1 TRANSFER

Here I am at the edge of the roof of the daily's. What I'm doing there is still not known to me but I think I am about falling off the edge. The world stood still with people looking like ants standing below me with heads raise towards my direction. I think they're talking to me but they seem to be mute.

All I want is to stop the chaos running wild in my head. I want the world to be silent and I seem to have temporarily achieved this by standing at the edge of the roof. "It ought to be permanent" is the last word I muttered from my mouth before I think I slipped or let off one foot from the edge of the roof of the building on purpose. Down I go and everything seems mute. Life seems to have been sucked from me before I think I got to the ground.

Tired I think i am because I sluggishly dragged my ass off my bed at the sound of my phone ringing. "Yeah who..." I only could drop from my mouth before I am interrupted by the grumpy voice from the phone "get your damned ass here and cancel that vacation of yours". Mr Orlando, my boss said as he hung up.

As a forensic pathologist, I kinda know what he meant by "get your damned ass here...". My expertise is needed. " A death again" I say to myself as I dragged myself to the bathroom, had a refreshing bath with Sam Smith's "My Oasis" lightening the mood of the room. I get dress and off I am on my GMC sierra Denali. Stepping on the wheels, it took me 20 minutes to arrive at the Detroit City hospital.

Parking in the hospital car park, I take the stairs up to the second floor when I opt in the elevator and arrive at the last floor. Slightly out of the elevator with one foot, my boss is standing close to me with his you're late looks even though I'm not supposed to be in the hospital today but I had to go with the flow.

"The death looks strange" Orlando begins the conversation as we walk to the morgue "the strange mark on his back is something we've never seen" he says as he makes a gesture to describe the mark by touching his back. I only managed to get of my mouth "mark?" because I've never been a talkative on my way to the morgue.

We get to the morgue and I request some privacy to get my work done and see what can be done. I wrap myself up with my hand gloves and my nose mask to reduce the smell of blood coming from the body. I take up the file placed by the corpse and flip through it to find that the body has been dead for 6 hours.

As inquisitive as I've always been, I threw open the cloth placed over the body and "God!! What the fuck?" Is what I screamed. "What the heck happened to him?" I soliloquized because his head seems like something that was bashed by two irons, his brains were all over the cloth that was placed on him and his eyes "yeah! His eyes" i say because they seem to be missing from the body. I flip through the file again to know what happened to him and I am greeted with the report of suicide and that his body managed to leave the street.

Not caring about anything else, I turn the body over to take a look at the mark Orlando talked about. "Damn!" I think I exclaimed within me because the mark look strange indeed like something that was crested there by a hot metal. I seem not to be able to explain what it is but I reach my hands for it to feel it.

I think all I recall now is me touching it and waking up in my room the next morning.
