Joan just got back from visiting her parents when she got a call from her mother-in-law.

"Hello good afternoon ma," Joan said into the phone as she answered the call. 

"Good afternoon Joan, how are you?" Steve's mom asked in a friendly tone.

"I'm fine thank you, and you?" Joan entered her bedroom and started to take off her clothes, the weather was hot and she needed to take a shower. 

"I'm doing okay my dear, are you at the office? I would like to come to see you," Steve's mother said, making Joan pause with what she was doing, why would Steve's mom want to come to see her? Or could it be that Steve had gone to tell her about what was going on in their marriage and now she wanted to come to talk to her about it? No, she doubts that the Steve she knew wouldn't go rattling off such things to his mom. 

"Joan are you there?" Steve's mother asked when she didn't a response from her.

"Ye..s, yes ma. I am not at the office, I'm at home."
