40 Chapter Forty

"Ephraim? Ephraim Bridger?"

I asked, entering a cell, and seeing the blue-haired man looking at me wearily. I gave him a once-over, He was thin, not skin and bones, but he was thin.

"Yes?"

He was cautious and I looked around the cell, spotting a camera, I shot it with my blaster and looked back to him, taking off my face mask.

"It's me, Colt, come on, we're getting out of here."

I did not want this to take forever, troopers were coming and I did not want to face them in this small room.

"Colt? Son, is that you?"

I turned around and looked out of the door, the alarms were still blaring but no trooper was in sight.

"Yes, now's not the time though, let's get Mira, and then we can leave."

I felt a hand grab my own and I resisted the urge to decapitate the offender, looking back I spotted Ephraim, giving me a grave look.

"You should not be here, son, they could catch you too."

I resisted the urge to slap this... poor excuse of a man in front of me. Taking in a deep breath to calm myself down, I ripped my hand free from his grasp and walked up the steps.

"Now is not the time to act like a parent, let's go, stay behind me as we run down to the first floor."

He hesitated for a moment before following. I ran at a slower pace, because, unlike me, Ephiram was not in any condition to run that quickly. Nevertheless, it did not stop me from opening the doors of the inmates as we passed them.

"You're mother's cell is-"

As he was about to say the exact cell where Mira was, which I already knew, he was cut off by Blaster fire, which I promptly sent back with my saber, and returned with my blaster.

I narrowed my eyes, and using the Force pulled their blasters from their hands. The blasters clattered on the ground, and my blade burned through the plastoid of their armor. Four bodies dropped to the ground, and I bent down to grab one of the blasters, tossing it to Ephiram, who was too stunned to speak.

"Keep one just in case, this place is about to turn into a shit show."

He looked down at the blaster, horrified, for all the "bravery" he showed when speaking out against the empire all those years ago, he was terrified of even holding a blaster...

I roll my eyes and grab him by the collar, dragging him for a few steps before he gets the memo and starts running behind me again. He remained silent, either too stunt to speak or realizing that all that could be done after we got out of there.

Soon enough, we reached the stairs and went down to the first floor and I started heading to the right cell.

"I'll open the cell, you go inside and tell her to come with us, if we don't hurry, the rest of the stormtroopers are going to catch up."

I didn't turn as I spoke, using the force to open the door that led to the female holding cells. It wasn't far away, we reached it quickly and even the door we came through was in view. meaning, that if they swarmed the place, they would come through there, easy targets.

The door opened as soon as I got close and I watched as Ephiram entered I guarded the entrance. I heard some conversation before hearing the hurried footsteps from behind, I didn't need the force to tell me what was happening, as I moved to the side, avoiding a hug from Mira and frowning at her.

"Not the time."

I mutter as I walk past her.

"Come on, we're getting out of here, let's not waste any more time."

I felt her reach out to me, but a second set of footsteps came to a stop behind me, next to her.

"Now is not the time, Mira, we can talk after we get out of here, we can be a family again."

I rolled my eyes as I walked to the door, hearing two steps of footsteps behind me as they followed me.

As we approached the door, I walked out, looking to my right to see that some troopers were holding off the prisoners from upstairs.

...Well, let's not disturb them, shall we?

I turned left and jogged down the hall, approaching the door that had the same vehicle I had come here with.

"Son?"

I tilted my head slightly to indicate that I was listening as we continued walking.

"Colt? Are you listening?"

Ah, right, civilians... It's been a long time since I've actually dealt with them.

"I'm listening."

We reached the room and I motioned them to the door, Ephiram walked in while Mira stood in front of, me, looking at me mournfully.

Was... was she serious?

I holster my blaster and push her inside before she can speak, closing the door behind us.

"What are you thinking? We are in the middle of the prison break, stopping isn't something you do."

I scowl, ignoring her flabbergasted look, and walk over to the hover vehicle, walking inside and stepping over the corpses. Raising a hand, the bodies floated up and out of the vehicle as I motioned them in.

I walk out, ignoring the horrified look from Mira and a grim look from Ephiram, and pointing at the older man.

