(A few days later)

"Alright, now raise your right leg." Vicdean said as he removed the structural scanner from Alita's arm.

She nodded and raised her leg onto the chair.

Feeling a small pulse go through her body, she squirmed, it wasn't very pleasant, as though it was moving inside her going into every nook and cranny.

Vicdean was moving onto the next leg when a loud knocking came from the door.

"Open up!"

Sighing he stood up and strode over to the door.

It slid open and three Rodians walked in, pushing Vicdean out of the way.

They glanced around the room before their leader grabbed a chair and sat down leaning her chest against the backrest.

"Hey doc," she said, spitting a glob of phlegm onto the floor, "how you been holding up?"

Getting up off the ground, Vicdean smiled sowerly, "Great as always."

The Rodian woman smiled, "That's good, that's good."

She then reached out and picking a carbon chisel began playing with it.

"Jabba really wanted to come, talk to you himself, but he's a busy man, so he had to send us."

Flipping it in the air the Rodian caught it and pointed the sharp end at Vicdean, "Luckily for you, I'm one of the more patient, of Jabba's friends, but if I don't, you know, get the money, then someone else might come over and… be a bit more forceful."

Vicdean frowned, "I told him before, I need a few weeks."

Closing her eyes the woman sighed and slammed the chisel onto the table, "The deadline's been moved up, we need the money now!"

Gulping Vicdean glanced over at Alita, before quickly turning his eyes onto the rodian, "I don't have it right now, just give me a few days."

The rodian's eyes widened as she saw the cybernetic woman lying on the medical chair.

"How about her?" she asked, motioning toward Alita.

"No!" Vicdean's answer was so forceful full it made the woman flinch.

Next second, her surprise turned to anger as she jumped up and pointed at Alita, "Take her boys!"

She then turned to the doctor, "Be glad, this'll probably cover your debt."

"Leave her." he shouted but just as he was about to run at the other two rodians, the woman raised her blaster and pointed it at his head.

"Don't make me do this doc, we would really miss your contributions." she said mournfully.

Clenching his jaw Vicdean had to watch as the gangsters carried the still confused Alita out of the workshop.

***

(Alita POV)

The two green men carried me outside, they were being quite gentle so I didn't fight back even though I didn't know them.

"Where are we going?" I asked the two men, but they didn't say a word.

I saw as the woman from earlier strode out onto the street before saying a few words to Vic.

My vision zoomed in on his face, sweaty skin, and contracted pupils, obvious signs of stress.

Seeing his eyes focus on me and go wide, I finally connected the dots.

"Let me go!" I said to the two men, but again they didn't respond.

So I respond in a way adequate to the situation, by breaking their mouths with my elbow.

They both toppled to the floor screaming in pain, holding their faces.

I quickly moved out of the way as a red bolt passed my previous position, hitting a sandstone wall.

"You'll pay for that!" the woman from before said coldly, her blaster aimed at me.

She released another volley of bolts which I dodged again, rapidly nearing her position.

Dodging the last bolt I quickly grabbed onto her blaster and, throwing it to the floor, backhanded her.

The woman sprawled on the ground, blood running down the side of her face.

"You… you." she sputtered, tears welling in her eyes.

My eyes narrowed and I pointed at the two men, "Take your friends and go!"

The woman gritted her teeth, but she did as I told her, grabbing her compatriots she disappeared into the crowd.
