedient servant."

"You are obedient to me."

"You are my obedient servant."

....

He repeated the words ten more times and then finally switched off the technique.

"Roll around." He said as his eyes danced in anticipation.

Time ticked and Magnus held his breath, his gaze focused on the beetle, and after a few seconds when he was about to activate his technique again something unexpected happened.

The beetle rolled around on his palm.

His eyes widened at its sudden action and he almost threw the beetle away in excitement.

However, he controlled his impulses.

He wanted to laugh and celebrate, however, the pessimist in him shut his excitement down.

"The first time could be a coincidence. Let me try again." He said and then again moved his palm in front of his face where the beetle was resting.

"Roll again." He directed his words at the beetle.

And the Beetle rolled again.

This time an excited laugh left his mouth and he placed the beetle on the floor.

"Roll again!" He ordered.

And beetle followed his orders like an obedient servant.

"Hahaha...! This is amazing!"

"Roll again!"

...

"Roll again!"

"Hahaha...!"

"Roll again!"

In his excitement, he made the beetle roll on the floor about a hundred more times, and only after that, a satisfied smile moved up on his face.

The beetle on the other hand looked at Magnus with a stupid expression on its face.

However it got unnoticed by Falme.

"Roll again!" He ordered one last time to make sure that he was not dreaming.

And like the last hundred times the beetle rolled again on the floor.

He then picked up the beetle and placed it in his tattered robe.

"Time to make a harem of beauties!" Magnus exclaimed.

In his previous life, he was a fat and ugly guy and he couldn't get a girlfriend for himself. He always longed for one.

"In this life, I will make a Harem!" He stood up and opened the door of his hut.

Outside he saw the familiar but unfamiliar scene. It was his first time seeing the alley he lived in, however, he felt like he has seen it thousands of times.

It was all because of the memories of the previous owner.

"Magnus, what are you doing, let's go and catch some fish." suddenly a voice entered Magnus' ears, and he turned his head around to see another malnourished guy standing beside him.

"Ronan." Jack blurted, as he looked at the boy in front of him.

From his memories, he knew the kid, he was the previous owner's friend and also a fellow slum member of the Raw Fish Village.

And it was one of their earning sources to catch fish and sell it to the village butcher shop.

Although it earned pennies, the extra fish they caught filled their stomachs.

And it was better to work than to collect trash in the streets.

Magnus looked at the guy and as he was new to this world he decided to go with the flow for now.

He nodded, "Let's go."

The slums were located at the corner of the village near the Great Golden wilderness.

There was also a big lake and a river on the eastern and western edges of the village respectively.

Falme and Ronan both lived in the Western Slums, so they always fished in the river.

Although it was harder than fishing in the lake, at least they don't have to cross the whole village to reach their destination.

There were also territorial disputes so, slum boys like them stayed away from the lake.

Their thin legs paced forwards as Magnus followed Ronan.

There was hopefulness and excitement in his steps contracting the slumping posture of Ronan.
