96 Chapter 95: Xavier's Punishment

Rupert started tracking Zarah's phone. The last recorded location was at the old apartment.

Meanwhile, Chris tracked the motorcycle that Zarah used. The vehicle used had a geo tracker. It sent its location to Chris' computer when used.

Chris found out where its last location was.

Xavier came out of the room neatly dressed in black.

He saw the door near where he was staying was open. So he decided to check it out first.

"Drive me to the mansion, Chris."

Chris turned around and looked at Xavier.

The people in the room became alarmed when they saw how pale his face was.

"Master, as your doctor, I advise you to stay here. You looked unwell," Tristan said.

Xavier was close to passing out. He looked so weak.

This man had a few hours of sleep from that operation. It was midnight now.

"Since when did I listen to you, Tristan?" Xavier asked, much to his disappointment.

Xavier never listened to him.

"Then, let me go with you. I can't just let you wander around without my watch."

"I'll go, too," Vince said.

"We can't fit inside Master's car," Chris told them.

"Vince and I will follow your car. Tristan will come with you," Rupert suggested.

And besides, they dared not to risk Xavier's safety after the assassination attempt.

They had driven their cars here.

The five left the villa with Xavier's men.

Their car disappeared in the night.

Olivia heard someone ringing the doorbell.

They couldn't sleep for the night. They were monitoring Zarah's condition.

She was also monitoring the development of what happened to Gil Hotel. She was communicating with Jackson about this.

They recovered two burned bodies on the scene. The police sent them to the crime lab for forensic examination.

Jackson was closely monitoring this case. According to Trixie, Zarah failed to profile them.

So, he had to finish the job for her.

'Why do I feel that Zarah is a member of a mafia house?' he thought suddenly.

That was the only explanation he could find.

He tried to investigate Zarah, but he found nothing peculiar.

Back to the apartment, the doorbell kept ringing.

Olivia asked Kelsey to answer the door because she was busy.

Kelsey was surprised to see five men standing by the door.

She recognized the cold man standing outside with them.

"Who is it?" Olivia asked after seeing that Kelsey was hesitating to open the door.

She saw that it was Xavier waiting outside. He looked so pale like he was close to passing out.

"Open the door," Olivia instructed calmly.

"Are you sure? Zarah didn't leave any instructions." Kelsey was reluctant to do so.

Kelsey could tell that Zarah was upset with him.

"We can't keep him away from his wife," Olivia answered.

Olivia decided to open the door instead.

"Hello, Olivia." Chris greeted her.

"Is my wife home?" Xavier asked her impatiently.

"What are you doing here?" she asked him. "You should go back home, Xavier. Zaza will see you tomorrow," Olivia continued, which puzzled Kelsey.

Kelsey thought that Olivia would let them in as soon as she opened the door.

Xavier entered the apartment, and what Olivia said went on deaf ears.

"Mon amour?! Are you there? I'm sorry, okay? I'll not do it again." Xavier loudly said. Thea and Trixie come out of the room.

"What is going on? The patient needs rest! " Thea scolded them.

"Who's the patient?!" Xavier asked immediately.

Thea was stunned to see Xavier's terrifying aura when he asked the question.

Dr. Thea Aldrich looked at Trixie for help. Meanwhile, Trixie looked at Olivia.

"Zaza is the patient."

"Where is she?!"

Olivia pointed at the room where Zarah was staying.

Xavier hurriedly approached the door and opened it.

Zarah was lying on Trixie's bed. She was wearing Trixie's loose shirt. Her face was pale, and her lips were chapped. There was a cooling strip on her forehead.

Zarah had a fever immediately after Trixie and Kelsey left the room.

Thea and Trixie were doing everything to lower her temperature.

An IV drip was attached to her left arm. A basin of water with a white towel inside was on top of the stool beside the bed.

Xavier thought Zarah had a high fever and that she needed an IV drip for it.

However, his sight landed on the empty blood bag on the nightstand. Xavier's expression changed dramatically.

His pale complexion turned paler when he realized what was going on.

Everyone stood outside near the door.

He rushed to Zarah's side, ignoring Tristan's anxiety. His rash actions might open the stitches.

Xavier sat on the side of the bed and grabbed Zarah's arm. He was unaware that his hands were trembling.

"I give you thirty seconds to tell me what happened to my wife," he commanded.

"A bullet pierced through Zaza's shoulder," Olivia answered as she entered the room with Thea in tow.

"Who did this to her?"

"You should ask her when she wakes up. We don't know either." Olivia white lied.

"Why did you not bring her to the hospital?" Xavier asked her.

"She doesn't like hospitals. I thought you knew of that fact." Olivia told him with a mocking tone.

"I do. However, Zarah should be in the hospital now."

"Then why are you not in the hospital, to begin with, Xavier?" Olivia asked him.

"Because I don't want her to know," Xavier answered guiltily.

"There you go. That's the answer. Don't worry. Kelsey managed to remove the bullet from Zaza's shoulder. Dr. Aldrich is monitoring her condition."

"Then why is she burning up?" Xavier asked.

"The wound got infected. Don't worry. We've given Zarah antibiotics to battle the infection," Thea answered.

"I think you should go home and rest, Sir. You don't look well yourself. Are you okay?" Dr. Aldrich continued.

Tristan approached Xavier and touched his forehead, then Zarah's forehead.

"You're burning up, Master!"

The wound was infected. Tristan wanted to scold Xavier for being stubborn.

However, he knew that his lecture would be useless.

