Stuck in a Zombie Apocalypse Game

How awful would it be when you're so obsessed on a game and you skip meals and sleep just to keep leveling up and when you finally are one of the strongest player and ranked one at the global leaderboards you died. Yes that's right, you freaking died after achieving something you worked hard for, it's sucks but since when was life fair? with success comes a few sacrifices and you're just idiotic enough to sacrifice your own life. If you think all problems ended there and you could just lay down on your deathbed peacefully, you suddenly woke up in a somewhat familiar place. It was the game you're always playing, you were inside it yet everything seemed so real? well you have no time to be confused because a bunch of walking corpse just saw you and would like to take a bite at your flesh.

004 Looking for resources to craft

It was a new day. I couldn't believe that I stayed up till morning without feeling tired. I once again came to some conclusions about this game. If my stamina isn't low I won't be able to feel exhaustion so I could go on without sleep for days but that's another story if I'm moving, searching, running or doing something that would make my stamina go down and since I just stayed here all night after a hearty meal my stamina was untouched. Though I can't keep going like this or I won't survive this place. I need to leave my safe zone somehow and looked for resources to use for crafting some gears and weapons. From the game I know there are stronger zombies than this normal one's and if this is exactly like the game I might encounter them anytime so it's better to be prepared, running away is good if I know there is a limit on how long I'll stay here but since there's none and I could just live my whole life here it's better to gear up and fight for my life.

I stood up and stretched my body, hearing some cracks here and there. I moved my sight towards my surroundings for any danger but it seemed like the coast was currently clear, well inside but outside is another story. With a sigh I switched the watch on and went to check the map.

So far there were no red dots within 10 miles. 10 miles was how far the map can see and if I tried to craft an item and it's farther than 10 miles it would show an arrow on the sides of the map yet I won't see the exact location till I was at least 10 miles near it.

"Alright here we go, if I keep the map on I would know if I'm near danger so everything would be alright" I reassured myself to at least bring back some courage. When I finally gained enough I took a deep breath and stepped outside. The wind instantly hit my face and it carried an awful smell yet I saw it coming so I didn't react.

As I was about to take another step the watch vibrated and a notification popped up from the map.

{Exiting a safe zone, would you like to pin it on the map?}

=Double tap if yes and ignore if no=

"So I was right, this was a safe zone which meant luck wasn't really on my side" I said grimly. I decided not to pin the map cause I may go somewhere far from it and stay on the current place so I don't need this place anymore but I did memorize the coordinates of this place in case I really need to get back here or to store something.

I closed the notification panel and focused on the map. I started the journey towards the north with nothing in mind at first but as I walk for about a few meters I decided to try and find something I could use to craft a gear.

I opened the crafts and scrolled down till I reach the gears then opened it without removing the map, I just made it smaller and set it aside so I can still look at it while crafting. I gained so much knowledge after spending the whole night reading the basic and advance tutorials then figured other stuff out with the help of my experience and knowledge about the game.

I kept scrolling till I find some gears that are easy to craft, well it was currently what I can craft with my current level, other panels are still locked while the available was greyed out.

I checked the map once again and there were no enemies nearby so I focused on the green screen infront of me.

{Gears}

=Footwear=

<Light combat boots>

<Heavy steel toed boots>

<Light running shoes>

(Other items locked till leveling up)

=Armor=

<Thick leather jacket>

<Bullet proof vest>

<Leather padded shirt>

(Other items locked till leveling up)

=Accessory=

<Night vision sunglasses>

(Other items locked till leveling up)

I looked at the available gears with a disappointed frown. Everything was basic except for the glasses yet I know it was hard to craft. The bulletproof vest would be helpful only if another player is attacking me, to zombies it was nothing cause they can just bite wherever they want. The leather jacket might be helpful yet I know it would lessen my stamina two times faster because of how thick it was, which meant I would be sweating all over. The leather padded shirt was just plain and there's nothing really special about it unless I was in the game, all of this stuff have stats that help me last long in the battle or at least lessen the damage I'm taking from the zombies but here, I don't think it's gonna work out.

With a heavy sigh I kept going, closing the gear panel and opening the food instead.

{Food}

=Basic=

<Coffee bread>

<Baked potato>

<Honey glazed potatoes>

<Baked carp>

<Baked mudfish>

<Garlic Bread>

(Other items locked till leveling up)

=Advance(Locked till lvl 5)

<Medic Kit> (Locked)

<Ramen noodles> (Locked)

<Stir Fried Ramen> (Locked)

<Turtle soup> (Locked)

<Chocolate> (Locked)

<Honey Medicine> (Locked)

<Oriental Concoction> (Locked)

(Other items locked till leveling up)

With a contented smile I chose honey glazed potatoes, I was always curious on what those tasted and as a fan of honey I would like to try though something suddenly caught my interest, it was the advance food. Last night I used the 'emergency skill' and it gave me a ramen cup noodle but it says here ramen noodles are locked till I reach level 5 so how is this possible.

"Is it because it was a cup noddle and not a noodle that needs a few ingredients to be made?" I murmured in question then shook my head and focused on the map that now had arrows on the sides.

There are six arrows up north that says honey and two arrows on every side, east and west that says potatoes. I didn't know how far it was but I decided since I was moving north I'll find the honey first before the potatoes and also find another shelter on my way before nighttime falls.

Everything would've been fine up to that point, after minutes of walking in a normal pace till I finally found one exact place for getting honey on the map, I suddenly noticed it. A blue dot two miles away from me on the northeast and it seemed like it wasn't alone. Four red dots were tailing behind it and if it didn't stop it would soon meet a dead end up ahead.

"Come on I'm not in the mood for this" I groaned but to be honest it was just the fear inside me that was making me think twice of helping whoever it was yet my conscience won't let me sleep later even though I don't need sleep.

"Oh fuck it"

I ran towards it's direction as fast as I can before it can reach the dead end.
