The dusk of the final day-11

•Roy's POV•

It was already noon when I started heading back, I was still slightly pissed. I could deal with, but that male really got on my nerves.

It made me feel like I was just pushed to the side, even though me and Maria aren't even mates.

My ears have stayed pinned all day, I ran my hands through my hair and clicked my tongue.

I came up into my yard the smell of that bear was everywhere, I felt a low growl come up in my throat but I shook my head.

I opened the door to see the bear sleeping at the edge of Maria's nest.

I clenched my fist, I could just… End him here while he sleeps. I thought to myself glaring at the sleeping bear.

I slowly approached, my footsteps barely making a sound as I did so.

I got up to the side of him, I felt my claws dig into my skin.

Maria rolled over as she slept, I flinched slightly seeing her face…

•Maria's POV•

I don't know what made me wake up but I felt like something was off.

I opened my eyes slowly and looked around from the warmth of my cozy little arrangement I had.

Roy's sleeping figure sat against the wall next to the pots…

I wondered when he got back, Will slept at the end my feet.

I sat up, my movement caused Will to stir.

"What's wrong?" I hear a very sleepy voice grumble as Will shifted his form.

"Sorry! I didn't mean to wake you." I whispered softly, Will very much looked still half asleep.

It was dark but I could see the silhouette of messy hair on top of his head.

"Mmm." He grumbled crawling more towards the side of the nest.

When he got to the wall he laid back down and curled up.

"Good…night…" he mumbled, I sighed and took one of the larger pelts on my bed and laid it over him.

Seeing he was still in the clothes from the creek, I shook my head and smiled.

(He could have gone home and changed.)

I laid back down and watched his sleeping figure for a bit thinking back on what had happened.

There…there was no way I died right?

Even if I had there has to be a way back to my world. But the question was if I did get to go back would I still be Maria?

I remember the pain after he hit me and how my vision tunneled, was that a world really worth the trouble to go back.

It wasn't like I had anyone waiting on me.

I had no parents growing up, I just went from orphanage to orphanage, and a occasional foster home.

I was a rebellious child but after a while I mellowed out, but I had already gotten out of the adoption services by that time…

I sighed in wearily, sleep once again grasped at me but I could seem to actually go to bed.

This world had its pros and cons, but I really didn't know about living in it.

The withdrawals were getting better, but the world was too primal. I didn't know anything about wilderness, I've only watched a couple of survival shows.

I knew a thing or two about horses but that was it, everything was so insane in this world.

Females had more than one spouse, and if I were to actually ever settle down I didn't know if I could deal with more than one man.

I didn't know when I fell asleep the flash thing I remember was Will's sleeping face.

I wasn't the first up this morning, Roy was packing up some of the things in his house which confused me.

"Good morning…" I said sitting up and rubbing my eyes, Roy gave a side glance at me before continuing with what he was doing.

"Morning." He said plainly, I still felt like there was still tension in the air around him but I wasn't really sure.

"We will leave for the Deer tribe mid day, so say your goodbyes to any friends you made in the village while you can." Roy said grabbing stuff out of one of the pots.

I nodded and looked towards Will, he still slept peacefully.

I got out of the bed carefully not to make much noise.

"I'll be right back." I said, walking out of the door. I felt Roy's eyes on my back, before I put the wood back on the door.

•Roy's POV•

I watched her leave the house, I wanted to follow her but I had other matters to attend to.

I grabbed her pelts and stuffed them in the bag which was only partially filled.

I glared at Will, he slept soundly unbothered by the world around him.

I didn't like how he constantly stuck to Maria's side like a lost puppy. Looking at her with those eyes, I clicked my tongue and snatched the pelt off of him and shoved it in the bag.

I looked back at the door, Maria wasn't here… My ears pinned back as I glared down, even though I had snatched the pelt off of him he still slept.

•Maria's POV•

I walked through the village looking for Pep, most of the males watched me in interest.

The females just took a glance and went back to there business.

I found Pep outside of one of the homes she was dusting out a pelt, one of her males watched her do so from the shade of a near by tree.

I noticed a new bracelet hung on her wrist.

She had already had a few before that but this one looked unique to say the least.

"Pep!" I called, she looked up and gave a huge smile and waved.

I jogged up to her and she gave me a small hug.

"How are you feeling?" She chirped grasping my hands looking at my wrist.

"You haven't accepted my son as a mate yet?" She said sadly putting down my wrist.

"Huh? How could you tell?" I said looking at my wrist trying to see how she could tell.

I saw nothing my wrist looked quite normal to me.

"Girl! You don't know? When you accept a male you get a gold chain that appears on your wrists." She said exaggerating by jiggling her bracelet that hung from her wrist.

That meant she had recently accepted a mate. It made sense now, I felt something brush by my leg and saw one of Peps cubs looking up at me.

"My son told me that he will be going with you to that Deer tribe."

"Huh? Oh yeah, he had said he wanted too." I said looking up from the cubs with a smile.

"You know, he thinks of you highly." She commented picking up the cub, it laid limply enjoying the attention.

"What is that suppose to mean?" I said in confusion, to which she cheekily grin at me.

"It means he likes you." She wiggled her eyebrows.

My heart skipped a beat, I felt like I couldn't breath. I coughed inwardly, and waved my hands in dismissal.

"We've only know each-other a couple days!"

She looked at me gently, and cuddled her baby.

"Sometimes, that is all it takes."

We talked for a long while after that, we said our goodbyes and I left for Roy's house.

On the way to the trail a bear male stopped me.

"Your Maria right?" He asked with a smile.

"Uh yeah I am."

He put his hand on his chest and introduced himself.

"I'm Landon, it's nice to finally get to talk to you. I've seen you around a couple times and thought that you were gorgeous." He said walking a bit to close.

"Um well, thanks?" I said taking some steps back this guy was giving me creeps.

"Oh your definitely welcome. You have no males yes?" He didn't take the hint of me backing away as I didn't want him near me. He got in my space again.

"No, I don't. Can you b-back up your making me nervous." I said not wanting to show any more fear than I had, I stood my ground but I couldn't meet his eyes…

"Why is that? You've never been near a male before." He closeted his face to mine, I took a huge step back.

"I am not interested please stop."

I waved my hands in dismissal, he again advanced.

"And why is that sweetheart, I can treat you better than that Lion and Bear you have twirling around your fing-" all of a sudden a fist makes contact with the side of the males face.

The male stumbled a way back, Will stood in-front of me.

"She said she isn't interested, back off." He spat aggressively, a low growl rumbling in his chest.

The male held his cheek which was now red from irritation.

He stood up straight a clicked his tongue.

"What? You think you have a chance with her?" He said with venom, he was just a smidge taller than Will. Will though was more muscular than the other male.

"Oh I know I don't, but I will not allow you to hassle her after she told you no." He growled, the male clicked his tongue.

"So be it then."

Will glared daggers into the males back as he left.

When he was out of sight Will turned towards me and looked me up and down.

"You okay?" He said worry in his eyes.

I looked up at him in slight shock, of all people I didn't think he would punch someone.

My heart fluttered, Peps words echoed in my mind. He couldn't have feelings for me, right? 'Sometimes, that's all it takes.' His mothers words echo in my mind.

I slap my cheeks as hard as I could trying to stop that thinking.

"Hey!?! Don't do that!" Will grabbed my hands off my face firmly.

"What are you even doing!" I looked up at him again my face felt hot, which might have been from my slap.

"I- I'm okay!" I said with a awkward smile.

"Why did you slap yourself?" He asked in genuine concern, letting my hands go free.

"D- Don't worry about it!" I squeaked, waving my hands.
