chapter 4

Serenity rushed to her room. She did as her mother told her and started to undress, removing her long, beautiful blue dress. In her room was a lovely white dresser. She opened a patiently crafted drawer. There were intricate patterns carved into the wood. Serenity pulled out a light green sweater dress. Her mother told her to keep the outfit simple. She walked to her private, beautiful bathroom. It sparkled with cleanliness. She brushed her teeth. Then she brushed her tanzanite hair. It shimmered as if each strand was woven from brown and slate colored  gemstones, like a summer storm. She put on perfume to smell nice.

After Serenity was done getting ready, she walked downstairs. Her father, Richard, and her mother, Olivia, were waiting. So were the guests. Serenity greeted her guests with a kind warm smile. Her wealthy neighbors returned the greeting.

"Hello Ben". Serenity said to her neighbors' son.

"It's great seeing you again sweet Serenity". Ben had a charming smile. He went in for a hug. Serenity politely hugged back, yet she always had an uneasy feeling when she was around him. She only stayed around Ben to please her parents.

"Well come on now. Lunch is waiting in the dinning room" Olivia said as she escorted the guests to the dinning room.

Amazingly crafted meals were waiting.  Different colored macarons, cute looking sandwiches and a pot full of tea sat on the table. Everybody took their seat at the table. The adults immediately started friendly chatting. Everybody was enjoying their lunch while Serenity  sat awkwardly. Naturally, she was seated next to Ben. She quietly ate her lunch. Like always, Ben tried to start a conversation with Serenity. She didnt really enjoy talking to Ben. He was cocky and childish.
