Strongest Dragon Mage

Rohan felt an acidic sear in his throat as he woke up from his dream—he searched his body immediately for the fatal strike his best friend had dealt upon him. Was everything a dream? No. Everything that happened in his first life was too bitter and cruel to be just a nightmare. Rohan the Last Dragon Mage had travelled back in time, sixteen years before he is slain by the people he trusted. "Forget saving the world," he huffed in cold sweat, "I'm going to ruin you all."

Chapter 24 The Call of Dragons

Rohan stirred in his bed, a peculiar sensation creeping over him. He felt hot. Like he was suddenly being roasted alive.

As his eyes fluttered open, he momentarily saw in his mind's eye flashes of glistening blue scales and golden horns, an image that seemed to surge through his thoughts with an uncanny intensity. She's calling him.

Azure.

Beneath Rohan's skin, the mana veins pulsed with a radiant blue light, casting an eerie glow in his dim room. His mind continued to reel, and he found himself ensnared in visions of a distant world, a realm inhabited only by dragons.

Azure, can you hear me?

Desperation filled him as he attempted to call out to Azure.

Rohan's heart raced, his chest heaving with anxious anticipation. Beads of sweat formed on his brow, and his muscles tensed. He felt like his very being was being pulled toward those vivid images of dragons.

He closed his eyes tightly, delving deep within himself, trying to connect to the magical bond they once shared. "Azure," he whispered in his thoughts, hoping that their connection transcended the boundaries of time. It felt like shouting into a void, not knowing if she could hear him.

Rohan?

It was like hearing a pin drop in utter silence. A glimmer of blue scales emerged from the darkness in his mind.

But then, the vision faded, and he was left with a longing ache in his chest. Rohan's eyes snapped open, and he was back in his room, his surroundings returning to focus. The magical bond was somehow still there.

He knew he couldn't give up on reestablishing that connection, no matter the challenges that lay ahead.
