Chapter 109

"Cough Cough." Lucas coughed. The smell of oil and gas exhaust in the air made him feel uncomfortable.

He knew that this was a normal reaction. Usually, when people lived in a place with good air quality for a long time and suddenly moved to a city where the air quality is bad, they would feel a bit of discomfort. This was just their body trying to adapt to the environment.

"Seems like I have to hurry back after I finish shopping." Lucas mumbled. Lucas called a taxi, told the driver where he wanted to go, got in, and closed his eyes to rest.

15 minutes later, Lucas appeared in front of the largest supermarket in the city. After paying the taxi driver, Lucas took his backpack and headed inside the supermarket with a shopping cart.

Maybe because of the nobility aura that he had obtained recently, Lucas was extremely eye-catching. The hat and the mask he wore made many of the girls think that he was a celebrity. It was because of the traveling between the worlds that made changes in his body. He looked quite handsome now.

"…" Lucas pulled on the brim of his hat. The girls' gazes were extremely passionate, making him feel uncomfortable. These wild girls don't look as good as the ones he had in other world. Lucas concentrated his mind on shopping, and he scanned the shelves for items. "What should I buy? I've already made a plan before I came here, and yet, I forgot it when I just started shopping…"

"Two boxes of Nescafe instant coffee."

"Eh? They got new glasses again? Looks pretty good. It's time for the glasses in the castle to be changed, so I'll have some."

Lucas said that he didn't know what he wanted to buy, but just by walking around, Lucas's shopping cart slowly became full. He was, after all, grabbing a bit of everything.

"Eh…"

He looked at the full shopping cart. He had yet to buy the thing that he had come for.

"Sir, let me help you push it." A female employee said enthusiastically, taking the shopping cart from Lucas.

"Then, thanks." Lucas said. "Can you help me push it to the checkout?"

"Huh? Okay." The female employee froze for a bit before hurriedly agreeing. She was a bit down as she left as she had thought that she could have followed Lucas.

Lucas shrugged, found another shopping cart, and started to shop again.

"This notebook looks pretty good and is quite thick. I can keep this as a diary."

"Badminton racket? I think I'll buy this, too. It's good even if I just keep it somewhere."

"Right, what should I choose for a birthday gift?" Lucas looked around, and his eyes quickly lit up when he saw a place with a lot of girls around.

"She will definitely like that gift." Lucas pushed the shopping cart to a place that had plushies and pajamas.

A boy had suddenly appeared in a group of girls, so he immediately attracted all the attention from the nearby girls.

"Wow! He's a handsome guy."

"Did he come here to strike up a conversation? Or is his girlfriend here?"

"What a strong temperament."

Lucas looked at the plushies and saw a cat plushie that was as tall as a person.

"Excuse me, I need to get something." Lucas said to the girl who was standing between the plushie.

"Ah? Oh, okay."

Lucas nodded, walked forward, and grabbed the cat plushie by its ears. He put it on his shoulder and walked away, leaving the group of girls with envious eyes.

"So handsome. He's like my dream boy."

"Why does the one at my house only know how to play games? And even despise me for being fat."

"…"

Lucas was completely unaware of what had happened. He went on to buy a few more things and pushed the full shopping cart to the checkout.

"Huh? Mr. Lucas, you're buying this many things again?"

The cashier recognized Lucas. Or rather, Lucas had come so many times and bought so many things that it was impossible for her to not recognize him.

"Yeah." Lucas said, nodding lightly, taking out the things from the shopping cart and putting them onto the checkout conveyor belt. He decided that he would go to a different supermarket next time to avoid being recognised.

"Mr. Lucas, when are you going to release the novel that you've been writing? I will support it." The cashier said, smiling.

"Soon. I'll tell you when I get a chance." Lucas said to the cashier. Many people knew about him here as his novels and fanfic had become quite famous on platforms like web novels and scribble hub. It was also because of this that people never suspected him if he stayed home all the time.

Many neighbors, after seeing him, would always tell him to not stay at home all day and go out for a walk so he could get inspiration. No one had suspected that he had been doing anything else, let alone traveling to a different world.

Lucas soon finished checking out. There were many large bags and a large cat plushie. A few female employees enthusiastically helped him carry his items.

As soon as he reached the door of the supermarket, two beautiful female employees stopped him. "Hello, sir, we have an event where you can participate in the lottery if you purchased more than $1,000 worth of items. The first prize is jewelry worth $9,999. The second prize is an air conditioner worth $5,888…"

Lucas knew that this was a promotional event. Most of the prizes would be coupons where people could get discounts if the things that they buy came up to a certain amount.

Lucas turned to look at the flier and saw a beautifully carved jewelry of a mountain landscape. He thought about how he was a noble and didn't have any jewelry for any of the girls he had in the castle, which wasn't very fitting of one. As for gemstone rings, well, Lucas wasn't really used to them.

"Oh? Then I'll draw one." Lucas said, nodding his head. He had set his sight on the jewelry.

"Okay. Sir, please come with us." The female employee said with a smile.

It only took a few steps for them to go to the counter. Quite a few people were drawing prizes, which made it quite lively.

"Sir, please draw one from here." Another female employer said, bringing over a raffle box.

"Okay."

Lucas's eyes flashed and he quickly put his hand inside. He grabbed a paper.

