9 Why do the rich do what they do

Okay I'd like to make one thing clear first, with all honesty, I can't stand rich people.

Like, seriously, it's been a thing for me since forever, even during my junior high in my former world.

I mean, we got these folks with millions in the bank, and yet they somehow manage to have the crappiest lives.

It's mind-boggling, really.

But you know what really gets under my skin? Those extroverted rich people.

How the hell do you become a millionaire and still end up causing drama every damn week on social media? It's beyond me, dude.

I swear, if I had a million bucks, I'd be living it up, enjoying life in peace, of course I'm talking about my carefree identity.

No doubt about it.

Oh well, moving on.

Other than me, If an introvert had one million dollars, he/she would live their lives to the fullest, in peace, and that's a fact even I can't debate about.

So, in other words… I'm jealous of rich people.

I was only able to hold on this long with my family because I don't exactly consider us rich.

The Vermont family are just middle class people, we have enough to sustain ourselves and add that with the title of Royal knight my father carries around to make himself feel big.

But …

Looking at this mansion, rather, this whole estate, I can definitely conclude, I now hate whoever Richardson is.

How does one have such a house and probably extremely rich and yet still hell bent on destroying my dreams of being a legendary cult leader with an engagement?.

Sigh!

"Aether, are you alright?" Asked my father before he stole a quick glance at me.

"I'm fine, just a bit tired."

"Remember to always hold out a behavior that speaks well of our family name,"

"Yes father."

"Let us go."

My father locked arms with my mother before he grabbed my hand and we began walking up the stairs, heading towards the entrance of the mansion.

Jeanne was still inside the carriage, for some reason my father refused for her to come in with me.

Anyways, we arrived inside the mansion and I was immediately greeted with the mummers of guests walking about the ballroom.

Now, this wasn't what I had imagined, I thought it was just going to be a meeting between the two families before they conclude our engagement.

I had no idea it was a freaking party with a lot of nobles, dining, drinking and dancing, I guess that explains why my father decided to let Jeanne stay behind.

"Sir Elyon, good to see you, it seems you're doing well with your family."

From the mist of the soon to be hated nobles came this one man, honestly, the only way I could think to describe him was 'bald'.

He had little to no hair on his head and I could have sworn the reflection from the light was causing scientific projects on his head.

Why leave little hair at the back of your head, give up and shave the rest, you did good during your lifetime, just let it go.

"Lord Terence, good to see you too," My father replied with a smile, shaking his hand as their annoying chuckles filled the air.

"Oh? Is this your son?"

The man turned his attention towards me, I tried my best, I really did, but the closest I could do was force a smile, any more than that and I'd have burst into laughter from the way my reflection was sparkling on his head.

"N..nice to meet you sir." I replied as best as I could.

"Awwwn, so this is the champ that gets to inherit the family name, I hope he's strong enough to rival the other nobles when he enters the academy." The man spoke, rubbing his hand on my head.

"Indeed, my son has been studying and there's no doubt in my mind that he is going to surpass his peers easily." Replied my father with a smug look on his face.

Awwwn! If only he knew I plan to do average in just about everything so I don't stand out too much.

"Aether, go play somewhere else, I need to speak with Lord Terence, but don't wander off too far."

"Okay, father…. Excuse me." I bowed my head before I walked away.

And so, I began my journey around the event. It was so boring, adults talking about business and money laundering, I was basically the only 11 years old there.

The food I ate to relinquish my boredom was so much, the women distributing it began to question if I was human or not.

And I don't blame her, my body doesn't work the same way thiers do, if there's food, I'm going to eat.

And what goes in, must come out, hence, a new journey to find the restroom awaits me.

On my way to the restroom, was when I ran into her, the princess of the mansion, or so I assumed.

She was exceptionally beautiful, her long black hair fell behind her back, her black eyes weee… well, you know the drill.

I was so much as surprised as I was just taken aback by her sudden presence.

That said, her beauty does seem to rival Jeanne's and she's the prettiest female I know.

My plan was to walk past her and continue my journey, but it seems the girl had other plans.

"Wait!" She suddenly spoke, and I was forced to halt my movement and turned around to meet her gaze.

"Yes, is there a problem?".

"Are you perhaps here to get me?"

"No"

"Really?"

"Really"

"... Then why are you here?"

"To use the restroom"

"Really?"

"Really".

"Okay then, sorry for stopping you."

"It's cool." I replied and walked away, although I had no idea what that was about, it was clear she was worried about something and whatever it was… I have the feeling I'm going to enjoy it.

Oh right, restroom.
