1 Welcome to Losvillion

Fayden Leywin POV :

As the three of us make our way deep into the forest, I didn't once turn back, not even when I heard Reynolds' voice.

I don't want to talk to anyone for the moment.

Noctis noticed that, and kept silent even though he most likely had multiple questions.

Zeke meanwhile was quietly walking by my side.

After reaching deep enough into the forest, Noctis suddenly halted.

He pulled up a dagger, pitch black blade with electric blue runes in it.

And stabbed it in the air.

And strangely enough, cracks began spreading from the dagger.

With a single yank he pulled the dagger down, leaving an arc of blackness in its wake.

Looking into the arc, all I could see was an infinite expanse of shadows, with the occasional blue lightning in it.

Having served its purpose, the dagger crumbled into ashes.

He moved to the side of the rift, and indicated me to enter it.

Trusting him, I took a step forward into the dark abyss.

It was a strange feeling when I entered the rift.

I felt no gravity working to pull me down, nor did I feel any form of air resistance.

It took us only a few seconds to cross it.

Stepping out of the rift, the first thing I notice is the protective barrier around us, and the dark blue tinted landscape.

"Huh?" I breathed out.

"It is necessary, there are beings here, miles stronger than you two. Some might even be stronger than the lesser asuras." Noctis spoke for the first time since we departed.

"What?! How?! I thought asuras are the strongest beings there are." I sputter out, caught off guard by what he said.

He shook his head, "They are, but only the stronger ones. There are quite a few pushovers among them. Anyways, we should get to Losvillion before the stronger ones sense us."

I shook my head and just accepted the fact.

"So, why couldn't you just have the rift open in Losvillion?" I asked.

"Because of our defensive measures we cannot open a rift into the city, our shields prevent that." He replied.

"I see."

Taking a few steps away from us he begins to change forms, as the area around him turns dark.

An instant later, he emerges in his canine form, a lot larger than before.

"Get on." He said.

As I climb up, I notice Zeke changing into his humanoid form from the corner of my eyes. And Noctis' gaze lingers on him for a bit.

After getting on him, and settling into a rather comfortable position Noctis spoke, "Brace yourselves."

And a pair of wings emerge from his sides, with a wingspan of twice his size.

But rather then being made of flesh, bones and feathers, it was made purely out of Nacht.

Guess it can construct more than weapons.

Then, we took off to the skies

Half an hour of flying over the clouds later, I notice a mass of floating land in the horizon.

"Is that Losvillion?" I asked.

"A part of it, yes."

"A part of it?"

"Losvillion is not a fixed place. It is a cluster of floating masses of land. They are never stationary." He elaborated.

"So you're telling me Losvillion is something like a cluster of miniature moons revolving around this....realm?" I confirm.

"In simpler terms." He replied.

"What is this place anyways? Is it like a different planet?"

"In a way. It's the same as the world we came from. It just exists on a different plane."

"Like a parallel universe." I mutter under my breath.

"Yes, just like that. I didn't realize the Dicathians had advanced enough to make that deduction." He spoke, having heard me mumble.

"Yeah, they didn't. That's just something I remembered from my last life." I answered him.

"Oh? How advanced were they?" He asked.

"Thousands of years ahead of Dicathen." I replied instantly.

"Interesting..."

By now I could clearly see the floating island, and looking carefully I notice a blue translucent shield surrounding the place.

Either that's some form of mana arts, or they are just that advanced.

Or, it could be a mix of both.

Or that, yeah.

As we neared the city Noctis showed no signs of stopping.

"Uh, Noctis? It would be nice if we reached there in one piece." I commented.

Noctis doesn't respond, and dives headfirst into the shield.

And just when it seemed collision was imminent, a small part of the shield opened up in a hexagon and we passed through unscathed.

As we zoomed across the city, I was mesmerized by the view.

The city looked downright futuristic in comparison to Dicathen.

Polished concrete roads crisscrossed the entire landscape, and multi storey buildings dotted the landscape.

The buildings appeared to be made out of metal molds, not bricks, and had an almost rectangular shape as if molded from the purest of minerals/materials.

Yet patches of natural flora existed, not only in gardens but throughout the city.

It was the perfect combination of science and nature.

In the center of the city hovered a smaller landmass, almost triangular in shape with a flat base.

(Like this)

Noctis headed straight for the hovering portion of the city.

And even as we landed, and got down from Noctis, my gaze was still fixated on the city.

Not to say Zeke was much better.

"Come now, you can stop gaping." Noctis spoke, a hint of amusement in his voice.

"Yeah. It's just, I expected it to be a bit more...." I trail off, struggling to find the proper term.

"Primitive?" Noctis suggested.

I nodded.

"Well we weren't called the smartest of the asura for nothing." He explained.

"I guess so." I mutter.

He shakes his head and turns around, "Come on. let me introduce you to the council."

"The council? You guys don't have a king?" I asked.

"No, all of our decisions are taken to vote."

"I see."

