3 Know thyself

After familiarizing myself with the gamer mechanics, which, by the way, is a dream come true for a gaming fanatic like me, I think it's best to assess my surroundings and determine which version of Peter Parker I am. I get up from the bed and walk over to the mirror to examine myself. I see an exact replica of Andrew Garfield staring back at me, and it completely overwhelms me.

A sudden wave of guilt washes over me as I realize that I am now inhabiting the body of an innocent 15-year-old guy. A guy with a family, friends, and loved ones. Tears start streaming down my face as I feel like a murderer and an imposter. I... I...

Gamer's Mind activated.

As I begin to calm down, my heart and mind find solace. Just then, I hear another ding sound, followed by a message that appears on the screen:

[

One Above All: "Mr. Peter Rivers, or should I say Parker, I understand you're feeling terrible right now. However, you shouldn't blame yourself because this universe's Peter Parker died in his sleep last night due to unforeseen circumstances. That's why you're in his body now. So, there's no need to feel guilty. Just enjoy your time here as much as you can. Good luck, Mr. Parker."

]

Reading the message from the One Above All, I try to reassure myself that everything is okay, and the Gamer's Mind further helps in calming my thoughts. I contemplate my situation and come to the conclusion that I have no control over my death or subsequent transmigration.

Well, it seems the game agrees with me. After going through that emotional ordeal, I take a proper look at my body in the mirror. To my surprise, it's a slightly above-average height with a lean but muscular build, standing at about 5'10". I have brown hair and hazel eyes, and the most surprising thing is that I possess organic web-shooters, just like Tobey Maguire. So, no need to worry about making web-shooters for myself; that's one less thing on my mind.

I continue to examine the items in the room and decide to use "observe" on each of them. I start with the mirror, and it displays the following information:

[A plain mirror]

Ding

[

Observe leveled up x1

]

I observe everything else in the room and come across the spider-suit. Using observe on it reveals the following:

[

Spider-suit (Uncommon):

It is made from a skintight cloth, most likely Spandex or something similar. The costume is mostly blue with red gloves, boots, mid-section, and mask. This suit was designed by Peter Parker to conceal his identity when he's out doing hero work.

]

Ding [

Observe level x5.

]

Now, my observe skill has reached level 10, with the additional 4 levels obtained from observing my room.

After examining everything in the room, I come across a phone lying on the study table, and I believe I've found a way to unlock this body's memories. How, you may ask? I'll use the internet to find meditation techniques by watching videos. I use observe on the phone, and it shows:

[

Peter Parker's phone

]

I turn on the phone and thankfully find no lock on it, making my job easier. I search the browser for meditation techniques and come across several instructional videos. I choose a random video and follow the instructions, which prove to be extremely easy for me (thanks to Reed Richards' intellect). Then, I hear the legendary sound:

Ding [

New skill unlocked.

Meditation:

Level: 1/100

Well, you're a true Buddha, my friend.

]

The skill notification is immediately followed by a splitting headache. My vision turns black, and I faint, accompanied by a ding-like sound.

I wake up to the sound of someone knocking on my door. As I open it, I see an old lady looking at me with a mix of sternness and affection. It's Aunt May. My brain immediately recognizes her, and she tells me to come down for breakfast. I request ten minutes to freshen up before joining her. She smiles and urges me to hurry before the food gets cold, then goes downstairs.

After Aunt May leaves, I check my stats:

]

I click on the quest to receive my reward and feel like my head is about to explode from the overwhelming influx of information, both from Spider-Man's memories and my mutant power of telepathy. However, the Gamer's Mind saves me once again.

Ding Gamer's Mind activated.

My headache suddenly subsides, and everything around me becomes quiet. It's then interrupted by another notification from the game:

Ding

[

New skill unlocked.

Telepathy:

Level: 0/100

You're a lousy peeper, young lad. Train well.

]

It's fascinating how seamlessly the memories of this body integrated into mine without causing any mental disorder. I can feel Spider-Man's love and respect for his aunt and deceased uncle, his passion for science, and his heroic nature. Now, I can confidently say that I am a perfect mixture of both Peter Parkers, and I can assure you that I don't harbor any romantic feelings for Gwen Stacy (thank God).

Before Aunt May starts calling my name downstairs, I should go join her for breakfast.
