6 They Bite

After checking his skills he found he couldn't use any weapons or armor which seemed a bit odd for a combat class at first, he then noticed it was grayed out and had the tooltip 'training required', so that was why, he needed to visit a trainer, unfortunately they were all in the main cities where he couldn't get to, the only thing this town had was a small auction house.

Heading into his small house Ulric opened the draw and took out the beginner potions he had never used and put them in his inventory, it looked like he would have to use simple punches and kicks to fight, but he didn't mind, it was something new after all.

Before he headed out he asked around about the kind of monsters he would encounter and learned a bit of basic information, most of the monsters were non hostile until attacked which was standard for beginner areas, and so he stepped out of the village for the first time.

He glanced around, he was stood in a flat plain grassland, in the distance to the west was a forest, but for now the grassland was his first hunting ground, he quickly spotted the few 'monsters' near him, they just looked like rabbits as he focused on one a screen appeared:

Ok same level as him, the name was in yellow text, he guessed that meant it was not hostile as he had been told but also not an ally like the people in town who's names were green, he walked up to it and looked closer, yup definitely a rabbit same ears and tail and everything, he looked around just to make sure but this was the only thing near him which could be attacked so it must be a monster.

"well little guy guess i have to attack you" and he threw a punch.

As soon as the punch landed several things happened, it's name went red, a -1 appeared for a moment, a red bar appeared above the rabite and 1/5 of the bar drained, and the rabite's eyes turned red it's mouth opened a lot wider than you would have thought revealing many sharp teeth.

The angry little thing leaped at Ulric and sank it's teeth into his arm, "argh!" he shook it off and kicked it 2/5 it leaped at him again and again, *fast little bugger* he thought, after several more bites Ulric realized this little as*hole was too fast for him to pin down, but there was a moment when it slowed down, so when it bit him again he grabbed not only his chance but the rabite as well 'grappled' appeared in the monsters info, holding onto the squirming little furball he punched it 3 more times and it dropped to 0hp and become limp.

He put the little PTSD on the floor and drank 2 of his 10 beginner potions, after catching his breath he looked down at the rabite and a prompt appeared,

'to locate new ingredients please butcher defeated enemies'

"ok then, something i know how to do" he smiled as he began to cut open the rabite with a knife and cleaver, after a few minutes he was able to locate a small portion of meat at the side of the rabite, just like he did with the meat that gave him this class,

'acquired 1 rabite flank'

'butchery gathering skill unlocked'

'new recipe acquired "grilled rabite flank"

His eyes lit up, as he checked the recipe, it seemed quite simple, he pulled out his portable stove from his camping kit and set about grilling the flank, it only took a few minutes before it was done,

He was surprised to see that the flank was a rare level item from the fact it's name was blue, and so checked it's effect:

'fit to burst' 24 hour debuff upon consumption

after eating the flank his agility rose by 1, cool, but for some reason the de-buff didn't appear, oh well never mind, time for some more hunting.
