Jasmine's grandmother stood outside her door with her hand hovering over it. She planned to knock, but when she heard the sad tone in Jasmine's voice as she sang, she lowered her hand. She did not know what had happened to her granddaughter, but she could only wait for Jasmine to talk to her about it.

Jasmine never did say anything to her grandparents about her rejection. She was quick to rebound. She had felt much better after singing. So, after eating dinner, she went to her night job as a cashier at a corner store.

"That will be $11.80." Jasmine took the twenty dollar bill from the customer and handed them their change. As the customer left, another one entered. This time, it was a younger girl who looked to be sixteen, maybe seventeen years old. Jasmine could tell right away that something was wrong. "Are you okay?"

"Huh?" The girl was startled. She turned to see a beautiful boy standing behind the counter and fell into a slight daze before remembering her situation. "Umm…. Can I hide in here? Someone is following me."

"Oh?" Jasmine furrowed her brow. The girl in front of her was very cute. Blonde hair, blues eyes, a small petite build. She would be the dream girl of many boys. "Come behind the counter and sit by my feet."

"Thank you!" The girl did not stand on ceremony and quickly hurried behind the counter.

"It's no problem. Just sit tight for the time being. If you want, I can also call the cops." Jasmine did not know the severity of the situation, so she was willing to help in any way possible.

"No, I…. Have called them before, but they only ever tell him to stay away from me." The girl replied while lowering her head.

"Do you know the guy?" Jasmine asked.

"He's a senior from my school. I go to Oakland High." The girl replied. She pulled her knees up to her chest and rested her chin on them. "He has asked me out so many times. I keep refusing him, but he won't give up. He keeps saying we are meant to be. He's crazy!"

Jasmine could see the tears forming in the girl's eyes. This made her feel sorry for the girl. She had never had anyone stalk her before, so it was not something she could relate to. But she was sure it must be a scary experience.

"Why are you running around this late at night?" Jasmine decided to pry a bit.

"Work. I work at Mama Claire's Pizzeria. I was headed home when he suddenly started following me." The girl curled up even more, the more she spoke.

Jasmine felt very sorry for the girl. "If you are okay with it. Stay here until the store closes. I will walk you home after."

The girl raised her head and looked at the smile on the ' young man's ' face and couldn't help but feel touched. "Thank you…. My name's Stacey Norland…."

Jasmine smiled and replied: "Jasmine Woods. Also, I go to the same school as you. I am a senior there."

"Jasmine….. Wait, you are a girl!?" Stacey did not even hear the rest of Jasmine's words and only focused on her name.

Jasmine pursed her lips. She was starting to think no one realized she was a girl…. As this thought came to mind, she suddenly had a major revelation. "He couldn't have!? Ahhh!"

Jasmine suddenly crouched down next to Stacey. She felt very devastated! "Do I really look that much like a boy!?"

"No! Well, at first, I thought you were a boy, but, but, but!" Stacey was panicking and couldn't put her words together right. She had offended the person trying to help her! But she had to admit that Jasmine was very handsome!

"It's fine!" Jasmine sighed and stood up. "I just realized why I got rejected today…."

"Ah…. Sorry…." Stacey felt like she had something to do with this.

"Haha!" Jasmine let out a laugh and smiled. "You did nothing wrong. I never dressed girly in the first place, so it is normal to be mistaken, I guess. Especially since everyone calls me Jas. I just did not realize it until now. In a way, it is kind of funny. Think about it. Your good friend, whom you think is a boy, suddenly confesses to you. As a man, what would you think?"

"Ah…. Hehe… If I were a boy, I would say, I am flattered, but I do not swing that way." Stacey giggled. She found it really amusing.

"Well, it explains why he had such an awkward expression." Jasmine also could not help but feel amused. While it did suck, she was not too hurt by it.

They looked at each other with smiles on their faces. Just from chatting like this made the tense situation from before seem like it was nothing. The bell on the store's door rang, and a young man walked in. Jasmine quickly recognized him as one of the school's football players named Ricky. "Ricky, you are out late."

"Huh? Oh… It's you, Jas…. Ummm, have you seen a blonde-haired girl?" Ricky asked. He was looking up and down the aisles with a strange look in his eyes.

"No, I haven't. Why is she your girlfriend?" Jasmine decided to probe a bit to see if Ricky would lie to her.

"Hmmm?" Ricky scratched his head in frustration as he nodded. "You can say that. Well…. Not officially, but soon."

"I see…. So why are you out searching for her? Why not call her?" Jasmine's questions were getting more and more personal, causing Ricky's expression to change.

"Why are you being so nosy!? A pretty boy like you should just mind your own business! Did you see her or not!?" Ricky suddenly yelled.

"It is my business since the girl you are stalking is my sister." Jasmine's words caused Ricky to freeze. He looked at  Jasmine in disbelief. But his anger soon rose.

"No… She is an only child! So are you! You can not lie to me!" Ricky's face was growing red with anger. He pointed at Jasmine and yelled: "You are hiding her, aren't you!? Tell her to come out!"

"Ricky, you got some balls pointing a finger at me." Jasmine's tone changed. She hopped up over the counter, landed on the other side, and stood before Ricky. "You think you know everything about me and her? Do you really? If I say she is my sister, then she is my sister. What the fuck can you say against that? I will give you a chance to either leave now, or I will call the cops. If you refuse, not only will I kick your ass, but I will also turn your third leg into mush so you can never harass another girl with it."
