Chapter 2: “What’s up pops?”

From the bedroom, they walked down a hallway.

"This looks like a pretty big mansion." Vlad thought as they walked down the hallway, reaching a huge door.

"Grandmaster, the Young master is here." Zelda announced.

"Enter." A voice from inside said, and the door opened. They both entered the dark room, which seemed like a study with different books and ancient looking artifacts around.

Zelda bowed, greeting the Grandmaster, Dracula. She stood aside at the entrance.

Dracula was sitting in front of the desk with the chair faced towards the shut windows covered with black curtains.

Silence filled the room. "This is so awkward, what the hell do I say?" Vlad panicked.

"Hey… What's up pops?" Vlad blurted out without thinking. "Oh shit."

A silhouette of a man appeared standing up from the chair. The man was tall and his intimidating aura filled the room. Vlad gulped.

He clapped and candles lit, lighting up the room. The man turned to face them. He had a look that could send you to the pits of hell but one thing Vlad couldn't deny was that this boy and this body was truely from this man, Dracula. They had similar features, they were dangerously good looking.

"What did you just say?" Dracula said. His voice deep and dark as the ocean.

"You go around causing trouble for me! Only to wake up and act like a brat!" Dracula yelled. Vlad took a step back in fear.

"You're such a disgrace." Dracula sighs.

Although Vlad was fully aware that those words weren't meant for him, it still stung.

"No one deserves to be called a disgrace.." Vlad mumbled. "What did you say?" Dracula turned, his gaze could pierce a hole in Vlad if it could but Vlad knew he needed to speak up.

"No one deserves to be called a disgrace! And you shouldn't call anyone a disgrace, especially not your son!" Vlad mustered the courage to speak up.

"Since you can run your mouth that means you're completely fine. You will leave for Hourglass high right this instant." He said furiously.

"Hold up, what did I just get myself into. This is what happens when you try to be the cool guy." Vlad panicked.

"Hourglass high? What's that?" Vlad asked, confused. "Enough fooling around." He turned to Zelda. "Get him ready." He ordered. "Yes Grandmaster."

"And you." He turned to Vlad. "Make sure you stay there this time." He commanded in a threatening tone. Vlad gulped as he realized he had just dug his own grave.

"Wait-" before Vlad could say a word, Dracula vanished in a black smoky veil.

Vlad turned back and rushed to Zelda. "What is Hourglass high? It sounded like a mental hospital where they count down till you finally lose your sanity." Vlad panicked, sweat dripping from his forehead.

Zelda chuckled. "Hourglass high, a school housing different creatures in the land. Vampires, fairies, witches, demons and a whole lot more." She explained.

"That still sounds like bad news." Vlad was deep in thought. Contemplating on what to do next.

"I need to go back home before things get crazier here. But how? Something must have brought me here, some kind of magic or something." Vlad's thoughts were all over the place.

"Zelda, you mentioned something about me finally waking up when I got here and you seemed awfully worried. Did something happen to Vlad?" Vlad asked Zelda.

"It was the incident, Young master. I don't know the details but it seemed you and your peers had a fight over a magical item and you ended up getting hurt. You were in a coma for four days." Zelda responded by telling her what she knew.

"This magic item, what is it?" Zelda frowned at Vlad's question. He noticed and quickly laughed it off.

"I guess I'll have to gather information in the school instead. I don't think Zelda is willing to tell me the full details." Vlad decided.

"We must be on our way now, Young master. You will be heading to the school dorm today as the Grandmaster commands." Zelda said as they exited the study.

Vlad followed behind. "Isn't this a little too fast? I just woke up yesterday." Vlad trembled.

"Of course not, Young master. You are a vampire, and not just any vampire, you are from the most powerful bloodline of vampires in the entire land. A mere magical item is nothing." Zelda said. In her voice Vlad could feel the pride in which Zelda has in his family.

Vlad paused. Zelda looked behind to see why he stopped. "Doesn't it bother you that I'm not the real Vlad. I'm just some random person in his body." Vlad said with his head down.

"You are Vlad and Vlad is you. You wouldn't be in his body if you didn't belong there. And your memories will be back before you know it." Zelda insisted.

Vlad sighs. "There's no getting through this lady." They head back to his room.

"School huh…" Vlad sighs as he looks through the room. There was nothing interesting or fascination there he would want to take along with him. As he walked around he stepped on a shiny looking key. He bends down to grab it when his eyes catch a little box under the bed.

He reaches out and grabs it. It looked like an ancient box with a red ruby on top of it which looked like the opening.

"How do I open this?" He asked himself. There was no keyhole so the key wasn't even an option.

As he was looking thoroughly at the box, he heard Zelda's voice. "Young master." She called from the hallway as she had gone out to grab something.

Vlad quickly hides the box and key deep inside a bag sitting next to the bed.

Zelda comes in to see a nervous Vlad who tried to look as natural as possible. "Is there something wrong, Young master?" She asked.

"Nope, nothing at all. What is that?" He quickly changed the topic signaling to the small sparkling bottle in Zelda's hands.

"This is a potion I made. It should help you regain your memories. Make sure to take it every day." She handed the bottle over to him.

"Thank you." Vlad said.

After a few hours of packing, it was finally time for Vlad to leave for Hourglass high. His palms were sweaty and his heart was racing as they stepped out of the mansion.

It was a very old mansion. The typical deserted castle at the top of the mountain with scary crows and dark clouds above you'd see in movies. "It's even creepier outside." Shivers send down Vlad's spine. There was a black car waiting in front.

"This is where we part ways, Young master." Zelda bowed. "Huh? You're not coming along?" Vlad asked.

"If I leave there will be no one to watch the mansion." She said politely as she handed Vlad a black envelope. "Here."

"What is this?" Vlad asked.

"It's an unlimited credit card and some other things you might need,Young master." She answered.

"You have a credit card in this world? Sick!" Vlad exclaimed happily. Zelda chuckled at his reaction.

"You will be dropped off right in front of your new dorm so do not worry. Take care, Young master." They said their goodbyes and Vlad entered the car.

The mansion was located deep inside the wood. By the time they got to the main city Vlad couldn't believe his eyes.

"It's almost like a human word." Vlad thought to himself as he looked around the city. There were cars and stores but the people around didn't look quite human. For a second, Vlad thought he was back to the human world.

They drove for about thirty more minutes before reaching the school gate. It looked like a pretty big school and furthermore, it looked old.

Vlad was dropped off in front of his dorm. He walked in with his luggage and headed to the reception.

"Good day, you must be Vlad Dracula. Welcome to Ruby hall." A red lady with horns spoke with a soft smile. She handed Vlad a key. "Here is the key to your room."

"Thank you." Vlad said as he couldn't believe what he was seeing. "I can't get used to this." He sighed.

He collected the key and went on to locate his room.

"Room seventy seven, found it." Vlad said when he got in front of a door with the number seventy seven on it corresponding with the key he was given.

He entered inside. "I guess I have a roommate." He said as the room was split into two sections for two people.

"I wonder what type of creature they are." Vlad wondered but there was no sign of anyone in the room presently.

"Oh that's right!" Vlad exclaimed as he brought out the black envelope Zelda gave him.

"I should take a look around first." Vlad said excitedly.
