14 A New Home

Maybe he looked weird, maybe the twins in the front of the car did not notice him but at that moment he didn't care. Ren had fallen asleep and from the moment he had done so Astor could not stop staring at him. His green eyes would always escape to his face, examining his characteristics again and again. The shine of his raven hair, how they fell in front of his eyes from time to time, touching the long eyelashes and making him frown. How he breathed heavily, expressionless most of the time as he dreamt. His tanned skin was perfect, his lips looked soft and Astor found himself wishing he could touch him. Have the silky strands of hair between his fingers, traced his with his fingertips the curve of his lips and the line of his jaw.

Thoughts like these, he had never had them for anyone. Such curiosity, such interest. It was such a new emotion he didn't know how to react to it, following it like a moth to a flame. Probably the only thing that stopped him from touching the scary Alpha were Niss and Nash in front of him and the possibility of him waking up and murdering him on the spot. It was just that Astor had never seen someone so perfect, if he could even describe him like that, the words felt too little to express what he thought of Ren's appearance, no matter how superficial he could sound he was in awe.

"He is handsome, isn't he?" Niss said with a smile.

"I…eeeh…yes." Astor agreed defeated. He wasn't that good at hiding his emotions it seemed. So many unexpected things have happened lately. He needed to catch up so as to not get caught off guard.

"He is very popular you know, girls back home beg him to pay them attention but he always sleeps with them and throws them away."

"That's not very…"

"Nice?" Niss asked. "Yeah he is not the embodiment of nice but I think this time we can let him off."

"Niss." Nash warned her but she paid him no mind as she kept talking to Astor about Ren.

"What do you mean?" Astor asked her, honestly intrigued by the man next to him.

"His relationships have always been very…"

"I think that's enough." Nash said. "We will be arriving at Ren's house soon. You will be living there with us for now Astor. Depending on what kind of job Ren will give you, you might stay with us or have your own place to live."

"With…with you?" Astor asked surprised.

"Don't worry the house is so big you might never see us. Not Ren anyways. He works most of the time and sleeps in the office." Niss said. "Oh, here" she exclaimed, pointing at a mansion a few meters away from them. It was an incredibly lush house with what seemed to be a huge garden surrounding it and three floors. The third floor was completely made out of glass and some parts of the house were visible because of it. A grand piano, a working area. This was probably where Ren stayed, he thought as he examined it carefully.

The car stopped and Niss hoped out first with him following her like a little puppy. They argued about his luggage and who should carry it but Niss didn't want to give him the bag, she said he was injured and shouldn't do too much for now even if he wasn't in pain.

They were also the first to enter the house, Nash and Ren following close behind. Astor had never seen anything like this. From the shiny marbles on the floor, back with white water lines as their design to the expensive chandelier above their head. On his left existed a spacious living room with leather couches and a flat-screen TV that almost fitted the whole wall. On his left, there was the kitchen while in front of him started a huge staircase.

"Come with me." Niss told him and they got up. They found themselves in another living room, this one a bit more messy, with books here and there and a forgotten mug on the coffee table. "This our floor. There is the living room and we also have a training room back there with Nash, you can use it of course. Your room is over there with your bathroom. The floor above us is mostly empty rooms, no one uses it while the top floor the one made of glass is where Ren stays. Usually is only us here but every Monday and Thursday a cleaning lady comes in. If you happen to see anyone else you call me okay?"

"Anyone else?" Astor asked her.

"We tend to have some unwanted guests from time to time. But don't worry." she said.

He was worried. What exactly did she mean with unwanted guests?

"I see." he agreed, trying not to show how anxious he felt with her words.

"Come on. You can settle and get some sleep, we can have dinner later and fill you in a bit more about the pack. Actually, I have organized a little you know gathering to welcome you this weekend so.."

"A little what?" Astor asked, his eyes widening at the thought of any kind of social gathering. He obviously did not want to go. He did not like seeing or meeting new people and he doubted that everyone there would be like Niss or even Nash.

"Do not worry." She said as she opened the door to his new room.

It was beautiful, far more dreamy than anything he had ever seen before. He had a huge bed, filled with fluffy pillows and puffy covers. There was a hairy rug underneath his feet and a desk made of heavy and well-polished wood. He even had his own TV and a library with enough space to put whatever he wanted.

"I am a bit worried." Astor told Niss as she placed his duffle bag in a corner of the room.

" It's going to be fun. Ren will be there too. Think of it as a welcome party at your new job. No one will harm you. I promise." he told him, smiling kindly at him. Astor took a deep breath. He didn't want to wine any longer and annoy her. Nodding his head he realized that this was something he would have to go through and the best thing he could do was learn as much as he could about this pack as soon as possible so he wouldn't embarrass himself. "Perfect. Rest now little wolf and I will call you for dinner. Okay?"

"Okay." Astor agreed, finally feeling the exhaustion catch up with him.

He did need to get some sleep.
