Desperate Measures

The Sky Emperor widened his eyes. The peerless formation of the Aro's Arrow was undefeated by no one. In the province, it could be said that nobody truly stood a chance against the faction that was known as the Sky Society.

But why? Why only now does things seem to be falling apart for him? Was this what was destined, or was this the true power of a god inheritor?

Even all the information he had researched on the Goddess of Blood couldn't have prepared him for this situation. She could only have recently acquired the inheritance, but already, she is stronger than the Sky Society as a faction, at the younger age of 15!?

It was simply unreal, he refused to acknowledge her strength. Looking at the red figure, standing without a hitch, proudly in the air, it only further brought him into despair.

While many beings were at play within this battle, Xi Meiyings eyes had only one target in front of them. It seemed a string of blood red silk connected the two, for one wouldn't live without the other dying.

*Swoosh!*

Without sparing any moment, Xi Meiying disappeared.

The Sky Emperor quickly prepared himself, manifesting a sword of gale within his hands. Predicting her approach, he swung forward.

*CLANG!*

A shockwave erupted forth, pushing the Sky Emperor away, but seemingly having no effect of the bloody angel that had now appeared in front of him.

"Sky Emperor!"

The four saints witnessed in horror the true power that had been described to them. It was clear, now more than ever, what the severity of their situation truly was. Still though, they believed that no matter what, gaining such a power at such short notice was bound to have consequences on the body of such a young woman. For them, their saving grace was her endurance, how long she could truly match them before she gave out, as the only thing dividing them and victory, was the Goddess of Blood.

Appearing in front of their emperor who had just finished his tumble in mid air, the saints gathered gale around their arms. Only through repeated barrage they believe would allow them to overcome the mighty foe in front of them.

Meiying watched the formation in front of her, paying no mind to it. It was already affirmed to her just how much power she was able to wield, and how far she could go. It was long ago that these saints were no longer a threat, but only bells that decorated her pray.

Instead of speaking needless words, she attacked.

The Saints prepared, bursting fourth with all of the Wind Qi at their disposal. The surrounding structures responded, collapsing immediately under the sheer pressure of the wind, stirring up the atmosphere. Along with it, the weather seemed to mimic, gathering dark clouds to cover the pure light of the sun.

*BOOM*

Once again, they didn't understand the enemy at hand.

The four saints were nearly knocked unconscious from the blow, tumbling similarly to their emperor just moments before, albeit, uncontrollably. But before they could react, someone was a step further.

*Shing!*

A Sharp sword made of blood piercing through the four of them.

Like a slash that split reality, the saints were cut straights across their gut. The force of the blade immediately propelled them, sending them hurling towards the ground, leaving behind an eerie, but beautiful blood mist behind.

Appearing in their place, Xi Meiying, with the blood wings adorning her back, faced the still emperor in front of her.

He was bare, without support, it was clear to both and to anyone, had they stood witness to their fight, that he was no match. Soon, the entire military might of the Sky Society would collapse, leaving none to protect the people that resided there. The result of the battle was set in stone the moment he first stepped once again on the grounds of the Xi Clan.

It was a revelation he was not ready for.

"I have really underestimated you, Xi Meiying."

Though, she cared not for a word spoken from his mouth as her body became a mirage.

Only sensing the speeding figure, but not seeing her, the Sky Emperor signed.

Why care about life when there is nothing left of it? Why fight for a chance to keep his life, when really, there was no way he would be leaving with it? A senseless fight? Out of all, he should know best.

So then what? Who or what does he have to rely on now?

It seemed he had only one manner within his mind. He was never one to lose, and should he ever lose, his enemy would be dragged down with him.

Putting his hand over his chest, his decision resolved within his mind, he dug his own finger deep into the beating flesh beneath them, crushing his heart completely.

"AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!"

A Scream, sounding as if death itself had created it, flooded the known world.

Suddenly, bursts of energy emanated in all directions. The sheer fluctuations of Qi caused ripples in space, warping the nearby areas. The source? The Sky Emperors body, as it began to glow a white hue, glowing brighter with time.

*BOOM*'

But that didn't stop Xi Meiying's advance as she hammered him down towards the ground, just as she did the saints.

Still, the act he had just preformed could not be ignored.

'Sacrificing his own life in exchange for a short moment of strength... it seems he too now realizes there is no other way.'

The Goddess of Blood within Meiying's mind chuckled a bit.

'You better hurry up and finish him, I am not one to lose so soon after my return. You and I equally know the state of your body. His life is not worth your own.'

Meiying narrowed her eyes down at the ball of dust that she had created. Slowly, the dust faded to reveal the opponent at hand. She remained quiet, ignoring the goddess as she always had.

The Sky Emperor, clouded in a pure, white energy, faced Meiying in the sky.

"It seemed that your life never had any worth to begin with."

Meiying spoke disdainfully.

Seeing the commotion and feeling the violent Qi, the four incapacitated saints could only watch their Emperor in honor. They, as powerhouses, were able to recognized the move he had just performed. It seemed all of their life's were bound to end today, but to be able to watch this spectacle, their emperor beating down a unsurmountable foe, will be the joy of their lives.

If only they truly understood their opponent.

A/N: I'll try to get back on this novel, and excuse me for any errors in consistency within this new chapter, as it has been nearly a month since I dropped the last one and the story has grown thinned in my mind. For the ones that still read this novel, I'll try my best to upload at least twice a week, as this is now my sub novel, and not my main concentration. Though, as I have a school break soon approaching, it is not out of the question to have a daily upload for a week or so. Still, not all is set in stone, I just hope you guys as readers enjoy this chapter as I may have rushed it a bit.