"Drive, I'll be on the roof, there will be TIE-fighters after us, I have a pickup on standby, but we need to get out of the way of the turrets."

Without waiting for a reply, I turned back to climb on our getaway car.

"On the roof? But that's dangerous! Why don't you stay inside?"

I inhaled deeply before climbing on top.

"Now is not the time, get in and drive."

In the end, just trying to get them inside the damned vehicle took five minutes, and we had a few more passengers too since they just would. Not. Get. In.

I took a deep breath and sighed, in the end, it would work in our favor, now they would have to wonder if I grabbed these two to confuse them or if I was actually trying to get them out.

Or it could all just be fruitless and they would just cut their losses.

Either way, I was still outside, slamming my lightsaber into the hull of one of the TIE fighters that followed us, destroying the lock, ripping off the lid, and pulling out the already dead Trooper inside, a small, ball-sized hole on the top of his helmet.

Before the Aircraft could crash, I jumped inside and took the controls, directing it to one of the two fighters and opening fire, exploding one while the other went out of my field of view.

Shrugging, I grabbed my blaster again and Aimed it at the sky, shooting when the TIE fighter passed overhead and allowing the bolt to dig into the bottom.

Its internal mechanism shut down and the driver lost control, crashing into the road. I sped up the craft and turned it over, dropping down on the top of the roof, landing in a crouch.

Raising a finger, I press the button next to my ear and speak into the comms.

"Chopper, We are on our way to the evac point."

My voice was calm as I stared at the wreckage I left behind absently.

[You Flesh bag! You lied to me!]

I rolled my eyes.

"I got you a souvenir, so don't worry."

I heard more droid noises over the comm and from what I made out of it, he would be there to pick us up. Us as in me and the two I was here to bust out in the first place.

I sighed, not wanting to go inside the vehicle because of the people who got on my nerves very easily and also wanting to remain here to enjoy the wind more.

The main problem with that would be the others would want to come as well... Well, too bad, I wasn't here for them.

___

[A plastic spoon?]

I nodded, putting the said spoon on top of Chopper's head as we sat in the Phantom, ignoring my parent's weird looks.

A small lid opened up and his upgraded tazer extended and tried to zap me, which did not work since it turned off instantly, thanks to the programming that I put into it.

[... You did not...]

I grinned.

"I did."

He grumbled and I chuckled, leaning back in the pilot seat as the autopilot flew the ship.

"Colt? Can we talk?"

I looked up at the two and raised an eyebrow, shrugging.

"Son... Thank you, for rescuing us... But why did you... Kill all those people?"

I looked at Mira for a moment and resisted the urge to roll my eyes. I did not know they would open the door for me to peacefully walk in and escort you out.

"I did what was needed. Now, we need to talk."

Ephiram stepped forward, frowning.

"Killing is not right, Colt."

I stared up at him, was he really trying to lecture me?

"Ezra Bridger, what happened to him?"

I narrowed my eyes at their flinch and I could see Mira tearing up, but I wanted answers.

"T-they took him..."

...Wow, such a precise answer, I understand everything.

"Details, what did "they" look like?"

They hesitated and I waited, not wanting to prolong this any further.

[Meatbags and their emotions...]

I kicked Chopper and he slammed into my foot, which I diligently ignored.

"It was Darth Vader..."

I see... Well, time to fuck some people up the next time I see them...

"How old was he?"

Mira started crying and Ephiram held her consoling her. I just stared at them unmovingly, I did not know them at all, and they did not know me, we may share blood, but that was it.

Finally, Ephiram took a deep breath, sighing as he spoke.

"He was only six years old."

...Welp, I tried, if that little shit comes to try and kill me and he does not listen, off with his head it is.

I hummed and turned around, pressing the comm button again.

"Spectre Two, this is Spectre Six, come in."

The communicator buzzed before Hera finally spoke up, still sounding annoyed that I left.

[Spectre Six, this is Spectre Two...]

I hummed, I would have to get her the fruit she liked.

"Spectre Six, I'm coming back, send me the coordinates of Ghost."

I reached over and prepared to enter the new coordinates, which I did as soon as they arrived and the small ship changed direction.

I would need these two to calm down to answer more questions, which would happen on Ghost.
