Emma Kelvin

"Because of you, I laugh a little harder, I cry a little less and smile a lot more."

"YOU! GET HERE!"

The girl scurried over to the guy who called her.

"Did you do my homework?!" He stage-whispered.

She shook her head.

"Why, may I ask?" His voice louder with each second.

"I-I had o-other homework." She stuttered.

"Your homework? Then what about mine!?" He growled, grabbing her the collar and pinning her against the lockers.

Okay, if you have no idea, how we got here, let me rewind...

||A few minutes earlier||

After I walked out of the garden, I made my way back to the campus for one last class of the day - Computer Science. The halls were empty - that's weird. No student in the hallways. As I was still a little early for my class, I sauntered over to my locker to take my necessary stuff. (Book, pen, pencil, eraser)

That was when I saw the group of students crowding at one of the lockers, taking pictures, girls giggling, video-shooting. Shooting a few excuse me's , I made my way into the center of the crowd. Although, it was not that easy....I had to push my way into the 'eye' of the crowd.

Like the 'eye' of the cyclone

Get it?! Get it?! *excitedly jumps on the spot like a four-year old*

Man, I suck! *sighs*

||Present time||

"Hey, let go off her!" I yelled.

The guy snickered. He had a tall built but as he had the same height as mine, it wasn't quite threatening. He could not tower above me if he could.

He glared. "Who the hell are you?!"

I smirked. "Your worst nightmare."

I had no idea what came into me but there was a girl who needed my help because she was bullied and I couldn't turn my back on her.

Even if some people chose to do that.

The guy let the girl go and she fell on her butt with a loud thump - Ooh, that must've hurt! - and grabbed my collars and slammed me against the lockers. That was how it started, he punched me . I punched him. He kicked me. I kicked him. We both fell on the floor and now the crowd surrounded us. I didn't know if I was the one who was only getting beaten to a pulp or I could at least beat that guy.

Man, he was strong.

And when I say 'strong' , I mean WWE level strong.

I tried to fight. Hey! The last time I had a fight was back in Berry High!

Okay, now that I think about it, it wasn't that long.

Soon enough, Principal Clara and Coach Louise showed up and broke us apart.

"Kids, go back to your classes and you-" He pointed to me and the guy. "-Principal's Office. NOW!"

Okay, something was seriously going on with Clara and Louise.

How on earth did they showed up at the same time?!

The crowd scurried away and now it was only Principal Clara, Coach Louise, the guy, the girl and I. I didn't know why the girl stood there and watched the fight.

Jake, think about your bloody bruises not their secret love-affair! And also the girl -my brain scolded me

Yeah, yeah. I know.

Not only do I have to think about my bruises but also, the fact that

I managed to land myself in trouble on my first day of school

BINGO!

"Richard, really?" The guy, whose name I now learned was Richard, just shrugged.

Shrugged, really?

Clara sighed as she rummaged her drawers to look for something, "Louise, why isn't my drawer clean? You know how much I hate dirty drawers, honey!"

KNEW IT!

Richard and I shared a look. Alright, even he was surprised. How on earth did they blow their covers just like that?

Louise hesitated for a second. "Uh...Principal Clara?" He emphasized on the word, Principal.

"What?!" She said, exasperated and still not looking at us. We didn't bother saying anything. I only held my fist to my mouth to prevent from laughing. Now one out of two things were possible:

1. They were married

Or...

2. They were dating, secretly

You know, secret romances and all!

My vote was definitely for the latter.

Finally she looked at us when she found the register. And then, she looked at Louise with bewilderment. Soon, it clicked. There was a hint of recognition in her eyes and she realzied what had happened.

Teaming up with Richard was the last thing I wanted,

But if we wanted to get out

We can do this.

Plan, 'Blackmail-teacher-principal-because-you-found-out-their-dirty-little-secret' was on!

"Write your statements and then we'll take further action." Principal Clara ordered as she tried to ignore what had happened in the last few seconds.

"What if we don't?!" Richard sneered as he crossed his legs on the table, leaning against the comfy chair. I was standing , with crossed arms.

"What do you mean?" Coach Louise demanded.

