Star Children

---------------- My name is Star Tel, and I am going to die in one year. Basically, long story short, I have a disease, that in exchange for special powers, it kills me. Oh, and I have absolutely no memories about my past. Plus, weird things have been happening recently. Well, weirder than normal at least. Summary: Problems: Too many. Solutions: Too little. So, I’m basically screwed. I've done, seen, and heard things that I wasn't supposed to, and now I'm afraid I know too much. I only hope it's not too late to fix my mistakes... ---------------- Hey everyone! This is just a quick note for readers. I just wanted to let everyone know that my schedule for uploading chapters isn't that consistent, but I'll try to update it sometime every week, at 3:00pm-6:00pm. This is just a goal for me, so I might not upload it at that time every time, but I'll still try to. If you have any questions, or constructive critisism, feel free to comment on any chapter, preferably the latest one, as I might not check the older ones. Thanks for taking a moment to read this, and my story, and I hope you enjoy!

Hospital

The Pain was almost unbearable. I was on the verge of reality, and nothingness. Blackness enveloped my entire body. But I had something to do, I was here for a reason… What was it? I searched my brain for my purpose. Then I realized, I couldn't remember anything. What was happening? Where was I? Who was I? I stretched my hand out, reaching for something - anything. I felt something touch my hand, and suddenly I was awake.

I opened my eyes to find myself in a hospital bed. I slowly looked around. I was in a large room, with other people set orderly in hospital beds like mine. Someone was standing next to me, staring at me. They looked to be a doctor. "Hello Mr. Tel. How do you feel?" I tried to talk, but my voice just didn't work. "As expected." He typed something into a laptop. "After a few minutes your voice should come back. I will return." He got up, grabbed his laptop, and walked to one of the other patients.

I put my hand to my head. What was happening? What was that dream about? I layed there for a few minutes, waiting for the doctor to return. "Hello again Mr. Tel." I opened my eyes, and looked to see that the doctor was back. "Can you talk?" "I… Where am I?" I asked in a hoarse voice. "I am sorry Mr. Tel, but we cannot disclose that information to you right now." "Wha- Why?" "Again, I am truly sorry but I cannot disclose that information either." I sighed, frustrated. "Then can you at least tell me why I'm here?" "Later someone will come to answer all of your questions. Right now I need you to answer some of mine." I sighed, and nodded.

"First: How are you feeling?" The doctor asked. "I feel completely normal." The doctor nodded, typing something else into his laptop. "Do you remember anything?" I thought for a moment before saying "Wait… I don't remember anything!" This was like in the dream - I couldn't remember anything! "Please calm down. There is nothing to be alarmed about. This is completely normal." "What?! It's normal!? How is not remembering anything normal!?" "It's not normal for us - it's normal for everyone else here that is on a bed like you." "What makes us different from anyone else? Are we sick with some disease or something?" The doctor nodded. "It's a very rare type of disease that you all gained from-" He stopped himself. "Sorry, I can't say anything right now. Someone else will be here to answer all of your questions later." So close. "Well, It'd be best if I were on my way. Good day."

So we were infected by some sort of disease. That explains why we're here. But I feel completely fine. I didn't feel sick at all. I layed back down, and fell asleep. I was awoken by someone shaking me. I opened my eyes, and found myself looking at another doctor. I was in a different room than I was in before. The walls were gray, and the floor was some sort of carpet. "Hello Mr. Tel." The doctor said. "I am here to answer your questions." So this was the person that the other doctor was talking about. "Where am I?" I asked. "You are in a Secret facility designed for people like you." "By 'People like me' I assume you mean the other sick people?" He nodded. "Yes. The other Star Children." "Star Children?" I asked, confused. "Yes. The other people infected with the disease that you have." "What does this disease do? I feel completely fine." "The disease itself we know almost nothing about. We found you all with it already, and it seems that it is not contagious at all. And to answer the question on what it does, " He took a deep breath. "It grants you superhuman powers, with the exchange that in one year, you will die."
