6 Chapter 6

'I have wanted to hold you

Have your hair tangled in my hand

Your breathing soft and doey eyes

Watch you mumble nonesense in dreamland

And say , you in your nightgown

Your Lilac curtains swaying in the air

My heart thrumming in my ribcage

The moonlight making you more fair

Oh love, how to-"

Drake abruptly stopped , letting out a low whine. He ran his hand through his hair, disappointed in himself. Why couldn't he just write a decent song on her? If he could write songs on his favourite plushie, (a bunny stuffed toy named 'bonbon'), then why not her?! She was the love of his life! Love was supposed to give you inspiration, then why was he stuck in the middle of nowhere?

Did he really, actually, 'love' her? Or was it just, casualty? Drake decided to take a stroll down the road to freshen his mind.

"I love you more than everything", Amy visibly cringed at the sappy romcom she had chosen to watch. She was trying to forget about Nolan and move on. Her fever was gone but the nausea sometimes came back. Sighing, she shut the tv off. Peeking outside her window, the tranquil weather attracted her.

She decided to take a walk. She needed some fresh air. The park with the Delphinium garden seemed perfect. She was easily tired as she finally reached the park, sweet laughter of children filling her ears. She smiled to herself at the sight. The different shades of blue swayed in the mild air, enthrilling her senses. She scrolled down to the garden, her heart feeling free.

As she was about to touch a flower bud, a very known voice called,"well if it isn't my lovely fan!" Amy flinched at the voice, heartbeat quickening.

"D-Drake?"

"Yes lovely. It is I." Amy giggled sweetly at his words, he was a man of humour. He was in a plain white tee, sleeves rolled up, hair a little messy in a ponytail. He contrasted perfectly against the bluish backdrop, the Delphiniums complementing him perfectly. In simpler words, he looked ethereal.

"I didn't think I would find you here. You come here often?" Amy nodded as her eyes sank in his appearance. He looked troubled. His eyes didn't have the usual calm demeanor, they kept swaying back and forth, his constant tapping of feet against the ground also gave away the fact that he was anxious.

"You sure like to ogle people huh?" Amy blushed at the blunt comment, apologies flying out of her lips in an instant. Drake burst out with laughter, his eyes crinkling at the corners.

"I wasn't ogling I swear! You just look... troubled." Amy lowered her eyes to the ground, unsure if she had just freaked him out.

"I was just kidding! You should see your face!" He almost suffocated from laughter as Amy pouted in embarassment.

"But you are an observant girl. I am troubled." His smile faltered.

"I'm probably meddling too much. I'm so sorry."

"It's okay. You don't have to be so nervous around me. Let go a bit." His usual grin was back and Amy already felt a lot better.

"If you want to share, you can." Drake gestured towards the nearby bench for them to sit and chat. Amy gladly obliged.

"I'm facing a song-block. It's like.."

"When you want to produce songs but lose inspo or fail completely?" Amy finished his sentence.

Drake raised his brow, amused that she could read him,"Exactly. But how did you get it so correct? That's exactly what I would say."

Amy smiled shyly,"My dad is a musician, sort of. I'm acquainted with these phrases."

Drake's grin grew wider,"That's amazing! He explained song-block so well. He must be a great musician." Amy tried to deny out of politeness.

"How long have you been facing this?"

"Three weeks." Amy nodded in understanding.

"Actually, I think I get the reason. The song is for my girlfriend. It's her birthday and she always whines that I don't write her songs. So I decided to gift her one." Amy felt a drop of disappointment in her heart. Of course he had a girlfriend. Why did it even disappoint her ?

"But, I just feel like my heart doesn't want to. It feels as if I'm just writing lyrics because I can, not cause I want to. This whole thing made me question if I even really love her. And I dunno what to do next." Drake bit his lower lip in annoyance. Amy looked at him in awe.

"A song can make you question if you love her or not?"

"My songs are like these Delphiniums. They're just swaying together in unison. No one to disturb, no one to annoy. But if anyone were to put a Daffodil between them, it would stand out. It would be glaring at us. And the beauty of the garden would be destroyed. The girl I claim to love now seems like a Daffodil to me. And I can't let her destroy my Delphiniums."

"If you're in love, shouldn't she make the garden even better for you? By planting flowers of herself?" Drake smiled mildly.

"I like to think no. I don't allow others to plant in my garden. They should stand and admire from afar. But she is currently intruding."

"What if you just tell her you can't write a song?" Amy tilted her head in confusion.

"Then that would be a lie. Because I can write a song. But I don't want to."

"You know what? You're just like my dad. Maybe this is a common trait in artists?"

"Why do you say that?"

"My dad left my mom because he thought she was intruding too. He said he was trying to break him and mend him into her liking. You're saying the same things."

"But your dad is right. He's a clever man. I should meet him someday." Drake looked up to the sky, the Delphiniums gently caressing the air. He snapped out of the daze as Amy let out a loud sneeze.