"Tell 'em, new guy." Richard smirked.

I returned his smirk.

But I had something else in mind.

I'll tell you that in a few minutes.

"You-" I pointed to the two of them. "- let us go without a black mark on our records and we-" I pointed to the two of us. "-keep your love lives a secret."

They both took a moment to consider. They both shared a look and then sighed.

"It's a deal." Clara sighed. "But please keep it a secret, we don't want the school to know."

"Huh? Why don't you want people to know?" Richard asked.

"It's because-please keep your feet down, it's disrespectful."

"You don't get to tell me what I do and what I don't , Clara. I know your secret." Richard sneered.

Alright, this guy was pushing his luck.

But what could they do, now?

Clara felt offended and so did Louise but they didn't say him anything. Given that, we could expose them any second we wanted.

Why did it feel so long ago that I wanted to be on the teacher's good side?

And why the hell was I now part of a blackmailing?

Whatever the reason was - I don't care - it was awesome!

"Just don't tell anyone." She paused before she shut the register and put it back in one of the drawers. "You may leave."

Coach Louise had not uttered a single word during this whole time. While Richard strode confidently out of the office, I lazily made my way out. They both did not make any eye contact neither with me nor with each other. Something stirred inside me and I knew I had to make it right.

Richard was a bully and this school was really against bullying. So, I could sell him out to the Principal or...

The 'OR ' Thing is a reference from my favorite series HIMYM!

Oh god, what a series!

So, or...continued....

I blackmail Richard.

And I know exactly how.

"Hey, newbie!" Richard called out to me when I made my way towards the computer class.

"Hey bully!" I called back. Come on, he was a bully.

He ignored my call.

"Thanks for backing me up, back there."

"Not accepted."

"Why not?" He gave me a puzzled look.

"Well, because you're a bully and you bully a girl for homework." I shrugged.

"Dude, who cares! That girl's a nobody!"

I looked him straight in his eyes. "Let's make a deal."

"Deal? What deal?" He smirked.

"That you let that girl go and I'll....forget that you beat me up." I stage-whispered, menacingly.

He laughed. "Why would I do that?"

"Why not?"

We snapped our heads to see Jeff , Cady and 'that girl' walking towards us with devilish smirks plastered on their faces. Honestly, Candy's one was the most threatening! Now when I did a voice scan recognition in my head- I don't know what that is- I realized it was Jeff's voice we heard.

"The Harringtons and the bullied, what a pleasant surprise!" He sneered. "By the way I have the Principal in my pockets so you can't harm me!"

Jeff smirked. "I know. But this can."

He showed a video of our fight and the bullying that he did. He was not the least bit of fazed with the video.

"If you show that video, I'll defame the Principal and the coach." Richard blackmailed.

"And what do you get from that?A black mark on your record, if I might recall." Candy smirked.

Alright, this was getting interesting.

"You promised, new guy! You told them to let us go!" Richard growled.

"And I can always turn you in with this video and also if you-" I jabbed my finger on his chest. "-don't stop your bullying nonsense and if you will expose them, I can always tell it was a lie."

"Given that you have a record of lying, nah, it shouldn't be hard." Jeff shrugged.

"So, whaddya say, is it a deal?" Cady smirked.

"Can you repeat the terms , again?" Richard sheepishly asked.

I let out a sigh. "Fine. You stop bullying and we don't show this video and get you expelled, okay?"

After a few seconds of consideration, he spoke. "Okay."

"I understood that reference!" Jeff exclaimed , a big goofy smile on his face.

"So you're siblings, huh? No wonder the last name." I laughed as we four got out of the school.

"Well, you never know, we could've been paternal siblings too." Jeff laughed it out.

"T-Thanks f-for the s-save, guys." The girl quietly spoke up.

"No problem." Cady smiled as she slung her hand across the girl's shoulder.

"So what's your name?" I asked the girl.

"E-Emma Amy K-Kelvin." She kept her head low, not making eye contact with the others.

"Wait." Jeff stopped us, throwing his arms in front of us to block our way.

"You're the daughter of the guy who named the unit of temperature?"

I tagged this book, come and support me with a thumbs up!
