1 The birth of a child

EXCERPT….

"Mr. Yun, I'm pregnant!" A female secretary in her 20s barged into the lovely office of a man in his 30s with excitement lacing her tone.

The man was stunned for a moment before leaping for joy. "Finally! I can finally become a father!"

The two engaged in a lovey dovey moment that didn't last for long before the man received a call.

"Hello?"

'CEO Yun, please hurry down to the hospital. Madam is about to have a miscarriage!'

"What?! Mis– miscarriage?"

The man didn't wait another second, nor spare his secretary another glance before bolting out of the office, leaving his Secretary in a daze.

A few days later…

"Listen, my time with you was a mistake. My wife couldn't give birth after ten years of marriage, which motivated me to cheat on her. Now, she's pregnant. Name your price, let's kill this thing that's going on between us." Mr. Yun said while pulling open the cap of his pen, ready to write on his checkbook.

"B– but, but President Yun, this wasn't our agreement. You said you wanted a child and I'm giving you one." The secretary said with a slight frown of displeasure.

Mr. Yun sighed and put the pen away. He walked out from the back of his desk and held her shoulders. "I know. My wife is also pregnant. She almost lost our two-month-old baby because of stress. I don't want to put her under pressure, or any kind of unfortunate circumstances for a second time. You should understand, Katherine."

"And me? I'm also two months pregnant."

"What is wrong with you?!" He hissed and started pacing around his office while racking his brain for a solution. Not long after, he got one.

"Listen, Katherine, my wife mustn't know about your pregnancy. So, here's the thing... The doctor said that my wife can't carry another child after this pregnancy. In other words, if you manage to give birth to a baby with a different gender from my wife's child, I'll accept responsibility for your baby as its foster father."

"Foster father? Are you kidding!"

"Katherine! Don't go for a mile while I'm offering you an inch!"

Katherine took a deep breath to calm her raging heart and then asked, "What if I don't give birth to the opposite gender? What will happen to my child if it shares the same gender as your legitimate child?"

"Then I'm sorry. I can't have my wife bother about our child's rights to my properties."

"In other words?" Katherine waited for a response with bated breath.

Thick silence hung in the air as the man stared fixedly into her eyes. "Then… it shouldn't exist."

"President Yun!!" Katherine yelled and hugged her stomach in a protective stance.

Seven months later…

'Katherine, I heard you've given birth. What is the gender?' Mr. Yun asked over the phone.

Katherine stared at her child that was being wrapped in a shawl. She could clearly see the nurse covering his tiny penis and parted her lips to ask, "Your wife gave birth to both genders. What choice do I still have?"

'If it's a girl, that can be ignored. But if it's a boy, then it has to be–'

Her stomach churned and she immediately cut him off, "It's a girl!"
