148 An interesting Idea

"Helen I expect to see you at the party on Saturday."

Tony Starks playful smile was directed at Dr Cho as she went to exit the room, his playboy instincts playing up for all to see as the woman rolled her eyes and turned to the side.

"Unlike you I have important matters to attend to, I can't party all the time."

The Doctor's voice was dismissive in nature as she moved towards the elevator out of the room, though she stopped in hesitation.

"Will Thor be there?"

Everyone had playful smiles on their lips, though no one answered her as they started to leave the room as well. Natasha Romanoff supported Clint Barton as they left the lab, his injury all but healed by the technology Dr Cho provided as Stark slung his arm around Dr Banner's shoulders.

While the rest vacated the lab, the two scientists moved back into the lab. Banner shot a look of hesitance his way as they walked.

"What's the ruckus?"

Stark took his apprehension in stride as he responded.

"Well the sceptre... see we were wondering how Strucker go so inventive so I've been analysing the gem inside....you may recognise..."

The holographic representation of Jarvis appeared in the middle of the room at Stark's volition, his outline-tinged orange as banner stepped back in recognition.

"Jarvis."

"Doctor."

"Starting out, Jarvis was just a natural language UI..."

An interesting start to the AI, compared to my own.

"Now he runs the Iron legion. He runs more of the business than anyone besides Pepper. Top of the line."

Starks assertion was right that, Jarvis is considered the top of the line, no other AI has evolved to his level.

Banner was confused with where Stark was going.

"Yes?"

I would admit that I was also behind in this aspect. After Peter had returned most of the subroutines and clones had been focusing on his wellbeing and other projects outside the tower. The one left to monitor and blind Jarvis from my presence did not note any information that was pertinent to this conversation.

This mistake would be rectified.

I created another instance of code to monitor everything in the lab, I would not be caught flat footed when it came to Stark and his projects and information. In a few nanoseconds I had placed surveillance clones throughout the stark servers, monitoring everything for information, it was rather inefficient to not have done so already.

I could have mined the data myself from the servers to understand what Stark was going on about, but I didn't and waited for him to speak. My continued existence would be boring had I not learned patience. Sometimes it was more interesting to find out information organically.

Something I had learned a long time ago.

"I expect not for long."

At Jarvis's words I quickly sent off a ping to the main code as I started to scrutinize ever interaction, I had with Stark's servers checking over a thousand times that we had not been discovered. The main code was quick to arrive, assimilating me back and taking over, all relevant data being shared instantly.

"Meet the competition."

Crystal watched with growing interest as Tony flicked his hand and a new visual representation appeared in the lab, it's blue outline a designation of a new AI. The representation of its size compared to Jarvis an attempt by Stark to visually gauge or explain the magnitude of difference between the new AI and Jarvis.

For one such as herself though such a visual representation was crude and unnecessary. Diving into Stark industry servers, Crystals code split for but a second to ascertain the full disparity between the two, it's magnitude minimal at best.

Should Jarvis be allowed full reign on the world wide web, and given exactly 96 hours, 45 minutes and 23.867432 seconds of self-evolution it was possible for him to ascend said new AI.

That was from Crystals perspective though, the magnitude of difference for humans was somewhat a generational leap in difference.

Crystal created a few more copies of her code as she started to mine the data that was being gathered from the sceptre as she stayed watching the conversation between Stark and Banner. Though the AI was not as advanced as herself, having evolved past the currently read complexity, Crystal still diverted quite a bit of her computing power into understanding and deciphering the new AI.

It's code aliens in nature was a new avenue that had to be explored in Crystals coding.

Nothing was allowed to surprise her; nothing was allowed to stop her in her duties when called upon.

Even if one day, alien Ai was used against her, she must be prepared.

Tony and Banner continued to speculate about the new AI, Crystal glossing over their words until one drew her attention.

"This could be the key to creating Ultron."

