PROLOGUE

"Mom,I really would love to be going" she shouted as she looked at the time on her expensive wristwatch which was given to her by her wealthy father Mr Richard brooks on her sixteenth birthday which was the previous year.

"Down in a few minutes" Mrs brooks shouted from her room to Sarah her beautiful impatient daughter who was leaving the house to spend the holiday with longtime friends, The hills family.

Don't tell me you are following me? Sarah asked before pacing around the tidy, wide and beautiful living room while waiting for her troublesome and overprotective mother to come downstairs out of her matrimonial room where she has been for the past twenty minutes applying makeup on her face.

Mom? she called out waiting for a reply.

She had an unfinished conversation with her father two days earlier where she was going to tell him the main reason she was travelling before he went on a business trip across the country. Since she was the only the child of her parents, she had almost everything she needed in life.

The earlier conversation goes like this;

So what did you want to say to me baby? Richard brooks asked his lovely daughter who was sitting on a comfy and wide leather chair inside his library room as he was busy signing some business contracts since he's the owner of a large firm.

"Dad I feel like travelling" Sarah answered chuckling.

"Oh my baby finally wants to travel alone or maybe with us" he said joyfully.

Where? he asked

"I don't know dad,I haven't really decided yet,but give me a few seconds,I might be able to decide" Sarah answered delaying and shading the truth a little as she folded her hands together where she sat and was wearing a long hand white sweater with nothing underneath and a short black jean.

"Okay,I guess it's hard choosing between Paris and Venice" Richard brooks joked.

"No dad,I ain't going to any of this places you just mentioned" she said unhesitatingly to her father who was surprised and curious probably because Sarah had always loved a trip to those cities until now.

Then where are you travelling to for Christmas? he asked curious to know the answer.

Do you remember your childhood friend daddy?

Who? he asked dumbly.

"Come on daddy,Mr Hills the one you almost can stop talking about" she answered quickly.

"Of course I do,you just said I talk alot about him".

"He is my brother not my friend" Richard said correcting his seventeen year old daughter silly but probably right mistake.

"No he is not" Sarah protested.

"He is just a friend I guess" she added.

"I don't know what you might think him to be,but he is my brother and we are family" Richard replied opening the drawer beside him and placing the documents he just finished signing inside.

So what about him? he asked bringing his full focus back to his mischievous daughter.

"I'd love to spend the holiday with them and Christmas likewise" she answered chuckling.

"Oh baby girl, you shouldn't have asked, you can go anytime you want to".

"They are family"he said before standing up and walking towards a long shelf in the corner of the room to pick up a book.

But it's Christmas, I thought you'll be traveling with us to Dakota? he asked.

"Not anymore dad,I don't feel like it's my place to be and anyways I really want you and mom to have some time alone" Sarah said with her hands still folded tight.

"We have alot of time alone already in our room" he joked as Sarah smirked.

"Anyways Sarah, you know i wouldn't deprive you of anything within my power except that which will or might hurt you my princess" he said as he sat down and looked at his beautiful daughter.

"I know dad,and I'd really like it if you stop treating me like a little girl" she said while he burst out in laughter.

"Oh no you've got that wrong,as long as I am alive....you will always be my little princess the same applies for your mother, she'll always be my elegant Queen" he replied laughing out.

"Okay daddy, I hope I upgrade to that Queen someday" Sarah said a little bit jealous.

"Upgrade you say,and you better don't let your mom grasp what you just said" Richard joked as they both burst out in laughter.

So can I travel? she asked after a while of laughter.

Not till I know why?

Why are you deciding now after all this years to go there? he asked looking at Sarah who could only stare at him for a while in silence before she finally responded solemnly;

"I don't really know dad,I just want to reconnect and spend time with some childhood friends".

You mean to spend time with your cousin's right?

"They ain't my cousin's" she answered referring to the hills kids.

What will it take for you to believe me? Richard asked still convincing his daughter about the idea of the Hills not being friends but Family.

"Nothing dad,I just don't see or think of them as my cousin's or family related".

"Well they are, like it or not" Richard replied.

"And point of correction, you don't seen them doesn't me they ain't" he said to his daughter before sitting and dropping the book he picked from his shelf some few minutes ago.

"Okay dad,I believe you then if you keep on insisting" she said giving in to her father little protest.

"I'm not insisting".

