Baron Conrad

"Who might you be to act so casually with the lady here?"

The heavy voice attracted all the attention from the nearby crowd as they heard him. The new physique of this man was a towering 7 feet, and even with a beautifully crafted outfit, one could see his steel plate-like muscles leaning outside of the clothes.

But even with such intimidating looks, his presence was rather calm and bright. With some brownish beards and a moustache, he seemed like a person happy to go along with

But at the same time, those pairs of gray eyes seem to hide a whole tsunami inside them. With all the mix of storm and wavy spring, it was rather complicated to guess just what sort of man he is to ordinary people, but Kaer, on the other hand, seemed completely unfazed as he extended his hands with a greeting.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, gentleman. Respectfully, I'm Kaer, just a tiny acquaintance of Lisa's family."

As Kaer introduced himself, the man standing in front of him also nodded with an amused grin, and taking Kaer's hand gesture, he also replied.

"Pleasure, I'm Baron Conrad, the uncle of this lady here, and the big brother of her father."

As he introduced himself, Kaer calmly nodded, and with a bit of a formal gesture, he replied

"What a coincidence! Lisa had just been talking about you; you must be really close."

"Ah? Well indeed, she doesn't have many friends her age anyhow!"

"No! No need to mention that!"

Lisa directly interrupted her uncle, showing frustration in her face, seeing that the curiosity of Baron Conrad became even bigger as he questioned again.

"It seems like you both are quite close too. I didn't know Missy had such a good friend. May I ask how you have been in the capital? I would like to help when I can."

As Baron Conrad said, his eyes seem to show a slight suspicion towards Kaer. Seeing that look, Lisa immediately interjected.

"Haha! You worry too much, uncle! He is my fiance in makin--"

"I'm just a shop owner in the 14th district, on the outskirts of the capital residences; coincidentally, Miss Stevan was my first customer and a weekly regular, so I just had the opportunity to come to this party here. My life is rather normal, so I won't be troubling you unnecessarily."

Kaer's words caught a lot of attention; this time even the rich guests invited here became a bit interested seeing such smooth execution of details along with that cherry on top handsomeness.

"My~ did we have a noble guest like that?"

"I didn't notice until Baron Conrad went there; he does have a small presence."

"But it's still rare to see such a refined young man."

"Indeed, what a surprise..."

The guests seem to be getting more and more interested in Kaer, and Kaer obviously didn't seem to like that. Baron Conrad sensed the tension, and with a loud, assertive voice, he commented.

"Hahaha! Well, I guess it's lucky to be here. Let me visit your store some day! It will be fun seeing what made my brother's family so attracted to you! Then I won't disturb the two; carry on the conversation!"

As he said, he left, as in just a few seconds, a few of his subordinates in the crowd started to follow him in the other direction. As they left, Kaer scoffed at amusement as he commented.

"As expected, the head of the LED (Law Enforcement Department) isn't just some random man with nothing; are you sure you can handle working under him? He doesn't seem like a guy to show mercy to anyone."

"How do you think he managed to crawl up his position in this society? He is a strong guy!"

Kaer nodded, grabbing a juice glass from the servings, and replied

"Well indeed, that seems like it, but what was that about my fiance in making?"

"Are you still not going to accept my proposal?"

Lisa shouted back, but Kaer just smiled warmly, drinking all the juice at once like wine, and with a bright smile, he calmly replied.

"Fortunately not"

"What's so fortunate about it?"

Lisa scolded Kaer again, but suddenly, as tension was getting stronger, her father and the rest of her family, along with Luther, suddenly arrived behind them, and her father cheerfully greeted Kaer.

"Oh! You finally came! Man, it has been a whole year since we had a chess match! Are you free now?"

"Haha! Well, maybe just for half an hour."

"Great! Come! I will show you my skills today!"

Kaer was immediately dragged away; he came like a storm and just left in a flash. Lisa's frustration was written on her face, but her mother immediately consoled her.

"Oh, come on, young lady, understand his situation too; he is clearly not as young as he looks; sometimes I worry he is even older than me! It doesn't suit such an age gap!"

"Why!? Am I that immature? He doesn't like me! Am I really a kid in his eyes?"

Luther scoffed as he heard her, calmly passing Claire from his head to her mother. He just replied.

"Indeed, it seems like it. You remember the first thing you brought from the shop? A 'body-size male cartoon pillow'? Seriously, kids these days~"

*Bam!*

Lisa immediately punched Luther's shoulders in rage, but Luther just coldly sneered, and showing a teasy expression, he replied even more coldly.

"Hahaha! Keep trying, kiddo! As long as I'm here, no insect can touch me, sir! Hahaha!"

Luther laughed like the devil mocking Lisa and just left coldly. As he left, Lisa took deep breaths in frustration, with clear killing intent in her eyes.

"This damned devil bastard! He is really so annoying!"

"Well, it seems like it. Anyway, come rest, lady; young love is tough."

Before Lisa could cause any bigger commotion, she was immediately dragged away by her mother, while Kaer and Luther enjoyed several chess rounds for about half an hour.

Defeating all sorts of guests in the party with a break-less win streak turned all these confident nobles and elites into soul-sucking corpses lying around.

"Are you kidding me? You play so carelessly. Yet, how do you win every time?"

"It's just like a drunk guy dancing and winning every round of the match."

"You are really great! You should consider joining some elite clubs; I know a lot of them!"

"True! These skills are inhuman!"

All his opponents seemed to be incredibly impressed by Kaer's capabilities, while Kaer, on the other hand, just smiled and, taking back the suit in his hands, stood up and said his farewell.

"It was a long night, gentlemen. Unfortunately, I'm not yet suitable to be joining any clubs and such, but it was a fun night and a joyful celebration tonight. Now that my time is up, may you allow me to return to my home?"

Kaer said that and with a nod quietly left the party hall, as even till the last moment all attention was stuck over him because of his smooth composure and looks, and as he stepped out, both Kaer and Luther just vanished. The next second, Luther was seen landing quietly in front of the store with a raven on his shoulders and blue celestial eyes similar to Kaer, while Kaer, on the other hand, was seen sitting over a chair reading the book.

"Well, the party was fun."

Kaer smiled, placing his book aside, and Luther just nodded as Raven flew over to Kael.

"Indeed, it was."

"Haha! Then let's go to sleep now."

Kaer just smiled as the glow in his eyes and the same glow in the eyes of that raven vanished, and both started moving up the stairs, ending a joyous day with a peaceful chill.