The inside was just as beautiful as the outside. The polished black steel interir was accentuated with bright neon blue lights following the walls and ceilings in a geometric pattern.

Doors came at regular intervals, each looked automated with a keypad near it.

They are pretty damn advanced.

You don't say.

...Since when did you become so snarky?

I have been around you for too long.....I like to call this the Fayden effect.

Shaddup.

I swear I heard him snickering mentally.

Soon the corridor comes to an end, and a huge door stands in out way.

"Well then, beyond these doors lie five of the eight most reputed Marchosias in Losvillion." Noctis spoke.

"What about the other three??" I asked.

"Valen and Riza are currently on a mission, as for the last one." Here he flshes a grin to me, "You're looking at him."

And he pushes the door open.

Beyond the door, 5 individuals were sitting on their chairs, including Sierra.

I bow my head down in respect to them, not knowing if they would react badly otherwise.

"Oh, don't be so uptight with us, you are our champion are you not?" A middle aged woman with long black hair and forest green eyes commented.

I visibly relaxed.

Thankfully they aren't arrogant pricks like the nobles and royalty back in Dicathen.

"Welcome, Fayden Leywin, to the capital city of Losvillion, Valencia. I am Korzag, the leader of this council." The man in the bottom of the U in the table spoke up, he had greyish white hair that reached his neck, and dark brown eyes.

I nod at him, "Thank you for agreeing to train me."

"Of course we would train you. You are an important member of the marchosias, besides you raised Zeke as if he was your own son." Sierra spoke for the first time since I came here.

....That's questionable with the amount of swearing I have done in front of him.

Zeke snickers mentally.

They each introduce themselves to me after that.

The short white haired guy was called Azrul, while the woman who had spoken to me first was Xena.

Since I already knew Noctis and Sierra they didn't need to introduce themselves, but they still went through with it, likely for show.

When it came to the final person, he had to be shaken awake by Azrul.

"Wha- Oh are they here?" He looked around confused, before his gaze landed on me.

He stares at me curiously for a few seconds, before Azrul nudges him again.

"Oh right. The names Faran." He composed himself.

I nod at them, "So, when do I begin?"

"Tomorrow, for now you need to rest. Your body hasn't healed completely." Noctis answered.

"Fair enough."

"Come, I will show you your room" He continued.

As I head out, with Zeke, Noctis and Sierra in tow, Sierra notices the tensiom between Noctis and Zeke.

"What happened between them?" She asked me.

I shrug, "Hell if I know."

"Did you at least talk to each other?" She turned to Noctis.

Who silently shook his head.

A tick mark appears on her forehead, "Why exactly did you do that."

"I didn't know what to talk about. Besides...." He trailed off glancing at me.

Huh?

What did I do?

Sierra seemed equally confused, "What?"

Was it because of the relationship between Zeke and me?

Noctis sighed, and spoke in a whisper, thinking that I couldn't hear him, "He had an incident with his family...."

....

That's considerate of you but...

"If you're afraid of hurting my feelings, then don't be. What happened with Alice and Reynolds should not affect your family."

"What happened? You don't need to say anything if you are uncomfortable with it." Sierra asked, albeit a bit timidly.

"I'm assuming you know about my.....unique circumstances?" I begin, and she nodded.

"Well, I told them about it, and they didn't really take it very well. And I might as well be an orphan now." My voice stayed monotone and my face betrayed no emotion.

She gasped and held a hand over her mouth, "That's horrible!"

I shrugged, "I'm fine. I'm used to losing families anyways." I mutter the last part to myself.

Suddenly I am pulled into an embrace, "Uhhhh, Sierra?"

"You poor poor child. No one should have to go through that." She spoke.

Child?

Well I guess to asuras I would be considered a child.

I pat her back awkwardly.

Seconds later she lets go, but her hands stay on my shoulders, "For as long as you are here, you can consider us your parents for the while before you reconcile with them."

I smiled at her, understanding why she was doing this, "I'm sorry, but I'll need to deny that. I'm fine really, you don't have to go to that lengths for me."

As for reconciliation....I don't know if that's ever gonna happen.

She looked at me, worried, and began to speak when Noctis cut her off, "Very well, but don't hesitate to come to us if you need someone to talk to."

I nod at him appreciatively and began walking once more.

On the way there, another thought struck me, "What will happen to Zeke while I'm training? I'm assuming most of my day will go like that."

Noctis nodded, "Yes, you will unfortunately not get much free time. As for Zeke, he will be trained in a way different to yours."

"I see..."

"But I don't want to leave you alone." Zeke spoke up.

"Don't worry about me Zeke, spend some time with your family. Trust me, you will regret it otherwise." I try to reassure him.

"Will I get to see you at least?" He asked.

"While not frequently, you will be allowed to visit him from time to time. Although, I don't think you two will be able to talk with each other for very long during the first portion of your training." Noctis answered his question.

"Huh? What do you mean by that?"

"You will see." He refused to elaborate.

Oh well, guess it's going to be a surprise then.
