60 Chapter 59: Being Kicked Out from the EA's Office

Zarah and Hope left the cafeteria after they finished eating.

Zarah had one class in the afternoon and the rest was her vacant time.

She decided to stay at the library until 2:30 in the afternoon.

By 2:45, she went out of the school building. She decided to walk from her campus to the Stevens Group building.

Her school was only outside the business district of Oakridge City. She also knew the shortest way to go there.

She was walking beside the road within the school premises when a car slowed down beside her. She looked at it and she instantly knew who owned the car.

The car window at the back rolled down and the passenger spoke, "Zarah, are you heading home? I'll drive you there."

Zarah looked at him calmly and said, "It's fine Josh. I can manage."

Zarah was wondering what he was doing at her school.

"Zarah. Come on! Don't be stubborn." Josh tried to coax her into getting inside the car.

However, Zarah didn't listen to him.

Josh asked the driver to pull over on the side. The driver did what he was told and Josh hurriedly came out of the car and chased after Zarah.

"Zarah! Please!"

He then grabbed Zarah's arm so she would stop walking and look at him.

It was not his plan to do this. He had some appointments with the campus director and he happened to see Zarah walking.

He wanted to ignore her but the strong urge in his heart wanted to give her a ride.

When she rejected his offer, he could not accept it and so he decided to chase after her.

"What do you want, Josh?"

"I just want to offer you a ride."

"Thanks but no thanks."

Josh didn't want to accept the fact that their relationship was reduced to this.

"Zarah, don't be unreasonable, okay?"

She was unreasonable? She didn't want to see him. Was it hard to understand?

"Let go of me," Zarah said in a cold tone. Disgust and anger were written all over her face.

Josh subconsciously let go of her hand and she grabbed this opportunity to run away from him.

Zarah ran as fast as she could as she was afraid they would chase after her. Good thing she was wearing boots and not heels.

Looking at Zarah's back, Josh felt sad and regretted it.

Josh had the intention of making friends with Zarah. Yes, he wanted her back. However, he was aware that he was no match for Xavier.

He wanted to gain her trust back while he was making himself stronger. However, it seemed like the road going there was rocky.

Nevertheless, he was willing to work hard for it.

He vowed to take her away from Xavier one day and be worthy of her love.

As for Natalie? He was only obeying his father's plan even though he was disgusted being around her for even a short second.

He had to admit that his father was still in control of his life and his future.

Zarah stopped running when she realizes that Josh didn't follow her. She was covered with sweat when she reached the outside of the campus.

Suddenly she was pulled from behind and her back hit a strong wall and those arms wrapped around her.

And just like that, she smelled the familiar woody scent that she knew only one man possessed.

The man hugged her from behind.

"Xavier," she called his name and the man chuckled behind her. His chuckle caused vibrations in his chest and it sent tingles at the back of her neck.

Xavier then loosened the hug and Zarah turned around to face him.

"What are you doing here?" She asked with a smile which Xavier missed the most.

"I wanted to surprise you so I decided to pick you up. But then I saw you running on the street. What's the matter?" He asked her gently.

'Oh! I'm fine. I'm almost late. Therefore, I decided to run.' Zarah wanted to say this but then she thought that she should be honest.

Honesty and trust were the best foundation in a relationship.

"I saw Josh driving around the campus. He wanted to give me a ride but I rejected him. I thought he would chase after me so I ran."

Xavier's gaze darkened after he heard that she met Josh. However, he relaxed when Zarah explained that it was only an encounter and she rejected his offer.

Seeing his serious face, Zarah felt a little guilty therefore, she asked, "Are you mad?"

Xavier smiled and said, "No, I'm not. I'm glad that you're being honest and that you rejected him."

He then changed the subject and said, "Let's head to the company together."

"Okay."

Zarah didn't know that because of this incident, Xavier would pick her up every day from school.

Inside the car, Xavier grabbed her and made her sit on his lap in a straddling position.

Zarah looked down as she felt shy being this close to Xavier's handsome face.

As he saw her red face, he understood that she was shy.

"Don't be shy mon amour. I'm your boyfriend now," he teased her.

Being busted, Zarah looked up and confessed, "I can't control my heart from beating faster every time I look at you."

Xavier felt happy when he heard it and so he cupped her face and gently squeezed her cheeks.

"Did you miss me?" He asked softly.

"I did." Zarah was being honest now.

Xavier nodded in satisfaction.

"I miss you, too. I also miss kissing you."

Zarah's eyes widened in shock because of this man's shamelessness and her face turned beet red.

Zarah playfully jab his broad chest and said, "Oh my gosh! Xavier, you truly enjoyed teasing me, huh."

"I'm not teasing you. I said it with sincerity," he denied and his shameless response made Zarah speechless for the second time.

While he was away, all Xavier could think about was how good Zarah's lips tasted against his.

Her sweetness still lingered in his mouth and so he wanted more of it.

Zarah took time to recover and when she did, they were close to the company building.

Xavier pulled her closer and hugged her instead, "This will do for now."

Xavier thought that he should calm himself to not scare her.

He thought that since Zarah was in a relationship with Josh before, she should not be shocked when hearing his confessions, right?

After all, it was normal for a man to deliver sweet words of love to his beloved woman.

What Xavier didn't know was every relationship was different since it was with another person.

