Protect Mommy

Derek scampered into the kitchen.

A man stepped out of the shadow in the corner and asked, "Derek, can I leave now?"

"No!"

Derek shot a glare at the man, then peeked in the dining room through the half-closed door. He lowered his voice and whispered,

"You need to wash the dishes later. Just hide here for a little longer."

Simon pursed his lips in frustration. He was supposed to be a simple bodyguard. However, ever since he was assigned to Derek, he was forced to learn alI kinds of tricks.

Most importantly, he spent hours making all the food, and Derek wouldn't even let him have a bite. How pathetic could he be!

"Simon, hide here and be quiet. Don't let my mommy find out about you. Otherwise, I will ask Daddy to reassign you to the worst place!"

Derek threatened Simon in a tender voice. Then, he went back to the dining room with two plates in his hands. He turned back into a sweet and docile little boy once he walked into Winona's sight.

Winona and Derek enjoyed dinner together.

Derek was as sweet as pie. "Mommy, have some more pork belly. You're too skinny."

Halfway through dinner, Winona turned to Derek and asked, "I tried to make braised pork belly before, but l just couldn't get it right. Would you be willing to share your recipe with me?"

Derek's heart tightened. He had no idea how to cook. Nevertheless, he squeezed a smile and said, "Mommy, you don't need to worry about cooking. Cooking is messy and tiring. It's better to spend more time enjoying yourself outside the kitchen. I will take care of you!"

Holy Moly!

Winona's heart almost melted.

"Mommy, you should do a facial after dinner. I will wash the dishes!"

Winona gently squeezed Derek's chubby cheeks and said, "You cooked dinner, so I should do the dishes. We need to be fair."

"No, Mommy. Washing dishes will ruin your hands. I'm a man. I don't mind having rough hands!" Derek insisted. "I finally found you, Mommy. All l ever want is to help you where l can. Can you please let me do it?"

Derek blinked his dark Bambi eyes.

Winona couldn't resist his charm. "Alright. Be careful when you wash them."

Winona rested on the couch after dinner. The sound of water running in the kitchen made her let out a sigh.

It was hard to imagine that one of the best nights in her entire life was spent with a boy she knew for less than a day. The boy lit up her world like nobody else.

Nevertheless --

Winona's mood plummeted once she remembered that she had to sleep with Sean the next day.

Sean was an infamous philanderer in Hetropolis who fooled around with God knows how many women. Winona was sure that he had coerced some of them into having sex with him.

Even so, there were still plenty of women who were willing to sleep with him for his money.

Winona usually stayed far away from playboys like Sean. Yet now she had to offer her body to him just for a five-million-dollar investment.

That being said, since Cora only cared about the investment, Winona wondered if she would be willing to cut her loose once she received the funds.

"Mommy, the dishes are done!" Derek skipped out of the kitchen.

Winona noticed that his sleeves were dry. It seemed that he was rather experienced in doing dishes.

Winona said in a gentle voice, "Let's go. I'll give you a bath. But I don't have children's clothes here. Would you be willing to wear my shirt as your pajama?"

"Great!" Derek was more than happy.

Winona's apartment had two bedrooms. After bathing Derek, she carried him to the bed in the guest bedroom.

Winona sat by his bedside and told him a story she read when she was a child. The boy fell asleep before she even finished the story.

Winona tiptoed out of the room and quietly closed the door.

As soon as the door was closed, the boy in bed opened his eyes.

"Simon, did you see?! Mommy gave me a bath and told me a story. I'm the happiest boy in the world!"

Derek jumped on the bed, overjoyed.

"I'm even wearing Mommy's shirt. It smells so nice, just like Mommy. I will never take it off! My brothers would be so jealous if they knew about this. Haha!"

Simon replied with a blank face, "Derek, you would be in big trouble if Mr. Shaw learned about this."

"Don't try to scare me! I'm not afraid of him!" Derek crossed his arms over his chest and puckered up his tiny face.

"You're going to clean the room after Mommy falls asleep. It needs to be spotless!"

Simon was at a loss for words.

He was a bodyguard, not a cleaning lady!
