The reason why I love doing my endeavors at midnight until the wee hours is because I am always waiting for the DAWN. The reason why I and a handful of good souls are blabbering loudly and outrageously about is we are doing whatever we can, no matter how trivial it would end up in the end, to bring about the dawn of enlightenment to the most number of people we can reach out to. So that Dawn would be the reality of that PROMISE of prosperity and equitable life for all people of the Promised Land-PH.

Clues from the impossibles

In the recent days that passed I had the privilege of meeting some interesting people, what made those meetings special is the absence of arrogance, prejudice, and that defense mechanism process people religiously execute to a new and/or an old acquaintance where they judge you by your superfluous physical and economic attributes and your potential as a tool for them to advance their current social or economic status, then base their acts of aloofness or offer of egocentric intimacy on their verdicts. These new friends I recently gained hold the most potential for greatness by exhibiting genuine and impartial opening of doors, suggesting their refusal to subscribe to an ominous propaganda of narcissism that seems to be floating dominantly both in domestic and foreign populations, serving as the foundation to a contagion of violence, atrocities and hate.

This idealistic trait of the 'open door policy to all' I first heard of in primary school along with naively interesting tales with talking rabbits and turtles. It was also a constant whisper ever present all the way up to middle school while I was trying to fully comprehend the cohesion of the tragedies in Noli and El Fili. It was described as endemic to the Filipino, with which I am certain that the person whomever that description came from would commit a horrific suicide witnessing how most Pinoys turned out to be today. The described attribute is an ideal characteristic for the enlightened virtuous man/person expounded on even before Plato and Aristotle, where I wish I was a Philosopher so I can relate to it more. Since I'm just an ordinary person subjected to the stereotyped harshness and coldness of people in this dark generation I happen to be in, then this idea was stored and added in one of my mental warehouse designated as improbable along with fairy tales, space communities, fairies, friendly green dragons, unicorns, wishing on comets when you happen to see one, angels, heaven, the "inherent good in all people" theory, and even permanent happiness or those things I wish was always around but are not.

What's good though is that these fantastical things would always find a way to give out a hint every now and then to every one of us on their potentials to materialize in our realities. These rare reminders give these 'impossibles' substance, that in turn provides a constant energy source to the intangible words HOPE and DREAM. Maybe that's the reason why we cannot throw them away from our thoughts in total finality whatever we do or how hard we may try doing it, we just can't. Since we know somehow, however improbable it might be, the impossible can come true.

To be 'faithful' to how this literature turned out to be, a fiction fantasy, then if a good number of people all at the same time would go to a section of Rizal Park or Quezon City circle, sits down, do nothing else and for a presently undetermined period of time, think of a unified single thought over and over such as "heal the country from all its sickness, so we can develop and prepare our citizens to lead other countries of the world in the field of science and technology, world peace, and equality", I bet pretty soon this too can come true. If this old theory circulating for generations and for posterity it seems, that had inspired a substantial number of experimentation about 'the power of the mind' can hold some water, and if I am not deceiving myself with the turn outs in one of my personal social experiments, then those communal desire of every Pinoy (common and not so common) which are unity, basic contentment and happiness then such a phenomenon event embodying these yearnings is materially conceivable. However it would be conditional to the occurrence of some numerous, specific and sequential catalysts, where the most important and primary element of which is listening – listening to the unadulterated whispers of one's heart; listening to the whispers of everything that surrounds us, be it coming from tangible sources or not, singularly and in unison; then we decide to act, if those voices happen to suggest that we need to do so.

After all, as Ford and our own MAGSAYSAY suggested, nothing is impossible, except maybe friendly green dragons, but let's wait to find out, shall we?
