Chapter 12: Damned

A door opens as Melody was thrust into her bedroom by her father. He stormed in and looked angrily at her.

"What is this? What were you thinking?! My own daughter!," Her father yelled.

"D-dad...I'm sorry...," Melody said with her head down.

"Oh, don't give me that bullshit! You knew exactly what you were doing, didn't you! My reputation... it's all ruined now because of you. They now know that their guide is a sinners household!!!!," her father screamed as he clenched his fist.

He gritted his teeth and slammed his fist on the nightstand.

"You are not my daughter!," he said. "My daughter is respectful and wont follow the creator of darkness and dispare!"

"D...dad...," Melody said with tears forming in her eyes.

She trembled in fear as her father stood over her.

"You are damned, girl. Damned!! You have doomed this family to be damned to the void...or worse...Hell," her father yelled. "What would your mother think?"

Melody paused for a second. She let him talk, back and forth and back and forth. This feeling in her stomach grew. She stood and yelled: "WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?! WHERE IS MOM?! SHE IS NOT IN OUR LIFE!!!"

Her father stopped and stepped back ever so slightly.

"Do you think I want to be in my mom's shadow? Yeah, she is gone, I know she is gone! Maybe she should have raised me except for an asshole like you!!," Melody said.

Her father gave her a stern look and gripped her room door.

"You are no daughter of mine," her father said as he slammed the door shut.

"Uuuuuuggghhhh," Melody said pulling at her hair. "Why can't I just be who I am!!!! Why do I have to hide this...this stupid thing behind a mask. Why can't I just be normal!!!!"

Tears streamed down her face as she looked in the mirror. The mascara running down her face. She seemed to rip her dress off her body. She took out her hairpins and chucked them across the room until they crashed onto a wall. She gazed at herself in the mirror.

"Why is it so hard to be me! Why?! Why can't I be like Nikki!," Melody shouted in the mirror. "I hate everything about myself...and I even hate my stupid ugly face,"

The glass shattered with one slug at it. The glass cut her fist. She pulled back her fist in pain and quickly tried to get all the glass out of her hand. She then stopped and looked over at herself in the shattered mirror.

"I hate my name...,"she said to herself.

She gazed up at her book shelf and plucked a book off the shelf.

The title read:

'The Story of the Forgotten'

She sighed and looked out the window and opened it. Melody climbed out her bedroom window onto the roof. She said don't the roof until she got to the edge and used ice magic to keep her in place. She wanted to keep this quiet and discrete. If her father, or whom used to be her father finds out, she would have been in worse trouble. She warmed up the ice ever so slightly to where it slipped along the roof. She froze it on the edge, let go, and dropped to the ground below. Melody hit the ground with a thud. After she touched down, she started to run as fast as she could. It didnt matter where she will go, it doesn't matter what she will do. Just so long as she is safe. Safe from him, safe from them. She never asked for this life, thus she won't live it. She is finally free and she will stop at nothing to make something of herself.