"This one, then."

Lucas took the paper out and handed it to the employee.

"Okay, sir." The employee said, taking the slip of paper and then scratching it.

"Fir- first prize?" The employees were dumbfounded. They thought they had misread it and took another look.

"U-uh, sir, your luck is very good." The female employee said. Indeed, to be able to draw the first prize from ten of thousands of slips of paper, Lucas was very lucky.

"Yeah, I got pretty lucky." Lucas said, smiling. He took the jewelry and walked away from the lottery counter.

At the entrance of the supermarket, Lucas thanked the employees, took his things, and walked away. He looked for a hidden alleyway with no cameras and then proceeded to stuff everything into his storage space.

"Oh? It's 11 o'clock already?" Lucas took out his phone, looked at it, and yawned. Other people's night life was just starting, but he was getting sleepy.

"Then I guess it's time to go back."

Lucas walked slowly with his hands in his pockets as he looked around. He looked at the people laughing and smiling, and he wondered just how many people were laughing sincerely and how many were just laughing to be polite.

High property prices, the pressures of life, the impetuous society, and the complex and unpredictable human heart.

Lucas wondered how long it would take for the other world to become like Earth. Maybe the human heart couldn't be satisfied, and people would always want to keep getting more. Maybe the more people knew, the more complicated their thoughts were.

Suddenly, Lucas felt the back of his head tingle. It was faint, but it was still there, meaning that whatever it was, it was still harmful to him.

East? West? South? North? Lucas quickly thought about the different directions that he could dodge in. However, the tingling sensation was there no matter which of the four directions he chose.

Then, northeast? Southwest? Southeast? When he thought of the Southeast direction, the tingling sensation disappeared. Lucas moved in that direction, and just a second later, a spider fell down from the tree above him.

That may seem like a long time, but actually, Lucas had only taken one second to react. Rather, he could have reacted in an even shorter time- he just wasn't skilled enough.

"I still need one second?"

Lucas looked at the spider. His subconscious thought that the spider falling onto his skin would cause allergic reactions or might bite him, which was why he got the warning.

He had awakened this ability after he had started traveling between worlds. This ability was what had allowed him to save Nicole and live well in the other world for a month.

Afterward, he became the city lord and had Mina and Ben's family as his guard, so he hadn't faced danger ever since.

"It seems that I'll have to train this ability when I go back. It'll be shameful if this ability can't be used during danger." Lucas said, sighing. He had been busy living too comfortably recently, and the spider had given him a reminder.

In the beginning, Lucas had thought that the ability was something like spiderman's spider-sense. But after trying it out, he realized that It was something different. It would give him a warning about two seconds before an incoming source of danger. He would then be able to use that information to decide his next move as soon as he reacted. It was like a foresight ability.

It didn't have any offensive power, but Lucas felt that it was a very strong ability that was very suited for him.

As long as he didn't encounter machine guns or nuclear bombs, he could easily dodge any attack and make a counterattack.

If Lucas could shorten his reaction time to 0.1 seconds, it was completely possible for him to defeat 100 enemies at once on the battlefield. This ability was extremely versatile.

Lucas stepped on the road sparing the spider, and walked away. He spared the spider because it gave him a reminder. He was going to go back to sleep so he could find someone to practice with the following day.

Lucas got back to his apartment, he shut the door close, locked it, and put a piece of paper on the door gap. He would easily be able to tell if anyone had tried to sneak into his house. He entered his room and started printing again.

His bedroom had become a mess again after an hour of printing. Lucas once again gathered the paper and stuffed them into his storage space.

Originally, he wasn't going to print the information on paper and was just going to use electronics to store them, but he thought of how it was possible for electronic devices to malfunction, and that would be a disaster, so he had decided to print information out as a backup.

Besides, he couldn't really just take his phone out and copy the things on there in front of others, could he? The paper made it so that it wouldn't feel too weird.

Lucas put all the things in their places in his room and after cleaning his room, Lucas turned off all the electronic devices except lights. He entered his bedroom again and locked his door. After checking all the things he disappeared from his place.

Lucas reappeared in the secret room. Lucas decided that the next time he moved to a new house on Earth, he would get a secret room like this one. Of course, this would have to wait until he confirmed that there were actually 100 years old ginsengs and then sold the ginsengs.

"Phew… I'm back again. My body feels like it's full of strength." Lucas felt as if the invisible shackles that had been binding his body had been released. He knew that it was most likely just a psychological effect.

Lucas took out the paper from his storage space and locked them in an iron cabinet. He then put the books that he had bought from the supermarket onto the bookshelf, walked out of the room, closed the door, locked it, and closed the cabinet door. There wasn't anyone in the room, and his ability wasn't warning him of any dangers, so Lucas took out all the things from his storage space and put them on the table.

The following day, Nicole would secretly transport the items to the inner vault. She would never ask where they came from as if she had never even seen them.

Lucas had asked the girls about whether or not they were curious where the things came from. They just laughed, saying, "Young Master, everyone has their own secrets. You've been sent by heaven to save us, so no matter how amazing you are, it's only natural."

Lucas didn't know how to respond to that statement. They were looking at him like he was a god.

Was this the belief of this world? Attribute all unknowns to God? Well, it doesn't really matter to him.
