1 The lies of a broke mind

The story begins, with a guy whose name is also just guy. He wasn't special or anything, not really smart or good at anything. He was just a typical guy. Now guy wasn't very smart, like I said. However, he was relatively fit. After all, he did run daily. This particular story took place while guy was out for his morning run, on bradbury mountain. He was running his usual path, during which he would round the same old twisty path that was constantly beaten down by his feet every morning. He always ran in old sneakers, ones that you could no longer tell the original color of, it had shifted from its original color to a spotted tan color. The shoes had that dried up mud that was now plastered on the sides of his sneakers. He jogged around a particularly sharp bend in the trail, as he zoned out listening to his music, as he always did. He listened to three days grace on this particular day, as he usually switched the band he listened to every four or so days. He started to sing along to the songs he had playing. He finally came around that sharp bend and he checked his phone to see if there were any texts, he then put his phone into his pocket and stopped at the usual pit stop. He snagged his boston marathon water bottle and took a quick swig of the cold ice water he had set up before he left. He took another swig, only this one was a much longer one. Soon after he put his water bottle back into his bag, he felt a little weird. He started to jog along but, he was swerving back and forth across the width of the trail. The trail started to narrow and Guy started seeing blue trees with yellow leaves. Nothing looked normal to guy anymore, he was seeing things that his mind was telling him were impossible. The bushes were orange now, the wind felt like a hurricane, the ground felt like a trampoline that didn't send him back up, and he was going insane. People think they can stay themselves throughout anything, they think they can handle whatever the world throws at them. Guy thought the same way, until today. He wasn't himself anymore, his mind was to busy trying to process what was happening to even control his body as he walked aimlessly down the trail, swerving back and forth. Guy eventually collapsed, unable to stand up straight. His feet fell out from under him and he slammed onto the cold ground, sliding into the beaten down leaves, and stared into the green clouds above. Everything swirled around him, his head was spinning, he was able to make a simple choice and close his eyes. He merely wished it all away, hoping it would disappear into the abyss.

When he awoke, he heard laughing. He didn't want to open his eyes, he kept the shut and he tried to convince himself that he was fine and that the laughing would disappear. Guy took one deep breath and he opened his eyes. When they opened, he saw his friends laughing around him in a circle. The few friends he had made at his job, all gathered around him. However, their bodies didn't quite look right anymore. They looked twisted and broken, like a bent paper clip after being forced back into its original shape. The trees around them looked broken as well, however the colors were now gone. Guy's friends started speaking in words that didn't seem to mean anything, words that could be from another language. Guy realized that his friends weren't safe to be around anymore, he got up and pushed one of them over as he bolted out down the trail. As he ran, their voices drained away into silence. The wind picked up and once again, he felt like he was in a hurricane. He kept running down the trail until he got to a slope, he tried to run up it, but his legs burned and he had to use his hands to climb it like a wall. All of the sudden, the gravity disappeared and it felt like he was falling. In his head, he was climbing more and more. As he neared the top he started hearing strange noises, along with the voices of his friends still speaking nonsense. He looked around him, he was at the top of the mountain. His friends were floating above him and looking down at him. He made out one word, "leaped". He let those words sink in and he mulled it over in his mind. Not sure as to whether or not he should abide by the words he heard. They continued to speak more nonsense for sometime as he continued to stand there. Eventually, he started to hear different sounds like beeping noises. They started to slow down as he walked closer and closer to the cliff's edge. Until he was on the very edge, and everything had finally started to wash away. The beep was extremely slow, and he knew if he jumped, the sounds would disappear and everything would be fine again. He fell forwards and the moment he left the cliff, everything went black for Guy.

-

His friends were mortified when they heard that he had died, the true story that guy didn't even see. Was that his friends had given him a drug that seriously messed with his mental state, and after consuming the drug in his water bottle, he had tripped and face planted into the dirt before his whole body followed over his face, and he tumbled down a steep drop. When his friends came to check on him, it was him that was broken looking at his friends. His eyes being covered with dirt and his brain being rocked like crazy. His friends looking down at his broken body, mortified by what they had done. His split open ears that didn't hear "his skin is peeled off" from his friend, and heard "leaped" instead. The beep of his heart rate slowing down on the heart monitor used by the emt that arrived to help, and the beep along with everything else disappeared as he jumped, and everything fading to silence, as he passed in his own delusional world.