Yes, comparing the present with the past was unavoidable but it was never the same. It will never be the same.

If that was the case, he was glad that he made Zarah's heart flutter just like what she was doing to him every day.

The car then pulled over and Brian came out to open the door for Xavier.

Xavier came out and waited for Zarah outside the car like a gentleman.

He extended his hand and waited for her to grab it but Zarah glared at him.

They had an agreement to never show affection in the company, especially when there were outsiders.

Zarah avoided his hand and awkwardly shoved it into his pocket. "Thank you, Chairman Lockhart."

Zarah didn't forget to tease her boyfriend.

Zarah walked a step behind Xavier as he was the boss and they were in the company.

This annoyed Xavier.

The employees in the lobby greeted them when they entered.

"Good afternoon, Chairman Lockhart!"

However, they were extra polite to Zarah which puzzled her.

"Good afternoon Miss Jansen!"

She thought that maybe because she was walking with Xavier that was why they were doing this.

She then saw on the huge LED screen in the lobby, the new members of the Board of Directors, and her name and photo were in there.

"Why are my name and photo there?" She asked and Xavier stopped walking to answer her.

"Well, you're a member of the board since you have the second-highest shares in this company."

"Is it really necessary to announce it like this?"

"Yes. So that the employees are aware and will not make a mistake."

Almost half of the previous Board of Directors members were forced to sell their shares.

A batch of new faces who were unfamiliar to them replaced those people.

Zarah thought that Xavier was exaggerating by doing this. She knew that he was doing this for her sake. But since he reasoned like that, she just let him be.

"So Dylan is one of us, now?" She asked after seeing Dylan's name on it.

"Yes."

Dylan decided to invest the money he had in his bank in Xavier's businesses just in case his grandfather, Chairman Timothy would strip him of the inheritance.

"Let's go. We have things to do."

Zarah and Xavier went to the elevator. Xavier entered his private elevator while Zarah used the common elevator.

Xavier frowned when he didn't see Zarah coming in and so he hurriedly went out of his elevator and rushed to the common elevator.

The door of the elevator was about to close but Xavier stuck his hand in between and prevented it from closing.

Zarah was surprised to see Xavier in the elevator.

"Why are you here?" She asked however she heard no response as Xavier pulled her out of the elevator and dragged her to his elevator.

Xavier's actions puzzled the employees in the lobby.

"Since you're my assistant now, you can ride with my elevator."

"Okay?" Zarah was unsure.

As soon as the elevator closed, Xavier pinned Zarah with his body against the wall.

Zarah giggled to release the sudden tension that she felt with this proximity.

"Miss Jansen, I think you forgot something."

"What do you mean, Mr. Lockhart?"

"I'm your boyfriend now yet you forgot to give me a welcome kiss earlier."

Zarah felt a tingling sensation in her stomach.

Her body's reaction to what he said made her thirsty. And so, she opened her mouth and subconsciously licked her bottom lip which was the last straw for Xavier.

Xavier covered her lips with his.

Zarah didn't push him but welcomed him instead.

Yes, she missed him. She didn't want to openly admit this to him but she missed his kiss, too.

The kiss was so good that Zarah forgot where they were.

A low moan escaped from her lips and she subconsciously gripped his jacket and wanted to pull her closer to him.

She had never been this needy before.

Yes, she kissed Josh but it was never like this.

Xavier's hand roamed around her body and it landed on her chest he sized them up with his palm.

Xavier was proud that Zarah had a good body and her chest did not lack in that department.

Yes, he knew she was wearing a padded bra underneath but he once saw her braless before.

Unfortunately, he was not able to hold them in his hand because he was afraid that Zarah would hate him if he did.

He wanted to possess her with his kiss.

*Ding!*

As soon as they heard the sound, the two separated and acted like nothing happened though they were panting and there were smudges of her lipstick on his lips.

Zarah hurriedly reached out to wipe it with her thumb while she covered her mouth with her palm.

Zarah thought of heading to the restroom first before going to the office.

Xavier smiled and Zarah pushed him away.

Zarah was glad that there were six seconds between the bell sound and the opening of the door.

This quick time was enough to calm her heart and her emotions a little bit after that fiery kiss. She lost control because of that kiss.

She didn't want to admit it but she felt like she was going to lose her v-card in the wrong place.

"I'll wait for you in the office," Xavier said meaningfully and walked out when the door opened.

'What office? No way!'

Zarah ran to the restroom and locked it as soon as she saw that she was alone.

She didn't want others to see her embarrassing state.

She hurriedly fixed herself and came out when she was done.

When she entered the EA office she was surprised to see her table missing.

She saw Elliott on his table and so she could not help but ask, "E? Where's my table?"

"Oh! I haven't informed you that starting today, you'll be doing your task inside the CEO's office."

"What?!"

"It's Chairman Lockhart's orders."

No wonder Xavier said that earlier. Zarah didn't know whether she should laugh or cry about this.

However, what Elliott said next made Zarah's face turn red.

"Make sure you lock the door when you both will do 'couple things'. You don't want us to accidentally barge in the door and witness it, do you?"

"I hate you, E!" She said while storming out of the office.

Elliott didn't take it to heart as he knew she didn't mean it.

"You're welcome, Zarah!" Elliott giggled afterward as he remembered how cute Zarah's reaction was.
