Assessment

"Eevee, please don't splash the water. Be quiet," Jun said. Suddenly, Eevee jumped into the lake without a second thought, causing water to splash all over Jun and wetting his clothes and Bagon.

As he watched Eevee splashing around, Jun couldn't help but feel like they had chosen the wrong profession. With Eevee's cute appearance and playful personality, they could have become excellent Pokemon coordinators if they worked hard. However, it was a shame that Pokemon Contests were not yet popular in Kanto. Otherwise, he could have pursued it as his third profession.

"Bag~" Bagon called out Jun

"No more play. Remember, we have to go to Saffron city after this," Jun said as he keep wiped Bagon's round head

Bagon only looked at Jun and then turned around and ran off.

Jun shook his head and was a bit confused as to why his aunt had left Bagon with him since she was the owner. She said had left Bagon with him and suggested that he let it play with smaller Pokemon to help it develop. While it's not make sense for Jun but since they are family, he shrugged it off.

Jun noticed the small water-type Pokemon playing with Lapras. Fortunately, lapras was a gentle Pokemon and didn't mind playing with smaller Pokemon. Jun had brought Lapras to his mansion to recuperate its mental trauma slowly and set it free to swim in the artificial lake.

"Eevee, come here. It's time to dry you up," Jun called out as he finished drying up Bagon.

After drying up Eevee, Jun walked toward his mansion and saw his aunt hugging Bagon and Altaria.

"Jun, are you ready?" she asked.

"Yes," Jun replied.

Today was the day of Jun's makeup assessment, as he had missed the original assessment due to Lapras's accident. He and his aunt were going to the school in Saffron City for the assessment.

"Let's go then," Jun said. Both he and his aunt boarded Altaria and flew directly to the school in Saffron City.

------

"Are all five of you here?" asked the academy teacher as he scanned the group of little Pokemon in front of him.

"Alright, I won't waste any more time. You're already late for the original assessment, so we're going to increase the difficulty by one level for you to pass. Understand?" he asked

"Yes!" the four others exclaimed, while Jun simply nodded.

"Now, you have 15 minutes to prepare, and the assessment will be held here. Your performance will be included in your selection score, so remember that it's not just about your Pokemon, but also about you as a trainer. I hope you take it seriously," the teacher added.

Scarlett School, where Jun was taking the assessment, was a large Trainer School that integrated middle and high school. The curriculum was based on elite education distributed by the Pokemon Alliance, and there were various classes available such as trainer, researcher, breeder, and more.

Jun had chosen the researcher class as his primary class, as it was choosen first by his predecessor, and the trainer class as his secondary class. Since Saffron City was the largest and busiest city in Kanto, and the school produced a great number of trainers with high teaching standards.

After preparing his Eevee and Beldum, Jun quickly made his way to the assessment venue, where he found two people waiting for him: one dressed in a referee uniform, while the other was his opponent, whom he had already met before, standing on the other side of the battle arena.

"Hello," Jun greeted them before they nodded in response.

"Since you're already here, let's start with the assessment. Participant assessment number four, Jun Falken. Let me explain the assessment to you. It's a one-on-one battle, and your opponent today is Trainer Alvis your senior. There will be no second Pokemon used here, so you must use the starter Pokemon that you picked at the expo. Do you have any questions?" the referee explained.

"No," Jun shook his head

"Alright, preparation for battle starts now. You have 5 minutes," the referee declared.

Jun took his position and looked at his opponent, wondering which Pokemon he would use. To his surprise, Trainer Alvis, his senior released a Bulbasaur, one of the starter Pokemon in Kanto.

[Bulbasaur]

[Type: GRASS POISON]

[Gender: Male]

[Species: Seed Pokemon]

[Potential: Elite]

[Abilities: - ]

[Level: 20 [26/100] (Rookie)

[Moves: Growl, Tackle, Vine Whip, Poison Powder, Razor Leaf, Leech Seed, (TM) Toxic]

[+ Tap for breed scheme]

Jun's expression became serious. Bulbasaur had two Poison-type attacks and three Grass-type attacks. In a battle between Eevee and Bulbasaur, Eevee had the advantage in terms of moveset. However, in terms of quality, Bulbasaur's moves were more powerful than Eevee's.