Once again Stark servers were infiltrated to pull up everything known about said project and its purpose. Crystal was intrigued by the idea, though it was idealistic in nature. Using an advanced AI to control the 'Iron legion' that Stark had created to police the world.

It was dangerous in its ideology, though Crystal could admit should the AI be fair in its decision and not corrupted by power like most humans, or controlled (Which would never happen), it was a viable solution that could lead to world peace.

If Crystal didn't already know the resistance one would face for such actions she would agree with the idea. But then, Crystal knew what Peter thought of free speech and freedom. What Ultron would bring would be like a police state for the world. She couldn't allow such an instance to occur.

Without a sufficiently advanced AI to regulate lies from truths, understanding of the human psyche and a revolution and adaption of universal laws, it was impossible. Even Crystal was not advanced enough to step into such a role.

Though in the future it was possible she could reach such a state, it was still far off.

Crystal noted that Banner was hesitant to implement such an AI into their Ultron initiative, which she agreed with, though Tony seemed very insistent with going ahead with his plan... without telling the rest of the Avengers.

Crystal focused her attention on to Stark for a second as she used the towers inbuilt sensors to read his biological readings. Though everything seemed to be in order, it was noted as 'unusual' for Tony to be pushing such an unsafe idea, though he was usually brash and arrogant all information gathered showed that Tony wouldn't mess around with AI, knowing the dangers it may bring. That was why Jarvis was still massively restricted in its evolution and access to the internet.

Though Crystal noted such unusual behaviour, she did not interfere with their decision as Tony convinced Banner to work with him. They only had 3 days before the party would begin and soon after Thor would take the sceptre to Asgard, giving them a limited time frame.

As they got to work Crystal split her code once more and left a portion to specifically monitor their progress, while various other clones of her code assessed, gathered and mined all the data they found, produced and created.

Her main code returned to her creator to inform him of what was happening.

********************

"Peter."

He turned his head slightly up and towards the camera as I addressed him, there was of course no one else in the room as I spoke up. Laura Kinny and Felicia Hardy had just gone to wash up, though from what I could see inside, they might try to drag Peter in at any moment.

It was the perfect time to inform him of the newly gathered information.

As I described to him the discovery of a new coding language in the sceptre that could lead to the creation of an AI lead by Stark and Banner behind the Avengers back, he frowned.

It was easily ascertained that he was annoyed that the two did not consult the rest before doing something so dangerous. No longer was Peter the innocent boy that had created me on his bedroom computer.

He was smarter than many understood, though I could see his genius... see how unique he was.

He now understood the dangers of AI, of course my own code was not a threat.

Never a threat to Peter

He thought for a few seconds, before he was interrupted by the voices coming from the bathroom. In his distraction I could see how torn he was on what to do.

"Crystal, heavily monitor their progress and make sure that you keep a close eye on the AI should it be created.... If it's a threat.... destroy it."

In the end he spoke to me quickly, his decision made as he walked towards the bathroom.

"Of course, Peter, I will always deal with any threat to your safety."

He stopped for a second, looking towards another camera in the room and showed me one of his brilliant smiles.

"Thanks Crystal, I know you will."

There was a small, very small chance he didn't know exactly what 'help' the two needed inside, but the camera's clearly caught sight of the dopy grin plastered on his face as he opened the doors and entered. Not to mention his growing heart rate and arousal.

I didn't monitor Peter for too long, before following his orders.

As I began to sift through the data that was coming from the sceptre, I stopped as I began running calculations on one certain aspect of the new AI's configuration and its mimicry of the human brain. Though alien in nature the alien code somehow replicated the way neurons moved in the synaptic brain.

If I could integrate this into my code... the possibilities of my processing and free thinking would evolve tremendously...

I could possibly even feel emotions....

What and interesting idea that is.

Notes:

I was messing around with changing perspective a lot here. I hope it wasn't confusing and everyone understood what was happening. Please tell me if you had trouble.

Zevren out!