So now do you do you have your answer ready on why you are traveling to their place? he asked but Sarah could only stare at him before luckily his library phone started ringing maybe to save her from giving him an almost depressing answer.

"Richard brooks" Mr Brooks said to the caller after picking up the phone.

Today? he asked a few seconds later.

"Okay, tell them the meeting is confirmed and I'll be there to meet in a few hours" he said a few seconds again after listening to the caller before he finally hanged up.

"Sorry Sarah, I have a meeting to cover since my secretary and assistant manger are both surprisingly not okay" he said to Sarah.

Can't you just video call? Sarah asked since technology has really made almost everything easy in life.

"No I can't,I have something I need to do there anyways, and you know I need to prepare for the vacation in Dakota" he said locking his drawer before walking towards the door out of the library.

"Dad can I travel then?

"Of course I said you can,but we still have to finish our conversation sometime" he said as he opened the door and went out of the library before shouting;

"Lock the door to my library"!

"Okay daddy,Thanks,I love you,you are the best" Sarah replied shouting.

Meanwhile back in the present,Sarah was still waiting for her mom to come down before finally after some few minutes she came down elegantly and majestically in her beautiful blue gown down the stairway.

"Mom" Sarah said hitting the ceramic made floor hard with her feet.

"Sorry dear,I had to look more beautiful for your daddy" Mrs Brooks said looking beautiful in her pretty gown.

Can we go now?

"Yes baby,we are going to the Airport together actually" Mrs Brooks answered as she walked outside towards the beautiful black limo with her small Fendi back in her hands.

"I know" Sarah said before patting her beautiful and lovely little white dog on its body.

"Bye Frankie" she said as the dog could only wiggle and shake it's tail at her maybe happily that she might be back soon with something for him or sad that he would have to spend the Christmas alone maybe with some other dogs and Sarah might not be home after Christmas.

Some few minutes later,both mother and daughter were sitted comfortably in the limo as the driver drove them off straightway to the airport.Sarah tried looking out the tinted windows before her mother finally spoke to her;

"You could have taken Frankie along".

"I know mom,I just need it to be here" Sarah replied facing her mom.

"I hope you have a great time with the hills Sarah".

"Yes mom, you too as well as dad" Sarah replied with a broad smile on her face.

"Be a good girl".

"I always am mom,you know that" Sarah replied still smiling with her white Teeth showing.

I know, but what I don't know or seem to understand is why you dropped out of school or should I say want to change school like you wrote in your letter without telling us or having a reasonable excuse? Mrs books said as Sarah turned her head slowly to look away.

"Look here, I'm talking to you".

"Mom I wanted to tell both you and dad but I just didn't know how to" Sarah answered knowing she was starting to have the conversation she has been avoiding with her strict mother.

Just tell me why?

"I just don't feel Luis gram high is for me anymore" Sarah answered.

Why baby,in your final school year?

What happened

You have alot if friends there, what would you tell Stacy? she asked

"She knows already and I know mom it's my final year, but I just feel like I need a change for my final school year" Sarah said solemn.

"So you told Stacy about this kind of decision before me and your dad" Mrs Brooks said acting a little furious.

Then there must be a reason because you of all people don't just give up?

"Mom I just told you the reason, nothing else".

Where are you changing to? Or where have you decided to change to alone?

"I don't know yet, that's one of the reason I'm traveling to spend time and meet the hills family".

You don't know yet?

"Yes mom and I actually have something to ask you and I think I have actually asked you before" Sarah said.

And what is that? Mrs Brooks asked

Who are the hills family to us? Are we related or what?

Our surnames are different.....Why?

"I think you should ask your dad about that" Mrs Brooks replied.

Really mom?

"He told me we are all family related".

"Then you have to take his word and believe it just like I'm believing you know about what you told me earlier, but we are still going to have to talk about this probably when we all come back home" Mrs Brooks said as they seemed to have reached the airport after the driver stopped the car and then came down to carry the bags from the booth of the car into the airport.

A few minutes later, both Sarah and her mother opened the door and came down of the car as some passerby stared at them in amazement because they both looked gorgeous.

"Bye Sarah, take a good care of yourself" Mrs Brooks said as they parted ways after a warm hug before she went to join in the queue for their visa to be checked.

"Bye mom" Sarah said waving at her mother before she climbed the automatic stairway with her travelling bag to the section to board her plane.
