8 Unforeseen Complications

(Bonus chapter bc I felt like it.)

After studying the map for a few minutes, we found our new destination. Currently, we were on the corner of 8th and 65th. Fortunately, this was back towards Corsoll's restaurant which was on 5th street.

Surprisingly, the blocks weren't that long. We were able to arrive at the warehouse after just 20 minutes.

Galen looked at me while we stood in front of the warehouse entrance. "You'll do the talking?"

I laughed and nodded. "Sure."

Without waiting any longer, we walked inside. Through the door we went through, there was a lobby of sorts. There were a few chairs off to the side, a display with the news, a vending machine, and a desk with a clerk behind it.

The broadcast's volume was low but still audible. It was covering a recent assassination attempt on a Republic Senator. I wasn't really interested in that so I walked over to the reception desk. "Hello, I'm here to pick up a shipment."

The clerk looked up from the terminal in front of him with a bored expression. "Name?"

I kept the smile on my face, trying to be nice. Maybe I could get quests here too. "Soryn, and this is Galen."

The clerk rolled his eyes. "Is that the name on the order?"

I nodded, understanding what he wanted. "Corsoll."

He looked back down to his terminal, typing in what I presumed to be Corsoll's name. He then reached over and pressed a button. The door to the side of the desk slid open. "Row C, Column 5, bottom shelf. Come back when you get them."

I nodded, gesturing for Galen to follow me. Once we got through the door, I whispered to him. "Well that guy was rude."

Galen shrugged. "He probably hates his job. We got lucky with Corsoll."

I nodded, agreeing with that fully. As we walked, I started hearing voices coming from the back of the warehouse. "I'm guessing this here is row A?"

Galen nodded, but seemed more interested in the voices. "What do you think is going on back there?"

I shrugged, not caring about it. "Let's just get what we came for."

Galen shook his head adamantly. "Come on, Soryn. What if it's some kind of hidden event?"

I sighed. "Fine. Go take a look but be quiet. Once you see what's going on there, come find me. I'll find the crates."

Galen smiled and nodded. "Sure! I'll be right back!"

He quickly pranced off, staying on the tip of his toes in what I presumed to be his ninja strut.

I sighed and shook my head. "God, he looks retarded."

Arriving at Row C, I looked to my left. On the shelf, it said C8. Looking towards my right, the shelf said C7. Turning towards C7, I resumed walking. "This way it is."

A few minutes later, I was pulling the crates that had Corsoll's name on them off of the shelf. Fortunately, there was a trolley I could use to wheel the crates out.

As I had just finished placing the first crate on the trolley, I heard footsteps rapidly approaching my back. Turning around, I saw the idiot running towards me. Before I could shake my head at this, I noticed his excited expression.

Galen ran up to me and grabbed my arm. "Come with me."

I rolled my eyes. "What is it?"

Galen shook his head, pulling my arm. "Come on. You won't regret it."

I sighed, giving in. "Fine."

We walked down row C, turning at the lane that separated C4 and C5. The letters continued to progress, quickly reaching T when we stopped.

Galen put his finger over his lips. "Shhhh."

I nodded, following him towards an open area with shipping containers. The voices had gotten much louder at this point. I would probably know what they were saying if I understood the language.

Finally, the people came into view. Before I could even observe the situation, I got a surprising popup.

[Quest Received]

[Disrupting the Drug Trade]

[Epic Hidden Quest]

[You have discovered a huge drug deal taking place in the underbelly of Coruscant. The Pyke Syndicate is in the process of selling a large supply of product to local crime lords. The deal appears to be almost done so there is no time to contact the authorities. Find a way to stop the deal.]

[Epic Holocron, +4000 exp, +5000 credits, +100 reputation with CSF, +50 reputation with Old Republic, -200 reputation with Pyke Syndicate, Title: Good Samaritan]

I couldn't believe my eyes. Was this supposed to be so easy to find? Then again, we were here by pure coincidence. Getting past that, there were a few things that I was stuck on.

Epic Holocron? Wait, what even is a holocron? Can't only a Jedi open one of those? Maybe it was this game's loot box. I would have to inspect it and find out.

Next was the credit reward at a whopping 5k. That was almost 10 times what I had currently! Maybe I could get a ship with that!

Lastly, that title. I didn't even know titles were a thing in this game! Although lame sounding, it might be useful.

I turned to look at Galen. He was just staring at me with a shit eating grin. I spoke in a whisper to not alert the criminals. "You were right."

Galen covered his mouth, struggling to hold in a laugh. "Of course I was."

I shook my head, gesturing towards the array of shelving behind us. "Let's regroup and come up with a plan."

Galen nodded, understanding what we needed to do. "Lead the way."

We walked back a few rows to allow us to speak freely without alerting the enemies. As we walked, a few things were running through my mind. Firstly, we had no weapons. How can we kill anyone without a weapon?

Secondly, we had no idea how many thugs there would be. There could be some hiding or patrolling and we'd have no idea.

Lastly, neither of us have any fighting experience. This could prove to be a major problem. Regardless, we were in a game. How can one death stop a gamer? On top of that, we have no stats to lose.

We stopped after we had felt we put enough distance between us and the main group. I started laying down my ideas. "Alright, that main group appears to have five people. Three of them are pykes and two are locals. I assume all five are armed. I suggest we split up and try to find a lone thug. With how big this deal is, there has to be a few patrols."

Galen nodded. "That makes perfect sense. I have one issue with that, though. Didn't it say something about 'not enough time'? What if we aren't fast enough?"

I shrugged. "Well, the description didn't mention a time limit. It just said that the CSF couldn't get here fast enough. Even if there was a time limit, there is virtually no chance that we can brute force this."

Galen sighed. "I guess you're right." He then pointed in the direction that the column number ascended in. "I'll go this way."

I nodded. "Sounds good. I'll go the other way then. Let's meet back here once we get a weapon each."
