55 Chapter 55: Strike Down, Thunder Dragon!

Chapter 55: Strike Down, Thunder Dragon!

"Eh? Are you talking about Kado Corporation?" A drunken man looked at Kenichi with his blurry eyes, his breath reeking of alcohol, making Kenichi lean back a bit.

"Yes, where is Kado Corporation?" Kenichi asked with some disdain, but he asked again nonetheless.

He had already arrived in the Land of Waves, but to his surprise, he couldn't find Kado Corporation here, leaving Kenichi somewhat bewildered.

Could it be that Kado Corporation hasn't extended its reach to the Land of Waves yet?

"No... *hic*... never heard of it," the man burped and then collapsed on the table, falling asleep with loud snores.

Kenichi scratched his head, it seemed that things had changed, but upon reflection, it wasn't too surprising.

Naruto had just been born, and by the time Naruto took on the mission in the Land of Waves, he was already twelve years old, meaning there were still over eleven years until Naruto's appearance.

Eleven years, enough time for everything to change.

"I made a mistake." Kenichi shook his head; Kado Corporation might not have arrived in the Land of Waves at this time, and whether Kado would become the wealthy magnate of the ninja world in the future was also in question.

This is the trouble without the internet; if there was internet access, looking up this information wouldn't be so troublesome.

But without the internet, finding out who the wealthiest person in a region is can be quite difficult.

"Let's just look around and gather some information," Kenichi shook his head and then casually pricked the man's hand with a needle, collecting some blood.

Kenichi planned to collect some genetic information while he was out, to keep as a backup.

Before the era of chakra, the ninja world didn't have chakra; it was only after Kaguya Ōtsutsuki planted the God Tree that chakra was produced. But even before the Ōtsutsuki, the ninja world seemed to have some native deities and strange things.

For example, the evil god worshipped by Hidan, and then the Death God of the Land of Whirlpools.

So, it's possible that people's genes from that time contained some hidden information.

"These plants can also be collected." Kenichi casually picked a fruit from a nearby fruit tree, and a man came rushing over angrily.

However, the money Kenichi casually threw over turned his angry expression into a sycophantic smile.

Kenichi also considered using the Sharingan to directly hypnotize him, but considering that would be a bit of an overkill, he decided to just solve the problem with a little money.

Walking on the streets of the Land of Waves, Kenichi looked at the civilians living their peaceful lives and scratched his head; without Kado here, their lives seemed much simpler.

Under the densely clouded sky, people bustled back and forth, most without decent clothing, resembling a small fishing village.

It revealed deep poverty.

This was a country entirely dependent on fishing for survival, with no trace of ninjas. If Kenichi wanted, he could even establish his own ninja village here, but he saw no need.

What's the point of establishing a ninja village here? To have these ordinary people fish for him? And then what would he call himself? The Shadow of Fish?

The thought alone was enough to make many laugh.

Even this unfortunate place didn't have a Daimyo, which disappointed Kenichi; having a Daimyo would have sped up his search.

"Let's go check the port. If it's not there..." Kenichi stroked his chin. If he couldn't find it, he would just have to try his luck in the Land of Fire, where there were plenty of wealthy people.

But perhaps it was luck, as soon as Kenichi arrived at the port, he saw a ship with the [Kado Corporation] logo, with people busily working on it.

"Boom!" A loud noise echoed as lightning flashed across the sky, signaling an approaching storm. The sudden thunder caused one of the workers to flinch, drawing the ire of someone on the ship.

"You clods! Be careful! That's to be sent to the Land of Water for those big shots to enjoy!" Watching the arrogant man on the ship, Kenichi smiled; luck was on his side.

"Kado?" Kenichi called out to the younger man, who instinctively turned around, only to be met with a pair of red eyes and the spinning tomoe of the Sharingan.

Controlling an ordinary person with the Sharingan wasn't too complicated; Kado was caught in the illusion almost instantly and was controlled by Kenichi.

However, Kado was clearly not unprepared, as four ninjas suddenly appeared beside him.

"Water Release: Great Waterfall Technique!" A torrent of water rushed towards Kenichi.

"Really, why do they have to shout out the name of the jutsu? Is it some kind of compulsion?" Kenichi couldn't understand; it was unnecessary to announce it.

He wondered if shouting it out made the jutsu more powerful.

"Kenichi, ninjas who shout out their jutsu are usually third-rate. Real ninjas don't speak when releasing jutsu," his teacher had once answered when Kenichi asked.

Then Kenichi remembered that his teacher in the anime also shouted out jutsu names.

Well, third-rate ninjas confirmed!

Of course, Kenichi knew this was just for the audience to know what jutsu was being used.

But having guard ninjas by Kado's side was within Kenichi's expectations. He slammed his hands on the ground, and a wall of earth rose, blocking the rushing water.

"Murder!" The dockworkers all ran away, which made things much easier for Kenichi.

Otherwise, if these people stayed to watch, the lab would just have a few more test subjects.

Taking advantage of the momentary blockage, Kenichi released his body's sensory abilities, and the next second, the lightning-like patterns appeared around his eyes.

"It's a thunderstorm today," Kenichi looked at the clouds overhead, having seen the lightning earlier, and now, with the Sharingan, he saw even more clearly.

But then, the air around him started to fog up, the fog growing thicker until nothing could be seen.

"A Hidden Mist Technique?" Kenichi almost laughed out loud.

Here's a fun fact: fog conducts electricity. Of course, pure water vapor doesn't conduct electricity, but the fog here was mixed with a lot of impurities, making it conductive.

"Strike down, Thunder Dragon!"

"落下吧,雷龙!"
