Ch 7 - Sister?

'It's been 5 fucking days... 5!' I cussed angrily. 'I haven't been able to practice my magic once.'

'The nurse that is riding with me who's name I found out to be Mia won't put me down for a second.'

'We have continued to follow all the other carriages all day and only stop to sleep at night. Even then Mia sleeps right next to me and if I were to cast magic she would instantly be able to notice it,' I said angered.

'Just two days ago we got out of the city and have been traveling through the forest. Thankfully, we are a huge caravan and Christopher hired some guards so that we don't have to worry about bandits.'

'I have no idea where he could be taking us but it's apparent that it's not in the previous city. I hope that we are going to a richer place with more advanced technology so that I can quickly improve my magic affinities,' I say with greed in my eyes.

Meanwhile Christopher was sitting in the most luxurious carriage along with his daughter Kylee.

"How much longer daddy?" Kylee said for the hundredth time.

"Just three more days my little angel. We are already more than halfway there!" Christopher replied trying to calm down his daughter down. It had been quite the emotional time for the both of them.

After a short pause Kylee asks with tears starting to once again form in her eyes, "Hey daddy. Is mommy really gone forever?"

Sigh. "Yes sweetie she left to go to a much nicer place where they is no bad people," Christopher said yet not showing the overwhelming amount of hate he harbors towards Layla. He is annoyed that even in death she is still causing him and his daughter pain.

"Why couldn't I have gone with her? I want to go to that place too!" Kylee says with conviction.

"Well you see, only mommy and the baby was allowed to go. They had to go together and I am sure that one day she will be waiting for you. But you have to wait till you get a lot older," Christopher said with emphasis on a lot.

"How old?" Kylee asked curiously.

"Older than me," Christopher replied.

"Ah, but that's so long from now! That's like 100 years!" Kylee said depressed. "I miss mommy now."

"I bet you do, but at least you still have me!" Christopher said ignoring her first comment before tickling her.

"Haha stop... noooo... hahahaha... stop it please... haha..."

Unknown to all the night of the fifth day something completely unexpected would happened.

Christopher tells a guard, "Pass the message that we will stop here to camp for the night. Then say that will we once again begin traveling at the break of dawn. Also make sure that you form a team to keep watch. We are in the deepest parts of the forest tonight. Although there shouldn't be any problems since this is a green zone I don't want to take any chances especially because I have my daughter with me."

The guard nods and heads out to preform his tasks at hand.

'Oh, we are stopping again which means that we are making camp for the night. Damn I hope tomorrow is our last day of traveling. Otherwise I might just go insane.'

Once the camp was set up and fires were being made to cook the food for the night Mia picked me up and we left the carriage. She once again went over to sit next to her other nurse friends while I was content with my bottle.

'I can't wait to grow up. I'm stuck is this week baby body and can't do anything to protect myself let alone walk or even crawl,' I thought to myself ignoring my surroundings as Mia kept talking.

Then out of nowhere I hear the most ear shattering screech.

'What the fuck was that?' I ask myself.

"Is that your baby? Can I see him? Can I? Can I? Can I?" Kylee asks jumping up and down in front of Mia.

Mia turns to stone unsure what to do and has an inner monologue with herself.

'Wasn't the lord supposed to keep Kylee around him at all times in order to avoid this very situation? Kylee knew that her mother was pregnant but the lord told her that the baby left with Layla so she didn't question anything. He made sure to move Kylee to the guest house the moment he got back. That was in order to avoid her hearing anything in case Noah was to cry and take up a lot of attention. He did all that planning to make sure that she never found out about her little brother. Yet all that planning was coming crumbling down the drain because she is standing in front of me now asking to see him. I can't very well tell her no, and it's not likely for her to learn that he is her brother. So my only hope is to pray that she leaves after getting a glimpse of him. Oh, how did I get in this mess? Where is the lord?'

"Yes, but you have to be gentle he is still very little," Mia said.

"Okay I promise," Kylee said smiling.

'Oh fuck what is this little snobby brat doing in front of me? Why would someone bring a kid on this trip?' I think to myself.

'Wait a brat... girl... little... obnoxious... don't tell me that this is... my sister. Oh hell no, don't touch me with your nasty little hands!'

'Grrrr, well I should at least try to keep the pease between us while I'm still young. I bet Kylee is sad that her mother died and wanted to come met me. Also with Layla's death being on my shoulders I guess I'll allow it. Ahh! Fuck you! Crazy little devil don't poke me in the cheek that shit hurts. You are lucky I couldn't keep developing my magic or else would have splashed your face with water right now,' I said starting to regret what I thought before.

Mia seeing my discomfort says, "He is very tired now why don't we go lay him down in the carriage to get some sleep."

"Okay! I understand the little baby is tired so we need to tuck him in for bedtime," Kylee says cheerfully.

"That's right," Mia says as she and Kylee walked over to the carriage and laid me down.

"Okay now he need to be left alone to sleep. Why don't we go back to camp I bet your dad is worried about you," Mia says rushing Kylee to quickly leave.

"WAIT!" Kylee wails out. "You never told me his name."

"His name is Noah now let's hurry back," Mia says ushering Kylee towards the camp.

"Okay. Bye-bye Noah," she says with a wave before turning around to walk back with Mia.

'What in the fuck was that? I don't think I even want to know! But, all that matter is that I get my first period of time to be alone since we started the trip. Luckily, this means that I can keep practicing my water magic! I should make the most of it due to not knowing when Mia will return,' I say as I begin to further refine my water droplet.

While Noah was practicing Christopher finally made his way over to Kylee.

"Why did you leave the group that was tasked to protect you? What did you plan to accomplish after running away from them? Don't you know how dangerous it is! It's the whole reason you have guards in the first place!" Christopher exclaimed.

"I'm sorry daddy," Kylee replied as she started to cry. "I- I- just wanted to see what baby Noah looked like sin- since mommy took the other baby with her," before tears started to fall endlessly down her face.

"Oh my sweetheart. Next time let daddy know he was sooooo worried about you," Christopher said as he wrapped Kylee in a hug.

"Does she know?" Christopher mouthed to Mia.

Mia quickly replied by shaking her head no.

"Why don't we go back to the front and get some food I bet you are hungry," Christopher said giving Kylee a piggyback ride.

"Okay," Kylee replied digging her face into Christopher's back.

When they got back to their carriage Christopher told all the guards to surround him and Kylee for the night to make sure that she doesn't go missing again.

As time passes much later into the night long after the sun had set, Noah was still practicing his abilities to comprehend water magic.

'Hmm, it's pitch black outside yet Mia hasn't returned. Maybe something happened to her! If it did then I would have even more time alone and wouldn't be under surveillance 24/7! She played her role as the caring nurse to save me from the psychopath but since then she's lost her value and has even become a hindrance,' I calculate.

*step* *step* *step*

'Speak of the devil I bet that's her now.'

Mia comes walking up to me covered in bruises and with a swollen eye.

'Damn what the hell happened to her? Wait, this might actually be a good thing she might be so tired and in so much pain that she might lose track of me and I'll be able to keep practicing,' I say with a sadistic smile.

Yet just as she is about to reach me... blood.

*crack*

A huge wolf-like beast comes out of nowhere and jumps at Mia. It instantly latches on to her and breaks her neck as blood sprays everywhere.
