Olivia looked at her husband, Richard, and gently put her hand on top of his. She was trying to grab his attention. 

"Sweetheart, how was work today?" 

Richard looked at his wife with a stern glare.

Just fine darling, Everything is just fine". 

Richard looked a lot like his daughter Serenity. He had dark black hair but his eyes where just light blue. None of Serenity's family members had the same eyes as her. That was what made her so special to the rest of the family. Serenity couldn't help but let out what she was holding in.

 "Father, Mother... Why must I marry Ben? He's cruel and disgusting". 

Olivia and Richard just looked at each other before looking at serenity.

 "Ben's family has connections that will keep our bloodline strong, pure, and wealthy. His family will keep you safe from people who wish to steal your eyes." Richard said while glaring at Serenity.

Serenity just looked more upset "He's horrid! He only cares about himself and I'm perfectly fine taking care of myself! I don't want to marry that disgusting ma-!" Her father banged his hands on the table.

 "SILENCE!". He glared more intensely.

Serenity went silent.

Richard sighed clearly now angry "You will marry him whether you like it or not.. You don't have a choice.." Richard said. 

 "Im sorry father.." Serenity said, upset. She ate silently for the rest of the night. she didn't want to cry in front of her parents. They would think she was pathetic for crying.