"Can we arrange another bed for Master?" Tristan asked.

The room was spacious enough for another bed.

"There's no need for that. Everyone, go back and rest. I'll take care of my wife."

Xavier was about to grab the towel from the basin to start wiping Zarah's arms.

"Are you sure that you can, Master? I'm sure your wound is bleeding right now. You should be resting in bed and not here!" Tristan could no longer hold back his anger.

"Ahem! Master, we are aware that you wanted to take care of Zarah. However, I'm sure that this would anger her, too."

Rupert then told Xavier about what happened to the operating room.

Rupert had asked for a report of what happened during the surgery from the assistant. Xavier had the habit of documenting every medical procedure conducted on his body.

Xavier felt guilty after listening to Rupert's report.

Xavier looked at Tristan and said, "I won't listen to someone who got knocked down by my wife."

Xavier got up and walked to the other side of the bed.

With everyone's watchful eyes, he slowly climbed onto the bed and lay beside Zarah.

"However, I do not want to worry my wife more, so I'll listen to Rupert." Xavier continued.

Tristan's lips twitched in disbelief. Did he have to humiliate him?

He slowly moved closer to hug Zarah.

Tristan quickly asked Vince to grab the medical supplies he had prepared inside the car.

When Vince returned, he attached the IV drip to Xavier's hand and gave him antibiotics.

The two doctors stayed inside the room while the others went to the living room.

Olivia told Chris that there was coffee in the kitchen. They could have a cup or two to keep them awake.

It was a sleepless night for everyone involved.

Morning came, and the couple's condition stabilized.

Tristan and Thea walked out of the room to grab a cup of coffee.

They passed by the living room and saw Olivia's head resting on Kelsey's lap. Kelsey's head was leaning against the backrest of the sofa.

Meanwhile, Chris and Rupert were not around. The clock read seven in the morning.

They thought those two had left to prepare for office.

Those two had a busy schedule ahead.

They had to run the business on Xavier's behalf.

"Phew! I never thought Master had married an equally stubborn woman." Tristan commented while looking at the closed door.

"I bet your job is easy after witnessing it last night," Thea teased.

"Heck! You're trying to mess with me, are you not?" Tristan managed to catch on to it.

"Yeah. You only have one patient to attend to compared to having multiple patients inside the hospital," Thea explained.

It was more likely to meet ten Xavier-like patients in the hospital.

Thea was not complaining, though. She had chosen this profession. Therefore she had to bear with it.

They decided to drink coffee, so they headed to the kitchen.

Trixie was cooking breakfast for everyone.

"Good morning!" she greeted Thea.

"Good morning, Dr.--?" Tristan had not introduced himself to the girls. So he cut her off to introduce himself.

"Dr. Tristan Miller."

"How are you related to the other Miller?" Trixie asked as she met the old Dr. Miller at Isaiah's funeral. That was why his last name was familiar to her.

"He's my dad."

"Oh! Are you both hungry? I'm making pancakes."

Their stomachs growled in hunger after hearing Trixie's question.

They both chuckled awkwardly. Trixie grabbed two clean plates and started serving them.

Thea plugged in the coffee maker so they could have their hot coffee.

"Trixie, can I ask you something?"

"Sure," Trixie answered while she skilfully flipped the pancake.

"It's about Zarah."

"Oh!"

"If it's not okay to ask, it's fine. I'm only curious," Thea said guiltily.

Trixie placed the last pancake on the plate and put the pan on the sink.

"I know what you're about to ask," Trixie said while washing the pan.

"It's about Arah's high pain tolerance, isn't it?" she continued.

"Yes."

She had been in the medical field for almost a decade. However, she had never met someone like Zarah.

"She was already like that when we met. I can't tell you how she became like that," Trixie answered honestly.

She had no idea how Zarah had high pain tolerance from her neck down to her lower body.

"It's fine. Zarah's condition is rare."

Back inside the room, Zarah groaned when she felt something heavy on her chest.

She tried to push it away but flinched when she felt something soft.

She opened her eyes to see what it was.

"A hand?"

She then looked to her left. She was surprised to see Xavier's sleeping face! She remembered that she was not at the mansion.

She was at Olivia and Trixie's apartment.

"What is he doing here?" she whispered.

Zarah became worried after she remembered Xavier's serious injury.

He should be recovering at the villa and not here.

Trixie's bed felt so small for them both.

She was about to touch Xavier's forehead when his hand stopped and held her hand instead.

"How long have you been awake?" Zarah asked with a hoarse voice.

"Not that long," he honestly answered.

"Why didn't you wake me up?"

"You needed more sleep. So, I gave you a couple of minutes. Listen, I'm sorry."

"Save it, Xavier. I don't want to hear it now," Zarah seriously said. She shut him off immediately.

"Tell me what I should do to get your forgiveness," Xavier pleaded desperately.

He didn't like having any misunderstandings with Zarah.

Worse, he didn't want to sleep away from her at night.

"Recover first. Then I'll think about it." Zarah said passively.

"Okay. I will do that. What else?"

"You can't hug or kiss me. You can't hold my hands. And most importantly, we can't have s*x."

"What?!" Xavier cried in despair after hearing his punishment.

'You pervert!' Zarah thought.

"Don't you want it? Then, I'll file for divorce," Zarah leveled up the punishment.

"No!" Xavier shouted in protest.

"I will do what you ask. Just don't mention that word again," Xavier continued.

Xavier had the urge to bribe a legislator. He wanted to delete the Divorce Law from the books and ban it forever.
