82 Not Only Shadows

Vanessa is in the shower in my cabin—a place I've never brought anyone. And something just happened that I'm still caught in the midst of, stunned by its significance. 

"Milaya" and "amore mio." Vanessa referred to me as "my love," too. 

It's more than just the words, though. It's the way Vanessa spoke them, the way she extended an offer—with her soul bare and exposed and tender looking upon mine. That's what I'm still feeling—the current of what just flowed between us. 

It's surprising enough that I have to stop and stare at my hands, wondering whether I truly am separate from this world and alone like I've always assumed. It looks like I am. But skin is deceiving, because flowing through me at this very moment is Vanessa and the endearment we shared. Our connection is here, overwhelming and beautiful and passing through my skin as if it doesn't exist.
