Star Children

---------------- My name is Star Tel, and I am going to die in one year. Basically, long story short, I have a disease, that in exchange for special powers, it kills me. Oh, and I have absolutely no memories about my past. Plus, weird things have been happening recently. Well, weirder than normal at least. Summary: Problems: Too many. Solutions: Too little. So, I’m basically screwed. I've done, seen, and heard things that I wasn't supposed to, and now I'm afraid I know too much. I only hope it's not too late to fix my mistakes... ---------------- Hey everyone! This is just a quick note for readers. I just wanted to let everyone know that my schedule for uploading chapters isn't that consistent, but I'll try to update it sometime every week, at 3:00pm-6:00pm. This is just a goal for me, so I might not upload it at that time every time, but I'll still try to. If you have any questions, or constructive critisism, feel free to comment on any chapter, preferably the latest one, as I might not check the older ones. Thanks for taking a moment to read this, and my story, and I hope you enjoy!

Opponent

I immediately leapt to the side, staring at my opponent. Ben sprinted for me, and swung for my head. I blocked it with my shield, but Ben just used his shield to knock me back. I coughed, and almost fell over. This was nothing like I expected. I was severely outmatched - by physical attributes at least. That's when I remembered - this wasn't just some normal fight, this was a fight between two people with powers. I stretched out my hand, and realized In the time that I had realized that, Ben had disappeared. Suddenly, I was knocked back, as if someone had just punched me in my gut. But there wasn't anyone there… then It clicked.

Ben's ability was Illusion. The Illusion didn't necessarily have to look like a physical object, it could also be whatever was in front of me, basically acting as a perfect camouflage. I was on my back, panting, but I quickly recovered, and used my ability to pause time around me. No matter what Ben did, he couldn't break through something that wasn't physical. I stood there, catching my breath, before taking in my surroundings. Ben was nowhere to be seen. I thought carefully. My power was almost useless against him. There was nothing I could do. That's when it hit me. Illusions were sight based. Just one of the senses. Why couldn't I just use one of my other senses?

I smiled.

I focused on my hearing, and sure enough, I heard a slight *pat* in the distance. I located the source of the sound, and it stopped. I deactivated my sphere, and immediately activated it where I thought I heard the sound. Wasting no time, I sprinted in that direction. I saw my sphere and… Ben was in it. I silently cheered, and, just as I was about to hit him, something else hit me, making me flip over. Someone had hit me from the back of my head. My mind went numb, and I couldn't think. Nothing else happened. As I was recovering, I turned over and was met with… a completely monochromatic world.

My mind was slowly coming back. And when I could think again, I realized what had happened. Ben inside the sphere was an illusion, and had hit me from behind. But the reason the world was monochromatic was because, even though the Ben I saw was Fake, The stop time sphere wasn't, and since I was charging to the Fake Ben in the sphere, I had ended up in the sphere when Ben hit me. It was a miracle - a stroke of amazingly good luck.

And then, I realized something else. I was basically inside the sphere when Ben hit me, so he had to have gone into the sphere, trapping him with me. Even if it was just one part of him, or even the sword, it still gave me a huge advantage. I hoped that It was his body, but I turned around, and saw only the sword. And based on where the hilt of the sword was, there had been just an inch between him and the sphere. I yet again listened, trying to find out where Ben had gone, but I heard silence. Ben had most likely assumed that I used hearing, so he was either being silent while he was moving, or he was completely still.

That's when I had yet another Idea.

It might not work but… if it did, it would work well.

I got ready, and then made my time stop field, into a time fast area, making it as fast as I could. I then continued making spheres, all the way around the field, until I could finally see him. If he couldn't see where I went, he couldn't make illusions to block my view of him. Or, if he could, he can't make illusions all around him perfectly forever. And at that moment I would know where he is.

As soon as I located him, I charged him yet again, sure that this was the real him. And as I hit him, I heard a *crack* as the sword hit his head, outright knocking him onto the ground, and Ben immediately getting knocked out. Since I was still fast, my sword was faster than normal, making it more powerful.

I stood there, my sword still in the position it was in when I hit Ben, panting. My heart was pounding. I kept gasping for air, and suddenly my body couldn't support itself. I had overexerted myself. This was more exercise than I'd done in the last week combined - which wasn't that much anyways.

As I hit the ground, I heard cheering. I couldn't think clearly. I felt my body being lifted up, and carried somewhere. My whole body hurt like heck. I slowly passed out, and slipped into a new dream.
