Naruto: Xianxia edition. This is a Chinese fanfic in very Chinese style. Instead of Japanese influence, it's fully Chinese. This fic is basically 160 chapters of Second Ninja World War straight, with the MC rapidly growing up, but even after all this time, he's still 13 years old, so there's no real romance beyond kissing and petting. The development of strength is all right, the combat scenes are perhaps a bit above average, but since this story is just war stuff after war stuff, it's rather monotonous. The technical quality of writing is... barely average. Ever read a MTL Xianxia? Yeah, it's reminiscent of that, cleaned up and made legible. The biggest problem here is that the MC seems to be a bit of an idiot, and that the author is forcing canon. Despite being far into the past, with insane potential, extremely great fame, recognized as hero of Konoha, the MC takes no steps to prevent anything that happened in canon... he's making plans about after the Uchiha clan gets massacred, controlling Akatsuki, becoming missing nin... when, in fact, he has a realistic shot at becoming the Hokage, and making the Uchiha clan flourish. Despite his constant desire for more and more fame and reputation, he seems incapable of using it in any way. He could kill Obito, politically fight against Danzo, prevent the Kyuubi attack... he could make the past much more beneficial to him, but instead, he seems completely focused on 'canon' Naruto timeline, 20 years into he future... The story only focuses on canon events and characters, the Uchiha clan and the village are barely mentioned, the author takes great care to not have anyone mentioned in canon killed off, only forced to retreat, so he can cheaply play out canon as it happened... basically, the plot feels railroaded and forced to happen like it did in canon due to the author's lack of imagination and skill as a writer, despite all the changes the MC has made, and could make.

I really like this fic, it's one of the best I've found and am reading. I like the mc and how the harem is being built, the story so far is being very enjoyable for me, the translation is very good and the stability of updates makes me happy.
