8 Chapter 7- The Batman

{Batman POV}

It has been a tiring career of trying to bring crime down in Gotham city. The world is changing a lot and people with special abilities now living among us. There is a super alien in Metropolis. A speedster in Central city. A demigod in Washington, D.C. A pilot with a superpowered ring in Coast city. A shapeshifter with what seems to be telekinesis in Chicago. And an underwater sea kingdom.

The world has become a mess and I had to slowly find their weaknesses before contacting them.

The past year has been thankfully quite uneventful and there seemed to be no hidden agenda behind this silence of the criminals. But rather seemed to be due to my efforts finally bearing fruit.

One of the major criminal activities have been the 6 robberies that seem to be done by the same person. These heists fit Catwomans MO but this time she is not doing things alone. She seems to have found a partner, a good one it seems as the person seems to be able to even evade my computer systems.

Though I know Catwoman is Selina Kyle I will not go to her without evidence or if she is in her Catwoman persona. This is our unspoken agreement even though both of us know the others secret identity we try not to interfere with our non-caped persona.

So I was very surprised when she came to me openly with, from what I know to be, her adopted brother and asked or rather begged me for help. So even she can put down her pride for those she cares about.

I take her to the batcave while making sure she doesn't see the entrance method and lay the boy down on the bed in the Benicar bay section of the cave.

I observed the 6 year old boy who seemed to writhe in pain but seemed to unconsciously try to keep himself still. It seems he realized he was being carried somewhere by Selina.

The boy's will was amazing as he shifted in and out of consciousness but kept himself from screaming in pain or maybe he just couldn't as the pain was too much.

The computer detected that the boy had an unknown energy surge inside his body and from what I could tell his body was clashing with..... itself. But I could also tell that his body was stabilizing and informed Selina that it would soon be over. The pain stopped for the boy as he finally went to sleep and his pale face regained color. The blue line markings also disappeared from his body.

I took a sample of the child's saliva, blood and tissue to study and waited for the child to wake up.

Still looking at the computer while running tests I asked Selina,"Was it you?"

She just smiled proudly at me knowing I was asking about the robberies.

I sighed and asked,"I just want to know who is helping you?"

"Are you jealous?"

"No, I just want to know who is the new guy that was able to get rid of my tracking."

She again proudly smiled before she looked at her brother.

I look at her brother before looking at Selina again and I am impressed enough that I momentarily lost control of my facial features as my mouth twitched. She smiled again and almost laughed at my reaction.

But it is truly impressive as a child of 5 years was able to evade my computer tracking almost as if he knew he would lose in a direct confrontation. Selina must have informed him about me.

As we waited the skies outside the cave darkened and I changed into my Batsuit.

It was another day for the criminals of Gotham to cower in fear of the Batman.
