Chapter 5: Research of Kenichi Yumigami
"Ah, little Kenichi, I just realized I forgot to bring something. Could you help me send Kakashi back?" Watching Uzumaki Kushina's exaggerated acting, Kenichi took a deep breath.
Why was he increasingly regretting his decision just now?
"Of course, Kushina-nee," Kenichi replied helplessly, but he had no choice but to agree.
However, just as he was about to address her as 'auntie', he noticed the murderous intent on Uzumaki Kushina and the serious head-shaking from behind by Namikaze Minato.
So he decisively chose to call her 'sister'.
Kenichi suddenly felt sympathy for Namikaze Minato, wondering about the future Fourth Hokage's status in his family.
"Then I'll leave it to you~" Uzumaki Kushina continued with a smile, pulling Minato away, and before leaving, Minato turned back to give Kenichi a wink and a thumbs up.

Glancing at the expressionless Kakashi beside him, Kenichi turned and walked away after Minato left, without even a word of courtesy.

After all, he had promised Uzumaki Kushina, and for the sake of future plans, he needed to take it seriously.
Kenichi had no ulterior motives towards Kakashi; after all, Kakashi was a talented ninja, and he could find better alternatives for what Kakashi had, except maybe for swordsmanship.
Kakashi's father was powerful, rumored to surpass the Sannin of Konoha, so the Hatake family's swordsmanship must be formidable. However, Kakashi did not show this talent later on.
But Kenichi knew the principle of not biting off more than one can chew, especially since he was not a particularly talented ninja himself.
Apart from being Orochimaru's student, Kenichi was just an ordinary genin in Konoha, the kind that's cannon fodder.

Kenichi's mood brightened. Although he was a cannon fodder now, once the progress bar was full, he would have the key to becoming a strong ninja.
"Hey Kakashi, I heard you've become a jounin?" Kenichi broke the silence that had lasted the entire way.
Kakashi heard him but did not turn back, stop, or answer; he just kept walking at a steady pace.
Kenichi smirked; the current Kakashi was nothing like the future 'Copy Ninja' Kakashi; he was more like a corpse.
A soulless corpse.
"Do you have nightmares?" Kenichi asked with a playful smile. At this, Kakashi finally paused, but he still did not turn back and continued walking in silence.
Kenichi laughed. Kakashi had been deeply affected by the deaths of Obito and Rin, so it was unlikely he wasn't having nightmares.
This was a psychological issue; in his previous life, it would require a visit to a psychologist. Kenichi didn't know much about that, but he was familiar with genjutsu.
And why would Kenichi, a disciple of Orochimaru, want to master genjutsu?
Naturally, it was for self-preservation.
Although Orochimaru currently had no intention of using Kenichi as a vessel, since his research was not yet perfect, Kenichi still made an effort to master some genjutsu to protect himself from Orochimaru.
To Kenichi, genjutsu was like hypnosis from his previous life, but with very obvious effects. If applied properly, it could be a good method for psychological treatment.
Unfortunately, Kenichi was still just a genin, and with Kakashi possessing the Sharingan, using genjutsu was not convenient.
So Kenichi gave up on the idea of using genjutsu to influence Kakashi and create a dark history to blackmail him in the future.
After sending Kakashi home, Kenichi left without much interaction.

Upon returning home, Kenichi lay on his bed. His house wasn't big; it was a small house given to him by Orochimaru.
But although small, it had everything necessary, even a refrigerator.
Who knew why the ninja world had refrigerators; the science of this world was always a mystery.
Kenichi wasn't in a hurry to sleep. The progress could reach one hundred percent at any moment, and he couldn't sleep. Instead, he sat in a chair, playing with his collection.
Orochimaru was an excellent leader, which was evident in that he paid Kenichi a salary, and a generous one at that, much better than those bosses who only made empty promises.
Because of his own 'golden finger', Kenichi also consciously collected some strange items. Once he finished analyzing the First Hokage's cells, he could use them to analyze other things.
"This piece of amber is quite interesting," Kenichi said, playing with the amber in his hand.
The amber contained an insect that Kenichi had never seen before. He even consulted the insect experts of the Aburame clan in Konoha, but they didn't know this type of insect either.
This piqued Kenichi's interest, and he simply bought it as part of his collection.
However, the most valued item in his collection was something else.
"I wonder how long this thing can last." Kenichi opened the refrigerator and looked at the test tubes inside with an excited smile.
These were collected by his teacher at his request: the blood of the toads from Mount Myoboku, the blood of the snakes from Ryuchi Cave, and the secretions of the slugs.
These were important to Kenichi, but Orochimaru didn't value them much. He had researched them and found nothing, so he readily gave them to Kenichi.
After receiving them, Kenichi pretended to research for a while before giving up, but he kept these three samples.
He wanted to see what kind of power the sages of the three great sage regions possessed. Unfortunately, Orochimaru couldn't obtain the body tissues of the other two sages besides the Slug Sage.
