21 Chapter 21: Magus

"Are you really sure this will work?" Pansy asked as she stood worried in front of the control console.

"Yes, Pansy, how often should we go over this? Our symbiotes and setesh are siblings from the very same batch. Our genetic makeup is extremely similar. I already mapped out both our genomes and compared them with his. The modifications will be working perfectly," Harry explained with a sigh; he had been working on this for the last three weeks. Hogwarts had already started, and neither he nor Pansy decided to go back there.

There is absolutely no reason for them to go back there; the only point of interest in the Wizarding World for them is the potential of the people. He already had a few recruits in mind with the right potential to become leaders in his new empire; on the top of that list was Hermione. She had just the right attitude and values that he was looking for, always trying to learn, research, and improve herself. Of course, he kept in contact with her, even now that she was back in Hogwarts. He especially bought an owl to be able to write to her. He just had to find a way to recruit her without antagonizing her. Which could be a bit difficult with the requirement he had planned to allow someone to join his empire.

On the other hand, he had zero interest in recruiting his other former best friend. The memories of Osiris gave him a wider perspective on people and their true intentions. A perspective an 11-year-old, friendless, and abused boy didn't have

Ron, from the first moment they met, had lied and manipulated him to position himself as the best friend of Harry Potter. Literally, the first thing he said was a lie: that the train was full and he had nowhere else to sit. And that trend had continued throughout the whole time at Hogwarts. Harry never realized it, but Ron has always tried to isolate him from the other students in Hogwarts and has often caused animosity in his name.

That was something he didn't need anymore. He didn't want backstabbers, leeches, or similar parasites around him. And this project would make sure that the people around him would be loyal to him and reach their full potential.

Harry has finished designing a new race of Goa'uld, one only loyal to its king. The symbiote he was about to create right now That new race was not only the symbiote but also the combination of symbiote and host. His design was also a way to ensure his own life.

He designed them in a specific way; the first time a fresh symbiote entered the body of a host, it would change them. If they weren't wizards, they would become one, at least as far as their genetic potential allowed them to. A host who is already a wizard would be further enhanced to become more powerful.

For this trait, he not only used the data of himself and Pansy but also abducted a few wizards and witches, studied them in the device, before obliviating them and returning them.

Next, the symbiote fused with the host permanently, while also copying all memories of it. And the next part was actually based on magic; he designed a combination of magic and biology to turn the symbiote into something akin to a Horcrux. Containing half of the soul of the host.

This would mean that even if the host died, the symbiote would survive and could inhabit another host. That host would once again transform into the original host, while the symbiote uses the soul inside of it to devour the new host's soul, restore its own soul to full, and make the new host a Horcrux.

A cycle that would ensure the survival of the new host. He also enhanced the ability of the symbiote to keep the host alive and lengthen the natural lifespan, while the other abilities to enhance the host stayed the same. They weren't that important; after all, they can be accomplished with technology all the same.

One drawback of that design is that the only suitable host for the new parasite is humans or others closely related to their physiology, like wizards, ancients, or jaffa. So no more Unas, or maybe even an Asgard.

Another thing he redesigned was the genetic memory; the father of new symbiotes can decide which knowledge gets passed on to the child. The only thing always passed on is the basic Alteran education, including the basic history of the race, some basic knowledge about magic, and earth education.

Further knowledge is strictly controlled during the procreation process. Harry, for example, could decide to pass on the information needed to become a fully-fledged Alteran engineer, doctor, or biologist.

This was a way for him to stay in power over the Empire while not hindering progress. There was no point in having someone else know everything either way. It was not like they would work in every area; it was enough if they became highly specialized to work and research in one area.

Another thing encoded into the genetic code and also the genetic memory is loyalty to him, an instinctual form of loyalty in their genes, and indoctrination in the genetic memory. This was a further countermeasure against betrayal.

There are three types of symbiotes in this new race: the normal symbiote, which was most common, is born from the second and third types of symbiotes. Secondly, the Queen Symbiote is higher-ranked than the common Symbiote, and the common Symbiote is also loyal to the Queen; they are the only ones able to produce new Symbiotes.

Unfortunately, a genetic limitation is that they had to be rare—1 in a few million types of rare—so everything would fit into the genome of the new species he was designing.

The last type of symbiote is unique; to be precise, his symbiote is the highest-ranking symbiote, a king type. His symbiote had the loyalty of the whole species, including the queens.

King and Queen-type symbiotes have a unique relationship; the queens can only reproduce with the help of the king. Also, the king had to decide what knowledge he would pass on to the children while they were reproducing. On the other hand, he, the King, and Queen have a link that allows them to always share knowledge between each other, with the King always in control.

And lastly, the higher-ranking symbiotes have control over the lower-ranking ones; if they try to betray the 'Royal Family' then the King or Queen can force the symbiote to kill the host and itself at will or just cause pain.

These were the fixed ranks that were determined by will. The common symbiotes can also receive ranks that can be changed by a higher-ranked symbiote, giving them the ability to kill and control lower-ranked ones. It was a necessary trait for the future hierarchy in his society so it could be clearly structured while giving lower-ranked ones an incentive to work hard.

Right now, they were about to create the first symbiote by modifying his own, the King. And there would be only one, his. That meant if he died, there would be no more of the race he was creating today. Because he would also delete all the information on how to create a king. He would never need another one because he didn't plan to die. And if ever the need arose, he would have the information in his mind, with the specific genetic markers needed for the king's control.

This hierarchy ranking was quite similar to the Wraith, but theirs was centered around their queens, and they were gathered in hives. In contrast, his race was centered around him, with the Queens positioned right below him.

"Do it. After all, I am going first to prove that it works," Harry pointed out; he had designed it perfectly. "So press the button!"

Pansy did it and activated the Gene Modifier, and the device began to light up as a purple and white helix began to surround him, focusing on changing the symbiote inside of him. Harry felt it changing as the symbiote began to do its work, fusing with him and creating a Horcrux inside the symbiote.

Well, it wasn't really a Horcrux, just based on the magic; the souls were still connected and pretty much one. There is still only one consciousness, not two, like with a Horcrux. Neither did the symbiote have consciousness. It shared its mind with its host; they are one and the same.

Now he was truly of a completely new race, and it needed a name, one made up of two components: the symbiote and the host working together as one. "It worked… I am the Emperor of the Magus Race." Harry's eyes were glowing blue for a moment as he said that.
