Chapter 5

Michael’s embrace tightened ever so slightly. “Would—would it be weird if I mentioned that I have had a crush on you for years?”

Chas shook his head, nuzzling his forehead further into Michael’s shoulder. “I always thought you were one of the most handsome men on board.” He trembled as he spoke, relieved to be able to finally say these words, but terrified to let them out at the same time. He thought he would vomit or that Michael would suddenly scorn him for being so forward. All his fears were erased when he felt Michael’s lips softly pressing against his ear. Reflexively, he pushed Michael away. “I’m sorry, it’s just…” Chas craned his neck to look towards the hallway. “What if someone walked by?” he whispered.

“Most of the crew is either asleep or still at the bar.” Michael got to his feet and closed the door. “I know what it’s like to hide, too, Chas. I’m not about to make some amateur mistake.”
