"Grandma, I am home!" Jasmine walked into the house with a bright smile. She was very happy since she had made her first real female friend!

"Jas, you're back! Oh?" Jasmine's grandmother walked out of the kitchen to see a young girl standing behind her granddaughter.

"Hi, grandma! My name is Stacey." Stacey was not shy one bit and waved happily at Jasmine's grandmother.

"You are the girl who lives in the building! When did you become friends with Jas?" Jasmine's grandmother quickly went forward and pulled Stacey aside.

 As for Jasmine, who seemed to be nothing but air, she wondered if she was her grandmother's real granddaughter or not. "Ahem…. Grandma, I am here too, you know."

"Yes, I know. I saw you." Jasmine's grandmother waved her hand at Jasmine before turning her attention back to Stacey. "If my granddaughter bullies you, let me know. But I do hope you can be good friends with her. She is always hanging out with boys. Sometimes, I wonder if she is a girl or not."

"Grandma!" Jasmine cried out. She was one hundred percent a girl! There was no doubt about that!

"Why are you yelling!? I can hear just fine!" Jasmine's grandmother gave Jasmine a teasing smile while yelling at her. She loved her granddaughter dearly. The girl cared more about her grandparents than she did herself. This was why when she saw that Jasmine had brought a new friend home, she was truly happy. "You two go play. Dinner is almost done."

Stacey was giggling away. She liked the interaction between Jasmine and her grandmother. She found it quite cute. "You get along well with your grandmother."

"I only have them. I want them to live long lives, so I will do what I can to make sure they are living happily. I can't offer them much, but I do hope in the future I can give them a better life." Jasmine was truly grateful to have family at all. To have her grandparents with her, she was able to escape a life on the streets or being thrown into an orphanage. But most of all, she was still able to have the love of family that allowed her to get through her darkest days.

"I see…" Stacey felt like she had stepped on a landmine, so she changed the subject as she entered Jasmine's bedroom. "You really have nothing…"

"Haha. I know. I do not see the need to waste money on trinkets and things. I would rather spend it on my dream, so I have been saving little by little to get a used guitar and a laptop. Although I do not have internet here, I figure I can record at home and then upload my songs to the internet at school using their internet." Jasmine explained.

"You sing!?" Stacey was stunned. She never expected Jasmine to be s singer. She grew excited and immediately asked: "Can I hear something?"

"I don't mind, but it will only be a cappella." Jasmine was a tad nervous since no one, but her grandparents had ever heard her sing, but she knew this was something she had to get over with. "Have a seat."

"Okay!" Stacey quickly sat down and stared hard at Jasmine, not wanting to miss anything.

Jasmine pursed her lips and grabbed her notebook. She looked through it for a while until she came upon a song. "We will go with this one."

She took a deep breath and let it out slowly before she began signing.

~~~~~~
Runaway…..
Sometimes I just want to run away…..
The feelings inside….
The feelings that I can't contain….
The feelings that make my life so meangingless~
So meaningless that I want to screeeeam~
The pain inside…..
The pain that is building deep inside….
I miss them so much…..
I wish they were still by my side~
Why did you have to go away….
Why did you have to leave me alone in this world….
~~~~~~

Stacey did not know why, but she started crying. The sadness in Jasmine's voice entered her entire being, making her feel the pain and sorrow that Jasmine felt when she wrote this song. She had never had a song hit her so deeply. It was as if her own heart was being torn out by some sad event that she had never experienced before.

~~~~~~
I know I can do nothing….
I know all I can do is keep going~
I know I must show you that I am fine….
~~~~~~

As the song came to an end, Jasmine gently wiped the tears building up in her eyes. She lifted her gaze to Stacey and was instantly shocked. "Why are you crying!?"

 "Why wouldn't I!?" Stacey jumped off the bed and hugged Jasmine tightly. "You must have been so sad…." Stacey knew this song held deep meaning from Jasmine. Otherwise there would not have been tears in Jasmine's eyes.

Jasmine was a bit taken aback by this hug, but soon her shocked expression turned soft as she gently patted Stacey's back. "It's fine. It was hard then, but now it's fine. I only sang that song because it was the most complete one I have in my book. Everyone must undergo some form of hardship in life. There will always be that one moment. Mine was two years ago when my parents passed away. But now look at me. I go to school and work hard to make sure my grandparents can have a good life. The things my parents can't do I will do in their place. If they are watching, I hope they can look down on me and brag to their ghostly friends that I am an amazing daughter."
