A Single Swing

It took Leon and his tem more than 3 days to reach their targeted place. All around was a light snowfall mountain covered with snow.

"Now where could this Elvin be hidding himself?" Leon said, changing his eyes in all directions.

Wearing usual clothes like they were not cold by the weather except for Thomas who happens to be shivering with cold. Crossing his arms over and teeth rapidly colliding against each other.

"Why, why da–did we, we not bring warm clothes and what's wi–th this–this weather", a shaking voice he had while speaking.

Unable to control his body shaking from the cold, it was a regret for him to come along but a new experience. He never came out of his village which made him inexperienced over new stuff.

Viewing his state, Leon questions. "What's wrong Thomas weren't you the one who said I can face anything on the way?"

"Looking at you now makes me think that I made the wrong choice taking you with me"

Hearing such a mock from Leon made Thomas change from shivering to standing straight and walking perfectly as to feeling no cold.

It was just an act in front, but inside he was suffering yet he now had to endure to make Leon take his mocking words back.

"Who said I'm cold? Can't you see how perfectly I'm walking my legs were just tired from walking for so long"

Joseph along with Kathel smiled at Thomas for his tough act in front of Leon. The smile turned into a grave look in a matter of second.

Their heads shifted up on to the sky, feeling the vicious energy of something, however , there to be nothing seen in the sky.

"Was it my imagination?" Joseph said, wondering about the energy he felt.

"No, it wasn't your imagination but a real vigorous energy of something" Leon said, staring at the sky.

Eyes on Leon, Joseph spoke, "are you suggesting it might be a dragon?".

To which Leon spoke back, "yes, but not just a dragon rather a powerful dragon which is able to hide it's appearance from us entirely"

Leon's focus at the sky was getting deeper and deeper the longer the stare the longer the focus grew.

Slowly lifting his arm to the sky, at first none understood what action Leon was about to take after glaring at the sky for a certain period of time.

His hand was wide open, leading to a new discovery after what he was about to do.

Palm of his hand glowed and sparkling burst out. These small tiny lights shape themselves into hard crystals with sharp tips.

No-one has caught up to Leon's understanding nor they continue to figure it out, since their master had done the job they were not required to proceed further.

Forming a fist and clenching it tight made the newly formed shaped crystals made of sparkling glow propelled at the sky.

Their speed was incredible, not taking them more than 3 seconds to reach a certain level of height. That was all they could go before colliding with a barrier set by Elvin. All the crystals were shattered into much smaller pieces.

"As expected from a ruler, he cast a barrier to keep him and his dragons distanced from outsiders. Haven't changed a single bit"

"Master, what should we do now?" Joseph asked. Jack suggested, "it's a powerful barrier, why not I break it for you?"

Jack was mysterious who hasn't displayed any feat, an opportunity like this can show what jack is capable of.

"sure" nothing more than allowing the mysterious reaper jack to exhibit his power.

Joseph, Kathel and Thomas were interested inside to see what jack will do, Joseph and kathel stayed with reaper jack for more than 200 years although they never saw jack in real action.

There were no circumstances given to Jack where he would have shown his real strength. It was now the time.

Clenching onto the handle of his sword which was hanging on his back. once in his hand completely, Jack was ready to annihilate the barrier.

Inhaled and exhaled smoke comes out of his metal made mask his eyes were already shivery to look at.

Lifting the sword up as its edge was facing the sky, Jack moved it Further back. "Ham!" Swing the sword in a straightforward way.

At first nothing happened, everyone was bewildered by the empty swing of jack.

"What's he doing, wasn't he supposed to break the barrier?" Thomas asked

A cracked sound rang in the ears of everyone present on the scene. Quick turn of their eyes at the sky seeing multiple cracks appeared.

"Unbelievable, he was able to make that many cracks in a barrier cast by the dragon ruler," an amazed Kathel said.

Thomas said, "Not to mention with a single swing and look at how far we are from the sky. How did he do that?"

Cracks weren't paused, they continued to grow more and more and at last shattered like glass in addition vanished in the mid-air.

Stunned by the power of jack, Joseph gazes at jack with a stirring look. He said in his mind.

I would have never guessed in a million ways that I'm still far behind you. For the past 10 years I thought I had surpassed you but looking at how easily you destroyed that barrier makes me rethink what I believed until now.

"You did a great job jack, it's time to move forward, can't waste more time standing here for nothing" Leon stated.

"As you wish" Jack replied, putting back his sword in its original place.

Steps continued, during their journey to Elvin, Kathel kept on noticing again and again watching Thomas shaking uncontrollably due to cold. Taking pity on him she used a spell with her staff.

The orb on the staff lit up, above it blue liquid formed. Directing the staff at Thomas the liquid moved while levitating in the air attached itself to Thomas.

Thomas panicked and said, "Aa!! What's this?" to calm him down, Kathel assured him and said. "Calm down its for your own good"

The attached liquid moulded itself similar to winter clothes. Abruptly he no longer experienced any cold but warmness.

"Ohhhh, is that magic?!" Feeling excited by the magic and its effects made Thomas question kathel.

"Yes, it's magic. Now stop talking and walk only" coldly she told him.

With such a cold voice, Thomas was shut in an insistence not because of Kathel's cold voice rather what he saw in his view.

"There are so many!!" Thomas shouted in a frightened look.

What he saw were a large pack of dragons flying in the air and heading towards them.

"Old master, are we gonna face them all?" Thomas asked hoping for a no as an answer.

Leon didn't respond but just gave him a polite smile indicating yes.

We are doomed!!! Thomas said with a wish not to die.
