Emma Dies

Emma's vision started to fade in and out, her abdomen felt like it was on fire. Her body ached and burned and she screamed and writhed on the ground in pain holding her stomach. She heard a sudden scream of rage that was not hers and she looked up to see Seth. He had seen the whole incident and was so furious he had rushed to her rescue without a second thought. Emma's hand reached out for Seth before it fell limp. The poison from the daggers was quickly spreading throughout her body, paralyzing her limbs one by one as it coursed through her veins. She knew she would be dead soon. All she could think of is that she hadn't gotten the chance to tell Seth how much he meant to her.

Seth was in a rage. Distraught seeing Emma dying on the ground and Sirin circling her he had jumped in to save her. He picked up the largest boulder he possibly could, transforming into his true form. A giant bat-like humanoid with incredible strength, he had hid that he was a vampire from Emma even though she had known that he was, in some way, like her. He was done hiding. He was done playing Sirin's game.

Seth hurled a giant boulder at Sirin so hard that even Sirin couldn't comprehend what had hit him. Sirin was knocked half-way across the clearing and landed with a large thud on his back, sliding further until his back slammed against a tree, the boulder rolling towards him as he tried to stop it. Too late. The boulder smashed him hard into the tree and rolled over him, completely breaking the tree and seriously injuring Sirin to the point of near death. He lay crumpled up on the ground.

He tried to get up to his feet but he couldn't at first, he was badly injured; enough so that he couldn't properly fight Seth. With a wicked smile he took one last attempt at conjuring magic to kill Emma and Seth, hurdling more daggers at the couple to finish them off but something shattered them before they could reach the couple. "A barrier? Hmmm. His love must be protecting her. After all, the love of a vampire is extremely powerful protection. It's not worth getting killed over. I will try this again when I recover from my wounds," Sirin thought.

Angered and still dazed, Sirin staggered to the edge of the clearing and then shot up suddenly into the sky. Then, wings erupted from his back and with one powerful thrust of his wings he shot up into the sky. Sirin was gone.

"COWARD!" Seth screamed at him, even though he knew he couldn't hear him. He was still enraged. He started to cry and slowly transformed back into his human form. He then rushed to Emma who was convulsing in the dirt a couple yards behind him as the poison had now spread nearly completely throughout her body.

Seth burst into tears and held his hand over hers and said, "Emma, Emma you have to let me try to stop the bleeding. Emma, I'm here, you have to move your hands for me." Emma could hear Seth but his voice sounded far off, like a dream. She was dying, she knew he couldn't save her even if he tried but she trusted him.

Her hand moved from the deep gash in her stomach, it started to bleed out worse and set put his hand on it and shoved his fingers to try to pinch it shut to give him a little more time to figure out what to do.

No, not Emma. She couldn't leave him, not now. He had to save her, he had to try. Emma reached her bloody hand up weakly to touch his face as her eyes turned white, the poison finally reaching her heart and brain as she whispered, "Seth.. I love you."

Then life faded from her, her hand slumped. Her eyes went lifeless as they stared up at him. She had taken her last breath and he couldn't save her. Seth screamed. He screamed, and screamed. "NO! PLEASE EMMA NO! EMMA PLEASE DON'T DO THIS TO ME!" Seth scooped her up in his arms and rocked her bawling screaming and pleading for her to wake up.

"Please Emma, please I never got the chance to tell you. Please, you have to come back! I never got the chance to tell you, this isn't fair!" Seth's face buried in her hair as he cried harder than he ever had before in his entire life, but despite his pleas and cries; Emma didn't wake up. Seth couldn't accept her death, he refused to.

Seth brushed her hair out of her face as tears ran down his, and he leaned down and kissed her forehead. "I'm so sorry Emma, I'm so sorry I couldn't help. I'm so sorry I ran off. I'm so sorry I left you, I promised you I wouldn't leave but I did and I'm so sorry." He sobbed harder, he was shaking now. He felt like he couldn't breathe, like Sirin ripped his own heart out when he took Emma away from him. He thought surely that death would be better than trying to live with the fact that he had never gotten the chance to tell her he loved her.

"Emma, I should have told you how I felt about you when you were here. I was so scared, I was scared that you'd not want to be my friend if I told you how I really felt about you. I have loved you for centuries... I have loved you for thousands....thousands of years. I never got the chance to tell you the first time we met, and I never got a chance to tell you this time, but I'm telling you now." He gently brushed her hair out of her face once more and cupped the side of her face, then he leaned down and softly kissed her lips and whispered, "I love you Emma."

He broke down again, and as he came back up he felt a hand. A soft, warm hand that felt like an electric current coursing through it was on his cheek and when he went to sit back up from the kiss; he heard a voice that said, "I love you too, Seth.
