Strongest Dad In The Apocalypse

Can't a father go out with his family again without something ruining it? I would have been happy if it had been just traffic causing the issue, but no, it had to be something much more outrageous – the apocalypse. Imagine what was supposed to be a family outing turning into a fight for survival against zombies in an instant. It doesn't change much, though. I'm still trying to be the best husband and father I can be, and the apocalypse ain't changing that!

Entering The Store

Zombies were highly sensitive to sound, and as long as one could manoeuvre quietly, the threat posed by zombies should significantly diminish.

Malachi and David had come to understand this through their previous experiments with the undead.

As Malachi moved cautiously, he took great care to minimise any noise, ensuring he wouldn't attract the zombies. However, the risk he was taking was substantial.

As Malachi passed by the zombies to return to his son and the store more quickly, making a single sound loud enough to draw their attention and pinpoint his location could prove disastrous. Even though the zombies were slow, he would find himself in the midst of a sizable group, greatly increasing the chances of getting surrounded.

Thankfully nothing happened and he was able to get away from the zombies soon enough.

Moments later, Malachi reunited with his son.

"That was very dangerous, Dad," David immediately spoke, his voice hushed.Malachi didn't argue with his son and nodded in agreement. He then began to speak.

"It was indeed a risky act, but fortunately, it made many of the zombies to leave the store. Now we can explore it and gather some supplies." As Malachi spoke, he used his unique ability to assess the situation inside the store.

There are only a few left Malachi thought with a slight frown. He had suspected that he might not have been able to draw out all the zombies, and his assumption had proven true.

Fortunately, only three zombies remained inside the store, and they were spaced apart from each other.

Although the number was considerably lower than the initial swarm, even if it increased to seven, Malachi would not let the store out of his sight.

He couldn't accept the idea of risking his life for nothing.

There are only three left. Even though I haven't fought any zombies yet, with their slow speed, they should be manageable.

Despite the many killings he had witnessed since the apocalypse began, Malachi hadn't killed a single zombie yet. There were several reasons for this, even though zombies were the most populous monsters and had the crystal heart Malachi believed would be beneficial to him and David.

Firstly, he still saw them as humans.

It was a peculiar perspective, given that the zombies were nothing like the humans they had been in their former lives.

From what he had heard from Mia and could deduce himself, these zombies were now human-eaters, and they should no longer be considered human.

This was undoubtedly accurate, but despite their gruesome appearance and darkened skin, these zombies still resembled humans.

Perhaps this perception would change over time, but Malachi couldn't bring himself to kill them just yet.

He was just an ordinary father trying to be the best he could for his family before the apocalypse arrived. He understood that life might never be the same again, and if he wanted to survive, he might have to make tough decisions.

Malachi knew he had to adapt to the new world.

I can't remain like this for the sake of my family Malachi thought as he tightened his grip on the metal bat.

"Let's go," Malachi said, turning to David and speaking with determination. David nodded in agreement.

As they cautiously made their way toward the store's open entrance, Malachi instructed his son, "It's going to be dark inside, so create one of those fire spears, but don't shoot at anything. I'll handle it myself. We don't want to risk blowing ourselves up or trapping ourselves."

"Okay, Dad," David replied, and a fire spear materialised beside him. Malachi nodded, and their surroundings immediately brightened when the fire spear appeared.

Seconds later, they entered the store. The first sight that greeted Malachi and David upon entering was scattered items and shelves strewn across the floor. They quickly deduced that the zombies were responsible for this mess.

Ignoring the disarray around them, Malachi turned to his son and gestured for him to keep quiet before whispering, "Follow me." David obediently trailed behind his father.

Malachi led David to the location closest to the nearest zombie. He decided that he would be the one to strike first. It was time for him to adapt, and he believed it was better to do so sooner rather than later.
