009 Danger in the Corner

"Woah that's so cool! I didn't know you can use a skill! Is what brought us back to life a skill too?"he exclaimed in pure joy, smiling, making some awe sounds here and there, saying repeated questions with an expression I can't comprehend and all of those were really starting to annoy the shit out of me.

"Well I still haven't figured that out because I fainted after I defeated the zombie king, legendary boss, mutated motherfuccer, whatever you wanna call that giant mutated eyeball with muscles that honestly looked disgusting with all the veins popping out" I groaned. Alex laughed quietly and patted my back repeatedly.

"Chill out, I know I'm annoying but I really wanna ask more! And to think you're the very first player who defeated what many tried to kill it's just so cool!" he beamed, going off on another round of his cheerful repeated way of asking questions.

'Man it's annoying as fucc, but I'm glad he's better' I thought amusedly and listen to what he has to ask next while checking the map from time to time. The rod dots were still present on the map, there were twenty of them now but they're pretty far so there's nothing to be alarmed about though I need to stay cautious and alert all the time.

"So is the resurrection a one time thing? And is it only usable once? Oh and can you use it again?" Alex's voice snapped me out of my head and I smiled awkwardly.

"As I said, I still haven't figured that out" I answered making him pout like a child.

"So what if we died? That's pretty useless" he grunted, crossing his arms on his chest grumpily.

'Hey now you're lucky you were also resurrected' I argued in my head.

"Well it's a legendary item no one had ever acquired before so I'm sure it's skill wasn't just a one time thing" I explained making him look at me, the anger going away from his eyes.

'Though I'm sure it has its drawbacks...' was what I wanted to add yet kept it inside of me. For now I'll try to learn everything I can learn about this item and also try to bring out its potential as a 'legendary' item that no one had ever acquired.

"So if you got the watch here with you then does that mean you got the battle coins too? you said you can open the store on that green screen right and you have more than 1m battle coins!" He started shaking me at that point, his smile wide and eyes filled with an otherworldly excitement.

"Come on open the store! Now! now! now!" he commanded, shaking me even more.

At first he was timid, shy and cautious now who the heck is this person right infront of me? what the hell happened to the child that I rescued and thought he was a she?

"Get any louder and we're gonna be in trouble" I warned, pushing his hands away and fixing the crusts in my clothes.

"Well truth be told I can't access the store till I'm level 5 and I don't even know if I have the battle coins from the game here" I explained in annoyance.

"So shut up, you're honestly starting to give me a headache" I added and pinch the bridge of my nose. Alex went quiet and sat a few centimeters away from me, his gaze was directed to the empty shelves and the pout was once again back at his face.

'Is he upset? Jesus, this annoying child' I groaned inside my head yet made no move to try and comfort or apologize, he was annoying and loud so I need to enjoy the extent of this peace and quietness before he went on and became that person that's completely opposite from when I rescued him.

"Aren't you gonna try and say something?" Alex murmured but made no eye contact with me.

I gave him a drool stare "I rather enjoy the silence than comfort a child"

"Who just died and came back to life, oh and I'm not really a child" he added, like he was challenging me.

'Just ignore him, he'll stop' a distant voice in my mind said and that's what I did. I focused on the screen more, opening some panel and scrolling back and forth to find the store in hopes of having my battle coins in game here and buying some equipment without the hassle of travelling unequipped.

"Rude" Alex murmured after being ignored.

"I heard that" I warned and gave him a bored look before looking back at the screen again only to be surprised.

"They're near" I hissed and grabbed Alex's hand, pulling him over near me and covering his mouth before a sound can come out from him just in time for a growl to suddenly echoe that was coming outside. Alex flinched in my arms and gripped the sleeves of my jacket like his life depended on it and all I could do was cuss silently.

'Was something wrong with the watch!?' I lamented as I listen to the growls that kept getting louder and louder.

'Is it perhaps having a malfunction? A minute ago the map showed that the red dots didn't move an inch from a miles away and now they're right outside!?' I thought as I scan the map even more. Exactly 18 Zombies were outside, some of them must be mutated dogs basing from the growls. We need to keep as quiet as possible due to the dogs having very sensitive hearing, one wrong move and the two of us are doomed, I haven't figured out how the resurrection works, what if it was just a one time thing?

The growls started to become a bit quieter yet they were still there, not too far away from us. Right now I couldn't come up with a plan on what to do, we didn't have weapons nor proper gears and sacrificing someone to escape is never my thing.

'Think, come on think!' I groaned inside my head yet no idea was making it's way inside my mind.

'As long as we're quiet we're safe' I sadly agreed to the last option and listened to the growls only for Alex to suddenly cough loudly, I didn't realize I was cutting his airways when I was trying to silence him and his face was a bit purplish. He coughed up some more and I know full well it attracted some attention from the creatures outside.

"Fuck..."
