How was Vanessa able to see the fears that started falling like stars in my mind when Matvey suddenly turned on her at dinner? That should have been hidden. There is a very solid wall separating what I want her to see from what I don't want her to see, and anything that jeopardizes the confidence that everyone has in me is on the private side of that wall.
My surprise was too obvious, and now it looks like she isn't going to let it go. Because I'm not the only one questioning my gift now—so is she.
